It would be the fourth game of the day and seventh game of championship weekend and it would be for the Class D Boy's title it would feature the #1 Crown Pont Panthers and the #4 Schroon Lake Wildcats as they battle in the rematch of last years title which was also a thriller. The game would be starting well for the top-seeded Crown Point Panthers as they would jump out to the big lead at 20-8 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Wildcats would start their chargeback with a 15-8 quarter but the Panthers would still have the 30-23 advantage as they headed into the intermission period. When the teams returned for the third quarter defense would be the name of the game as the Wildcats would have a slim advantage of 8-7 for the quarter and the Panthers would still hold the lead at 37-31. When the teams went into the fourth quarter the Wildcats would leave everything out there and tie the game at 41 with a 10-4 quarter and they would even have a shot at the end to win it regulation but the game would head to overtime. In the overtime frame, the teams would trade baskets back and forth and a second overtime would be needed but in the second overtime, the Wildcats would get control and win the overtime 19-11 get the 63-55 victory, and be crowned the 2024 Class D Section VII champions. It would be the third game of the day at the NYSPHSAA Section VII Basketball championships and this time it would be for the Boys Basketball Class C title and it would be #1 Moriah Vikings and the #2 Northern Adirondack Bobcats In the battle of David versus Goliath the game would be going the way of David as the Northern Adirondack Bobcats would have the 21-17 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Vikings would start to knock the rust off and get in the groove but the Bobcats would play a scrappy game the Vikings would win the quarter 14-13 but the Bobcats would have the 34-31 lead at the intermission. In the second half though it would be the Vikings off their past ten sectional title that would come out and they would start making their shoot as they would have a 24-14 quarter and take the 55-48 lead into the last eight minutes. In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats would do their best to get the lead back but Goliath would just be too much on this day as the Vikings won the last quarter 15-14 and secured the 70-62 victory. In the winning effort for the Vikings, Cooper Allen would lead the way with 27 points. The Moriah Vikings would make their annual return to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and will play the winner of the Section X and II game on Saturday, March 9th back at Clinton Community College for the right to make the trip back down to Glenns Falls and the Cool Insuring Arena. It would be the opening game of the second day of the Section VII Basketball Championships from Clinton Community College of 5 on the schedule today. It would see the top-seeded Saranac Lake Red Storm taking on the #3 Northeastern Clinton Cougars in the class B Boys Basketball finals. The Cougars would be looking for the upset from the beginning as they would get off to the early lead at 13-10 after the first eight minutes of the game. In the second quarter, the Cougars would stay hot as they used the quarter to pull ahead with a 17-10 quarter to have a 30-20 lead at the intermission when the teams returned for the third quarter the Red Storm would regroup and come out looking to take the game back over with a 19-15 quarter to cut the lead nearly in half at 45-39 Cougars. In the fourth and final quarter, the Cougars would keep it together and regain the edge with a 16-12 quarter and get the ten-point win and a 61-51 section vii class B boys basketball title. It would be the second game of the tripleheader of the Section VII Championship of Basketball Day 1 from Clinton Community College. It would be the only boys' game of the first day as the #1 Beekmantown Eagles and the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets would meet up for the Class A Finals. The game would start with the Plattsburgh Hornets having the upset on their mind and they would show it with a 19-13 quarter to get the game started. In the second quarter, the Eagles would start to find their shot, take a bite out of the Hornet's lead with a 13-8 quarter, and make it a one-point game at the half with the Hornets holding onto the 1-point lead at 27-26. When the teams returned for the second half the see-saw affair would continue as the Eagles would get that 1 point and have a 14-13 quarter to make the game even as they headed into the fourth quarter tied at 40. In that fourth quarter, the offenses on both sides would come alive but the Eagles would be just too much down the stretch as they would have a 20-14 quarter and get the 60-54 victory. In the winning effort, Beekmantown's Josh Sands would lead the way with a game-high 20 points and go to 16-5 on the season. It would be time for some playoff basketball at Plattsburgh High as the Hornets would host long-time rival the #3 Peru Nighthawks in the semi-finals of the Section VII Class A Boy's Basketball Tournament with the winner getting the #1 Beekmantown Eagles at Clinton Community College on March 1st. The upset-minded Nighthhawks would get off to a good start and have the lead through the early stages of the game but the Hornets would find their shot and have the 21-20 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets would start to pull away from the Nighthawks as they would have a 21-10 quarter and take the 42-30 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half and the third quarter the Hornets would stay hot as they would double up the Nighthawks with a 20-10 quarter and take a 60-40 lead into the 4th quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would put the icing on the cake with a 20-14 quarter and secure the 80-54 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would go to 15-6 on the season and meet with the Beekmantown Eagles for the Section VII Class A Boy's Basketball crown while the Peru Nighthawks season comes to an end at 3-18. It would be the last game of the regular season for both the Plattsburgh Hornets and the #1 Moriah Vikings as they would host them at the Hornets Nest in front of a full nest. The Hornets would not be a very good host to the Moriah Vikings as they would jump out and take control of the game with a 28-7 first quarter. In the second quarter, the Vikings would look to get back in the game with a 17-11 quarter although the Hornets would take the 39-24 lead into the intermission. When the teams would return for the second half the third quarter would be very evenly contested as the Hornets would have the slim 21-18 quarter and expand their lead to 60-42 into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Vikings would do their best to get back in the game with a 12-7 quarter but it wouldn't be enough as the Hornets would get the 67-54 victory. It would be an interconference matchup inside section seven boys' basketball this Saturday afternoon as the Plattsburgh Hornets would be one of the top teams in the section this year the Crown Point Panthers. The bigger Plattsburgh Hornets would leave little to the imagination on this day as they would have their way with the Panthers in the first half and have a 47-19 lead at the break. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would be more of the same as the Hornets would have a 27-15 quarter and take a 74-34 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would empty the bench and get everyone in the game and the Panthers would win the quarter 16-10 but on the scoreboard, it would be all Hornets on this afternoon with an 84-51 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would improve to 10-8 on the season and the Panthers would fall to 12-5 as both teams are coming down the playoff stretch and are looking forward to the sectionals. The game would be tight through the first 8 minutes of the game with the Hornets having a slim 14-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter the game would stay tight but the the Eagles would have a better quarter with a 17-12 quarter and take the 30-26 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the second half the Eagles would stay hot and be able to expand on their lead at 48-38 as they would have a 18-12 quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would just be too much for the Hornets on this night as they would have a 14-10 quarter and capture the 62-48 win. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley athletic conference in section VII tonight from the Plattsburgh High School as the Plattsburgh Hornets would meet up with the Patriots from Ausable Valley on the hardwood in boys basketball. The Hornets would jump out to a fast pace on the start and have a 23-6 lead on the Patriots after the 1st quarter. In the second quarter, the Patriots would have a better offensive output but the Hornets would still win the quarter 23-14 and take the 46-20 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would be more of the same as the Hornets would have a 26-11 quarter and take the convincing 72-31 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter both teams would unload the benches and the Hornets would get the 10-5 quarter for the 82-36 victory. However, in the second quarter, the Hornets would step up all around with the offense and defense as they would win the quarter 16-4 and take a 32-21 lead into the intermission. When the teams would return for the third quarter the Bobcats would find their game and the quarter would be a lot more even as the Hornets would win the quarter 21-18 and take the 53-39 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, it would be another even one as the Hornets would win it 16-13 to secure the 69-52 victory.
