Plattsburgh State's Carson Gallagher (28) comes in on the breakaway in overtime looking for the winner. It would be the classic SUNYAC contest as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Oswego State Lakers in front of 1600 fans with the early season lead on the line. The game would start well for the Cardinals as Bennett Stockdale would get the opener with 3:44 left in the period to make it 1-0 and let the return of the tennis ball commence as they would come a flying from the stands . Then riding the surge from the goal just two minutes later the Cardinals would strike on the power play from Carson Gallagher to make it 2-0 cardinals. The Lakers would fight back in the second period and get on the board at the 5:26 mark to make it 2-1 on the Tyler Antonucci goal. Then at the 12:48 mark of the period, the Lakers would get the equalizer from Alex Dicarlo to make it 2-2. That is where the game would stay through the rest of the period and the third and overtime for a 2-2 tie. With the tie, Anthony Del Tufo would make 26 saves on 28 shots as they go to 2-1-1 on the season. Next up for the Cardinals would be a road tilt against the Brockport State Golden Eagles. Gallery

#1 Saranac Lake Red Storm Vs #3 Saranac Chiefs November 6th 2021

The Saranac Lake Red Storm pose for their team photo as they are crowned the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference C champions. It would be a battle of the Saranac's in the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class C Championship as the #1 Saranac Lake Red Storm would take on the #3 Saranac Chiefs. The Red Storm would waste little time in taking the early lead at 7-0 on the Connor Hewitt 20 yard run at the 2:05 mark of the first quarter. Then with just under three minutes left in the quarter, the Red Storm would strike again and make it 14-0 on a Connor Hewitt 1 yard run. The Chiefs would have an answer with a 31 yard run by Cayden Bouiva and get themself back in the game at 14-6 after the extra point would be blocked. The Chiefs wouldn't be done through as they would come back on their next drive and strike with a 75-yard pass and catch to Justin Bedard at the 1:04 mark of the second quarter and make it 14-12 game after an unsuccessful two-point conversion attempt. The Red Storm would answer right back like twenty seconds later on a 64 yard run by Connor Hewitt for his third touchdown of the half and make it a 21-12 game. Then at the 7:18 mark of the quarter, the Chiefs would come back again and score on a 4 yard run by Hunter Devins to make it a 21-19 game. Then in the closing seconds of the half, the Chiefs would take the lead at 22-21 on a 28-yard field goal. That is where the score would stay till the 4:58 mark of the fourth quarter when Hunter Devins would get his second score of the game on a 6-yard run to extend their lead to 29-21. Although the Red Storm would keep fighting and with about 90 seconds left Connor Hewitt would score on the goal line and they would get the two-point conversion and tie the game at 29 force overtime. In the overtime, Red Storms Connor Hewitt would score from 4 yards out and take a 36-29 lead. The Chiefs would be next up and they would score on the Hunter Devins run. That's where the game would get good the Chiefs would lineup for the win instead of going for the tie and sending it to another overtime. They would score on the two-point play and everyone had thought the chiefs had won the title but there was a yellow flag on the field and it would be called back on a false start. So then seeing that they had to go 5 yards farther back and make it from the 7-yard line they decided to take the field goal and that would go wide right and the Red Storm would hold on for the 36-35 victory, In the winning effort, the Red Storm would advance to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and will play Ogdensburg next weekend and go to 4-4 on the season while the Saranac Chiefs season will come to end at 2-7. #1 Moriah Vikings Vs #2 Ausable Valley Patriots November 6th 2021

The Moriah Vikings pose for their team photo as they are crowned the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference D champions. It would be the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class D Football championships and it would be another appearance by the #1 Moriah Vikings expect this time they would be taking on the #2 Ausable Valley Patriots for the right to head to the state playoffs and the road to the carrier dome. The upset-minded Patriots would get the opening score of the game on a 12 yard run by Ethan Snow and would take the 7-0 lead with three minutes left in the first quarter. Although the lead would be short-lived as the Moriah Vikings and Bryce Spraque would run back the ensuing kickoff 83 yards for the score with 1:48 left in the quarter although the two-point conversion would fail and the Patriots would have the slim 7-6 lead. The Vikings would officially take the 12-7 lead as Bryce Spraque would strike again although this time through the air on a 15-yard pass at the 5:16 mark of the second quarter and would stay that way for the first half. The Vikings would expand their lead to 20-7 on a 35-yard keeper by Rowan Swan and would also get the two-point conversion. The Patriots would answer right back on their next drive with Ethan Snow's second rushing touchdown of the day to make it a 20-13 game. That is where the game would end up with the Vikings being crowned the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class D Champions although the Patriots wouldn't go down without swinging to get the tying score. With the win, the Vikings enter the NYSPHSAA Class D Tournament at a perfect 8-0 and wait for the winner from the capital district in a couple of weeks while the Ausable Valley Patriots season comes to end at 5-3. Cortland State Red Dragons @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals November 5th 2021

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals celeberate as they get the game winner in overtime. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Cortland State Red Dragons in the openner of SUNYAC play for the season. The openner would be a shootout as the Red Dragons would get the first two goals on the game in the first eight minutes from Johnny Facchini and Nate Berke. Although the Cardinals would get on the board at the 12:51 mark of the period on Johnny Mancusco goal and thats where the first period would end. In the second period the teams would trade a pair of goals with Ethan Homitz and Sutter Donegan scoring for the Red Dragons while Joey Mancusco would get a pair and the hat trick on the night. Although the cardinals would enter the third period trailing 4-3. The Red Dragons would strike early in the third period on the Domenic Settimo goal to make it a 5-3 game. The Cardinals would answer back at the 11:48 mark to make it a one goal game on the Jake Lanyi goal. Then with just about 2:30 left in the game the Cardinals would tie the game up at 5 on the Bennett Stockdale goal and thats where the game would stay and force overtime. In the overtime you would see the NCAA's new overtime rule as it would be 3x3 and in that the Cardinals would get the game winner with 1:30 left on Bennett Stockdale's second of the night. In the winning effort Anthony Del Tufo would make 34 saves as they go to 2-1 on the season while Cortland State falls to 1-1 on the season. #1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Plattsburgh Hornets Nobember 5th 2021

The Peru Nighthawks pose for their team photo as they are crowned the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Champions. It would be the start of football championship weekend for the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference with the Class B title on the line between the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets at the Beekmantown High School. In the classic rivalry between the Peru Nighthawks and Plattsburgh Hornets, the defenses would be the stars of the game for the most part. As the Nighthawks would not get on the board till the 8:53 mark of the second quarter when Landen Duprey would score on the touchdown pass from Zach O'Connell. That is where the score would style through the remainder of the half. The Nighthawks would get their second score of the game from Zach O'Connell with 1:30 left in the third quarter on a one-yard quarterback keeper to make it 14-0 Peru. Then in the final minutes of the game, the Nighthawks would tack on a 41-yard field goal from Keegan Smith to give them the 17-0 victory and the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Championship. With the win, they improve to 6-2 on the season and advance to the NYSPHSAA Tournament and will play the Massena Red Raiders in the opening round while the Plattsburgh Hornets season comes to end at 4-4. #3 Saranac Chiefs @ #2 Beekmentown Eagles October 29th

Saranac's Hunter Devins (21) takes on the defenders as he runs at them going after the first down. It would be the semi-finals of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class C playoffs as the #2 Beekmantown Eagles would host the #3 Saranac Chiefs for the right to go to the championship and take on the #1 Saranac Lake Red Storm. In a game that would be moving at a very quick pace, the Eagles would get the opening score of the game at the 6:05 mark when Andrew Vannatten would break a 93 yard run for the score and take a 6-0 Eagles lead. The game would stay there till the 7:13 mark of the second quarter when Hunter Devins would strike from three yards out and give the Chiefs the 7-6 lead. Although the Eagles would regain the lead with 11 seconds left in the half on the 47 strikes to Keith Parent to give the Eagles the 12-7. Although the Chiefs would strike on their first play of the ensuing drive on a 38-yard pass to Hunter Devins as time expired to take the 13-12. The only score of the third quarter would come on a crazy play as Beekmentown's Carter Duccatte that had an interception in the endzone and ran out of the endzone but went back in and took a knee making it safety and giving the Chiefs 2 points and a 15-12 lead. The Chiefs would be able to expand their lead to 2 scores on Hunter Devins's third score of the game at the 5:44 mark on a 1-yard run to make it a 21-12 game. Then at the 8:12 mark of the quarter, the Eagles would hit Keith Parent again for his second score of the game on a 30-yard pass to make it a 21-18 game. Although with 1:32 left in the game the Chiefs would put the icing on the game as Hunter Devins would strike for the fourth time this time from 36 yards to make it a 28-18 game and give the Chiefs the win. In the winning effort, the Chiefs go to 2-6 on the season and will play the Saranac Lake Red Storm for the Class C title while the Beekmantown Eagles season comes to an end at 2-6. Gallery

Moriah Vikings @ Peru Nighthawks October 28th 2021

Moriah's Riley Demarais (8) with the catch along the sidelines with the tight coverage from Peru's Landen Duprey (44). It would be the final week of the regular season and the conference title would be up for grabs between a pair of unbeaten as the Peru Nighthawks would host the Moriah Vikings. With the regular-season crown on the line, the game would start out very tight as the Vikings would get the opening score of the game in the final minute of first on a 49 yard run by Blake Swan and take the 6-0 lead. The Nighthawks would answer right back 30 seconds into the 2nd on a 33 yard run by Jack Hanson and take the 7-6 lead. Although the Vikings would answer back on the following drive on the 29 yards run by Riley Demarais at the 5:11 mark and regain the lead at 12-7. Then at the 8:14 mark of the second quarter, the Vikings would extend their lead to 20-7 on a 7 yard run by Blake Swan. Although the Nighthawks would get back into it by cutting the difference in half on Jack Hanson's second score of the game with two minutes left in the half at 20-14. Although the Vikings would answer right back and make it a two-score again in the final minute of the half on Blake Swan's third score of the game and take the 28-14 lead into the locker room. When the teams would return for the second half Vikings would look to take control of the game as they strike in the first minute on a 31-yard pass to Bryce Spraque and take the 34-14 lead. The Nighthawks would have a small answer at the 3;25 mark when Keegan Smith would hit a 36-yard field goal to make it 34-17. The passing attack would have another answer by the Vikings as they would find Bryce Spraque again this time for 49 yards and take a 40-17 advantage. The Nighthawks would get it within two scores at 40-24 with 1:27 left in the third on an 18 yard run by Sawyer Schlit. Although the Vikings would answer back on their next offensive play on a 53-yard run to take the three-score lead back at 46-24. In the fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would get a lone score on Sawyer Schlitt's second score of the game although it wouldn't be enough as the Vikings win 46-31. In the winning effort, the Vikings finish the regular season at 7-0 and are crowned champions, and now what the winner Ticonderoga and Ausable Valley for the Section D Championship next weekend. While the 5-2 Nighthawks know they are facing the Plattsburgh Hornets next weekend for the Section VII Class B title.

Chazy's Quinn Brandell (4) skids the puck by the Adirondack goalie for the goal. It would be the game of the season as the Chazy Flyers would host the Adirondack Thunder at the Amer-Can North Arena in the bantams division. The Flyers would take no time in taking control of the game as they would score 5 goals in the first period coming from Ryan Racine, Braeden Calkins, and Cassidy Goodman. In the second period, the Flyers would keep their foot on the loud pedal and add another 4 goals from Evan Patrie, Quinn Brandell, Wayne Simpson, and Ryan Racine for the 9-0 lead. In the third period, Flyers would take their foot off the pedal and back it down as they would get two goals from Landon Giroux. The Flyers would get the 11-0 win and start their season off on the right foot at 1-0. Gallery

Plattsburgh Hornets @ Ausable Valley Patriots October 22nd 2021

Plattsburgh's Riguelson Filosca (23) with the pass breakup along the sidelines of the endzone to save the touchdown that was intended for Ausable Valley's Doner. It would be the last week of the regular season and the Ausable Valley Patriots would host the Plattsburgh Hornets as the teams were tuning up for the playoffs. The Patriots would strike first quickly at the 2:56 mark and take the 6-0 lead on the Nate Doner 6 yard run. That is where the game would stay all the way till the 3:27 mark of the second quarter when the Hornets would hook up with Michael Phillips for a 56-yard pass and catch and the take the lead at 7-6. It was starting to look like that would be the score heading into half until Nate Doner would strike again for a 12-yard receiving touchdown with 39 seconds left and the Patriots would take the 13-7 lead into the break. When the teams came back for the second defenses would be stepping up and the game would remain till the 2:20 mark of the 4th quarter when Ausable Valley's Douglass would have the 46-yard interception for the score and extend their lead to 20-7. Then in the final stages of the game, the Patriots would put the icing on the cake as Nate Doner would strike for the third touchdown of the game and give the Patriots the 27-7 victory. In the winning effort, the Patriots finish of their season at 5-2 and while have a meeting next week with the Ticonderoga Sentinels in the semi-finals of the Section VII Class D Playoffs. As for the Hornets there, the season come to end at 3-4 while they will have the next week off as they will take on the Peru Nighthawks in the Section VII Class B Championship.

Saranac Lake Red Storm @ Plattsburgh Hornets October 18th 2021

Plattsburgh's Trenton Griffiths (13) uses the block from his offensive line and uses it to get the extra yards and the first down. It would be a rare Monday night game in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Saranac Lake Red Storm would travel to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets to put an end to week 6. The game would be a defensive battle through most of the first half as the Hornets would get the lone score of the half from Trenton Griffiths on a 9 yard run in the closing minute of the half and take the 7-0 lead at the break. As the second half would start the Hornet's defense would stay strong as they would have a 51-yard interception for a score from Riguelson Filosca and extend their lead to 14-0. Then on the next Red Storm drive the Hornets defense would answer again with another interception for a score this time 58 yards and Michael Phillips to take a 21-0 lead. Then at the 3:18 mark of the fourth quarter, the Hornets would put the icing on the cake with a 12 yard run by Trenton Griffiths for his second score of the game. With 4:25 left in the game, the Red Storm would get on the board to avoid the shutout on the Markus Navarra 11 yard touchdown to make it a 27-7 game and that's where the game would end. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 3-3 on the season and will finish off their season at Ausable Valley. As the Saranac Lake Red Storm falls to 3-3 on their season and will finish at home against Peru.
