Plattsburgh State's Lilla Nease (31) with the save on the pads as part of a 20-save performance in the winning effort. It would be a nonconference battle within the top ten of the country in women's hockey as the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #6 Middlebury Panthers at the Ronald Stafford Ice Arena in front of 350 fans in a midweek tilt. The game would be very tight through the first period both teams would have their chances to get on the board but the scoreboard would still be blank after the end of the period. In the second period, it would start the same. The Cardinals would break through and get the opening goal of the game at the 4:54 mark of the second period on a goal from Zsofia Pazmandi for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the last 100 seconds of the period when the Cardinals would take the 2-0 lead on the Ivy Boric goal. The Panthers would answer right back a minute later and get the game back within one on the Molly McQueen goal to make it a 2-1 game. In the winning effort for the Cardinals Lilla Nease would make 20 saves for the win as they go to 15-2-1 on the season and will be back in action at home this Saturday against Williams College. Plattsburgh State's Mae Olshaney (18) with the rebound goal to give the Cardinals the 4-0 lead. It would be the second game of a two-game series for the Buffalo State Bengals as they would travel to the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena to take on the #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals in SUNYAC Women's Hockey and celebrate the 43rd birthday of Burghy the Cardinals mascot. The game would be played very evenly through the first period as the Cardinals would have the lone goal of the period with just over two minutes left on the Emma McClean goal. However in the second period, the Cardinals would find their offense and they would go on a stretch of four goals in a span of 5:25 in the middle of the period with the goals coming from Mattie Norton, Emily Kasprzak, Mae Olshansky, and Taya Balfour and take the commanding 5-0 lead after the second period. From there defenses on both teams would stand tall as there was no scoring the rest of the game. However, that would not be for a lack of effort by the Cardinals as they would finish with a season-high 68 shots on net. The Cardinals go to 14-2-1 on the season and clinched the SUNYAC Women's Hockey first regular season title in conference history and Lila Nease would have another shutout. It will be a quick turnaround for the Lady Cardinals as they will be back in action Tuesday night in a non-conference tilt against long-time rival Middlebury in a game that was postponed a couple of weeks ago due to bad weather. The #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would open up the 2024 home portion of their schedule against SUNYAC for the Morrisville State Mustangs in front of 250 loyal fans. The Cardinals wouldn't waste time getting on the scoreboard just 35 seconds in on the Bridget Orr goal. The game would stay there till the 9:07 mark of the period when Kendall Wasik would score and make it a 2-0 game. Then with just over two minutes left in the period the Cardinals would get a third tally this time from Mattie Norton to make it a 3-0 Cardinal game. The Cardinals would keep it going in the second period when Ciara Wal would score four minutes in and make it a 4-0 game. Then about three minutes later Ivy Boric would get on the scoring sheet for the Cardinals to make it a 5-0 Cardinal lead. The game would stay there till the 3:57 mark of the third period when Mattie Norton would get her second of the night and make it a 6-0 game. Then with about seven minutes left in the game, the Mustangs would break up the Nease shutout on the Allie Davidson goal and make it a 6-1 game. With just under five minutes left in the game, Aizah Thompson would score to secure the 7-1 victory. Plattsburgh State's Chelsea VanGlahn (15) gets just enough on the rebound that slides just under goaltender and across the line for the goal. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host rival Elimra Soaring Eagles in the ECAC West Tournament Championship at the Plattsburgh State Field House. The Soaring Eagles would get the early lead on Tannis Lamoureux goal at the 2:36 mark of the first period. The Cardinals would tie the game up at 13:36 of the first period when Jenny Kistner's power play goal. Elimra would take the lead back at 4:35 of the second period Olivia Nystrom's goal. The Cardinals would tie it up again with 10 seconds left in the second period on Ali Vakos goal. Then at 11:32 of the third period Teal Gove would give the Cardinals there first lead of the night. Then just two minutes later the Cardinals would ectend the lead to 4-2 on Chelsea VanGlahn goal. As the Cardinals would get the 4-2 win Sydney Aveson would stop 22 of 24 shots on the night. Then with just three seconds left in the first Chelsea VanGlahn would score in the open night to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead after the first. Then with just over 5 minutes remaining in the second period Teal Gove would get her second goal of the game. The with just under two minutes left in the second period Shannon Stewart would score to give the Cardinals a 4-0 lead heading into the third. In the third period St. Norbert's would get on the broad two to make it 4-2 and make it a game down the stretch. Then with just over three minutes left in the game Emma Rutherford would score to put the icing on game and advance the Cardinals to the Frozen Four. In the winning effort Stdney Aveson would stop 13 of 15 shots.
