Salmon River's Kurt Leroux (32) drives the lanes and scores on the outstretched off-balance layup. It would be the second game of the Section 7/10 Challenge featuring the Salmon River Shamrocks and the Plattsburgh Hornets. It would be a game that the Hornets would control from start to finish the hornets would lead 41-13 at the half. In the second half it would be more of the same as the Hornets 34-22. With that the Hornets would secure the 74-35 victory go to 5-4 while the Shamrocks fall to 5-7 on the season. Gallery.

Saranac's Griffin Williams (3) with the three from the corner. It would be season opener in the CVAC for both the Saranac Cheifs and the Plattsburgh Hornets. This would be a game that the Plattsburgh Hornets would dominate from start to finish. The Hornets would have a 20-9 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, it would be more of the same as the Hornets would win the quarter 19-13 and take a 39-22 lead at the break. When the teams would return for the third quarter it would stay Hornets game as they win the quarter 26-12 and lead the game 65-34. The Hornets would go into coast mode in the fourth quarter and the Cheifs would win the quarter 15-13. Although the Hornets would cruise to the 78-49 victory as the Hornets go to 1-3 while the Cheifs fall to 0-5 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh Mitch Senecal (8) sneaks through for the touchdown as he loses his helmet as he goes over the goal line. It would be the opening night of the Champlain Valley football season as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Chiefs. The Hornets would get the first score of the game on a 2 yard run by Brady Pennington to make it 6-0 at the 7:30 mark. The Hornets would extend there lead to 12-0 a 31-yard interception return Harney just 38 seconds later. The Hornets would extend there lead to 18-0 on a 33-yard touchdown reception by Ben Champagne and take that 18-0 lead into the intermission. The game would stay there till 36 seconds of the fourth quarter when Mitch Senecal would score on the QB sneak to make it 25-0 Hornets. Then in the closing minutes of the game, Jason Moore would score on a 52-yard bomb to secure the 33-0 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would break a 29 game losing streak and start the season at 1-0 as the Saranac Chiefs fall to 0-1 to start the season. Gallery

Northeastern Clinton's (10) battles to win the offensive zone face-off. The Northeastern Clinton Cougars would travel to Plattsburgh to take on the Hornets in Section VII. The Hornets would come in with revenge on their mind as they had gotten beat in the early match this season. The Hornets would get the opening goal to make it 1-0. The Cougars would chargeback and tie the game at one on Ryan Savage's breakaway goal in the first period. From there on out the Hornets would be in control as they would score 4 unanswered goals to secure the 5-1 victory. In the losing effort, Ryan Roberts would make 30 saves on the night. Gallery

The Northeastern Clinton Cougars would travel to Plattsburgh to take on the #10 Beekmantown Eagles in Section 7 Division 2 action. The Eagles would jump out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first couple minutes of the first period. The game would stay there until the second period when the Cougars would get a power-play go to make it 3-1. Shortly after though the Eagles would score to put the lead back at three. In the third period, the teams would trade a goal each as the Eagles would get the 5-2 victory. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Ryan Monahan (34) runs up the middle and breaks through the tacklers. It would be week 6 of section 7 football and the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Woodstock Wasps in nonleague action. The game would not start off the greatest as the Hornets would be down 24-6 at the half and lose there starting quarterback on a questionable targeting call. In the second half, the Hornets offense would come to life and the defense would step up there game and win the half 24-14. Although it wouldn't be enough as the Woodstock Wasps would get the 38-30 victory. In the losing effort getting the scores on the night would John Carroll (1) Sean Ahern (2) and Brady Pennington (3) as the Hornets fall to 1-6 as the head in the last game of the season against Ticonderoga. Plattsburgh's (21) comes around the edge after catching the screen pass dragging a defender. It would be week four the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference football season and this week we would feature the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Ausable Valley Patriots in action. The Patriots would take the 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter in the short run. The game would stay there all the way till the fourth quarter when the Patriots would extend the lead to 13-0 on the touchdown pass to (14). Then with 5 minutes left in the game, the Hornets would get on the board with the touchdown pass to (84) to cut the deficit in half at 13-7. With the win, the Patriots go to 2-2 as they head into the off week. As for the Hornets, they will fall to 0-4 on the season and will be headed to Peru next week to take on the Indians. Gallery
