The Cardinals would open up conference play on the short end to the New Paltz Hawks 67-55. Turnovers would be the Cardinal's downfall every time they would start to get close they would lose the ball and the Wildcats would go on a run. The game would be tied at o after the 1st period. Then the Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead just two minutes into the 2nd period on the Eric Satim goal. Although the Cadets would answer right back to tie the game at 1 three minutes later. The Cadets would take the 2-1 8 minutes into the third. Then the Cardinals would score two goals in just over a minute from Nick Jensen and Matt Bessing to capture the title 3-2. The game would turn into a shootout as the Cardinals would get the 7-4 win. The two teams would score early and often in the first period combining for 5 goals and the Cardinals would trail 3-2 on goals from Cody Adams and Dylan Adams. In the 2nd period, the Cardinals would get three unanswered goals to lead 5-3 on goals from Eric Satin, Vick Schlueter, and Patrick Jobbs. The #8 Plattsburgh State Cardinals were upset by Morrisville State 3-2 for the home opener of the 2010-2011 hockey season. The downfall for the Cardinals would be that had a hard time staying out of the penalty box and the Mustangs capitalized with two power-play goals (2-8 on the night). Along with not being able to get there power play going as they went 1-9 on the night with the man up. The cardinals will home to get back on the right track next weekend as they will host Buffalo State and Fredonia. Gallery
