Plattsburgh's Dean Dashnaw (30) makes the stick save and brings it into the body to stop play. The Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Niskayuna Mohawks in nonleague action. The Mohawks would strike first with a goal at 2:30 of the first. Then at 5:55 the Hornets would tie the game up at one on Ryan Whalen's goal. The Mohawks would retake the lead at 7:01 on Josh Kim's at 2-1. Then at 10:33 Ryan Whalen would tie the game back up at two with his second of the night. Then in the last minute of the period the Hornets would take the 3-2 lead Eric Bechard's goal. When the teams came back for the second period the Hornets would take the 4-2 lead at 3:36 on Ryan Whalen's third goal of the day. Then just 14 seconds later the Hornets would make it 5-2 Gavin Giroux goal. The Hornets would make it 6-2 at 5:36 on the Wade Weeden goal. Then the Mohawks would get the last two of the period to make it 6-4 after two. Then just 36 seconds into the third period Kurtis Olsen would get into the act to make it 7-4. Then at 4:06 mark of period the Hornets Eric Bechard would get his third of the day to secure the 8-4 win, In the winning effort Dean Dashnaw would make 13 saves as the Hornets go to 2-1 on the season. This years tournament would have seven teams between 6 schools (Saranac A & B, Chateaugay, Plattsburgh, Peru, Ogdensburg, and Northeastern Clinton). When it was all said and done the Chateaugay Bulldogs would win the tournament with a record of an 11-1 and Plattsburgh would be second at 10-2. It would be another great tournament with all teams having a great time as sectionals rapidly approach. Gallery

This years tournament would have seven teams between 6 schools (Saranac A & B, Chateaugay, Plattsburgh, Peru, Ogdensburg, and Northeastern Clinton). Plattsburgh's Quran Carroll (33) breaking through the arm tackle of Devin Fessette (4) to the corner. The Beekmantown Eagles would travel to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets in week three of the Champlain Valley Atheltic Conference action. The Eagles would take the lead at 2:53 mark of the first quarter on Cameron Garceau's touchdown reception. Then just over two minutes later the Eagles would strike again on Devin Fessette's two-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0. Then shortly into the second quarter, the Eagles would strike again this time on Justin Stevens two-yard run to make it 20-0 Eagles. The Eagles would strike one more time before the half ended on Devin Fessette's second score of the night to make it 27-0 at the half. When the teams would return for the second half it would be more of the same Justin Stevens would get his second touchdown of night six minutes in to make it 34-0. Then just three minutes later the Eagles would strike again with Justin Stevens third touchdown of the night to make it 41-0. The Eagles would end there scoring in the fourth quarter on Tyler Myers's eight-yard run to secure the 48-0 victory. With the win, the Eagles go to 2-1 as the Hornets fall to 0-3 on the season.

As for the goalie's Northeastern Clinton's Cody Young would stop 17 of 20 shots while Plattsburgh's Giancarlo Ventre would stop all 19 shots. Malone's Shawm Mulverhill (23) with the open wrister on net from close range. It would be a battle of top of 15 teams in the state as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Malone Huskies in non-league action. The Hornets would get the opening goal 8:40 into the first on Jack Tolosky's goal to make it 1-0. The Hornets would make it 2-0 on a power-play goal from John Anthony Fine Lease. The Huskies would get on the broad in the last two minutes of period Trevor Cooley's goal to make it 2-1 Hornets after the first. The Huskies tie up right off in the second period at two. The Huskies would take the 3-2 lead on Trevor Henderson's goal at 4:32 of the second period. The Huskies would make it 4-2 Jake Hennings's goal at 6:42. Then in the eight-minute, the Huskies would strike twice on goals from Cole Depuy and Tanner Studlack to make it 5-3 Huskies after the 2nd period. In the third period, the Hornets would get back within J.D. Side's goal at 5:21. Then tie it up with four minutes remaining om Devin Clarke's goal to send the game to overtime. In the overtime, the Huskies would make it enjoyable bus ride back as Tanner Studlack would score at 2:53 of the extra frame for the 6-5 win. In the winning effort, Joey Brown would stop 35 of 40 shots as the Huskies go to 7-5-1 on the season. Gallery

North Country Cup Saranac Chiefs Vs #8 Churchville-Chilli Saints January 19 2013

Saranac's Alex Sarazen (15) with the hit along the broads on the Churchville-Chilli defender. The Saranac Chiefs would host the Churchville-Chilli in the North Country Cup at the Stafford Ice Arena in Plattsburgh. Churchville would get three goals in the first period and not look back from there. Churchville would take a 4-0 lead 8 minutes into the second period. Dylan Baker would get the Chiefs on the broad with a goal with under a minute left in the period. Although before time would expire Churchville would score again to make it 5-1 after the second period. In the third period, Churchville would score in the opening minute to make it 6-1. Then in final 30 seconds of the game, the Chiefs would get two goals from Jacob Lilledahl and Matt McCasland to make it a 6-3 Churchville win. In the lose Zach LaReau would stop 37 of 43 shots as the Chiefs fall to 2-11. The Chiefs will look to regroup when they get back into sectional play next week. Gallery
