Peru's Zach O'Connell (5) with the stiff arm on the Malone defender as he turns the corner and cuts up the field. It would be the opening weekend of the high school football season and the Peru Nighthawks would host Section X's Malone Huskies in non conference action. The Nighthawks would get off to a quick start with a 8 yard pass to Landon Duprey 3:40 into the game for the 6-0 lead. Then just over three minutes later the Nighthawks would strike again to make it a 13-0 lead on a 22 yard pass to Rocky Hebert. Then in the second quarter the Nighthawks would open up the flood gates and strike four times to take a 40-0 lead into the break on scores from Jack Hanson, Landon Duprey, Rocky Hebert, and Jack Hayes. When the teams back for the second half there would be no let up as they would get another two scores to take a 53-0 lead on scores from Landon Duprey (third of the game), and Zach Hunter. In the fourth quarter the Nighthawks would get one more to secure the 60-0 victory on a 38 yard pass to Preston Daniels. With the win the Nighthawks will start there season 1-0 as they will welcome in the Beekmantown Eagles next week to get there conference season underway.

Jamy Begor (19) and Travis Bruno (33r) would battle it out on the track for the race win and the points title for the 2022 J+S Steel Sportsman Modified. It would be the final round of the 2022 racing season at the Airborne Speedway and be presented by Unifrist and the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modifieds would be on hand as well. The night would start with all the cars in the pits coming out on the track and taking part in a four wide salute to the fans thanking them for there attendance throughout the 2022 racing season. First up on the night would be the first of two features on the night for the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified and the win would go to Justin Perry after Tim Hagerty had a full straightaway lead on the last lap and the car just dies. Then it would be onto the heat races for the regular divisions at the track and first up would be the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified and the winners would be Jason Bruno and Bucko Branham. Then next up would be the Hartson Total Opening Renegades with there two heats and the winners would be Cody Agoney and Jim McKerrian. Then we would have the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified for there heat and the win would go to Scott Fitzgerald. Then to finish off the heat races on the night it would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders with there three heats and the winners would be Kenny Tourville, Josh LaPorte and Jake Fountain. Then it would be onto the second half of the races on the night and it would start with the second feature of the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified and the win would go to Randy Delaney. Then we would be onto the Hartson Total Opening Renegades Main and the points championship would come down to Richie Turner and Nathaniel Guay and by Richie Turner getting a third place on the night he would be crowned the 2022 Hartson Total Opening Renegades champion while Tylor Terry would come across and get his fourth win of the season take the bragging rights into the off season of getting the last win of the season. Then next up would be the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified for there 15 lap event and Scott Fitzgerald would get the spoiling Cody O'Brien's to go back to back in the division. Then it would be onto the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified main and there title would come down to a three person battle between Jamy Begor Travis Bruno and Codie Aubin. Begor would go out there knowing he needed some help to win the championship and he did everything in his power to win the title as he would come up from his 9th place starting position and win the race that went 25 laps caution free but by Travis Bruno taking home a third place he would hold on for a 14 point win and be crowned a two time defending champion of the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified. Then it would be the final race of the 2022 Airborne Speedway season as the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders would hit to the track for there 20 lap race with the championship being decided last week it would be all for pride on the line and the race would be caution free and see Kenny Tourville getting the last race of the season. Now its time for the teams to put the cars away for the season and wait on the banquet and then till we all get together again next year for the 2023 edition of the Airborne Speedway. Gallery

Peru Nighthawks Vs Plattsburgh Hornets August 31st 2022

Peru's goalie with the save on the long distance shot on net. It would be the start of the high school girl's soccer season with the Jan Davis Memorial Tournament at Chazy High School as the Plattsburgh Hornets would take on the Peru Nighthawks. The game would start great for the Nighthawks as they would strike twice in the first with goals from Duprey and Phillips for the 2-0 lead at the intermission. The second half would start off the same way for the Nighthawks as in the 46th minute Duprey would get her second of the game to make it a 3-0 Nighthawks. Then in the 54th minute the Hornets would get on the board with a Amaya Abellard goal to make it 3-1. Then just six minutes later Abellard would strike again and make it 3-2 with 20 minutes left in the game. Then with just just over eight minutes left in the game the Hornets would strike again from Abellard to tie the game at three and finish off her hat trick. Then inside the final minute of the game Bailey Hewson would strike to give the Plattsburgh Hornets the 4-3 victory and advance to the championship against Chazy. Gallery

Kid's Ride Night Presented by Ferris Tractors @ Airborne Speedway August 27th

Before the racing would get under way we would have all the young fans come down and get a ride in there favorite cars. It would be the seventeenth race of the season from the Airborne Speedway and it would be the ever popular Kid's Ride Night along with a 1500 to win Sportsman Modified and 750 to win Limited Sportsman Modified on the schedule for the night. Before the racing would get under way all the racers and there cars would come out to the track and give there great young fans a ride around the track in there favorite car. Then we would be onto the racing and first up would be the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified for there three heats on the night and the wins would go to Beau Reeves, Codie Aubin and Blayden Aequett. Then next up would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders for there three heats of action and the wins would go to Nate Smart, Glen Engstrom, and Jake Fountain. Then we would have two heats for the Hartson Total Opening Renegades and the wins would go to Billy Thwaits and Richie Turner. Then to finish off the heat races would be the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified with there two heats with the wins go to Scott Fitzgerlad and Pryor Stacey. Then it would be time for the main events on the night and the first one out would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders and the fifteen lapper would go to Jake Fountain after a few rough weeks he was back in victory lane with win number three on the season after some hard racing with Josh Laporte and Greg Zindler to round out the top three. Also with that third place finish on the night Greg Zindler has clinched the 2022 Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders Track Championship with a race to go. Then we would have the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified 40 lap 1,500 to win event and there would be a few quick cautions but then it would settle down you would see a couple hard chargers going after the win with Codie Aubfin coming from 6th place and Joey Scarbrough coming from the tenth spot and the win would go to Codie Aubin for first of the season and also give him a shot at a track championship next weekend as he is 18 points behind Travis Bruno for the title. Then we would see the Hartson Total Opening coming out for there 25 lap event and it would be a battle up front between Billy Thwaits and Tylor Terry for the last twenty laps and when the dust would settle Billy Thwaits would have his first win of the year and Richie Turner would round out the top three. With those outcomes in Richie Turner will head into the last race of the season looking to clinch a title over Nathaniel Guay and Tylor Terry. Then to finish of the night it would be the $750 to win Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified event and with the early favor Pryor Stacey spinning and having to restart title it would leave the race wide open and we would see a first time winner in Cody O'Brien with Scott Fitzgerald and Pryor Stacey. Then there was just one as next weekend is championship weekend at the track where the regular racing divisions will go at it one more time to settle the points title and take the bragging right into the off season of winning the final one. Jamy Begor (19) takes the checkered to win the main in the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified as we are in the month of august to contuine is Mr. August name. It would be the sixteenth race of the season from the Airborne Speedway and it would be Backpack Give Away Night presented by the Casella Waste management group. The racing would start off with the one heat for the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified and the win would go to Pryor Stacey. Then next up would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders with there three heats and the wins would go to Kenny Tourville, Glen Engstrom, and John Bradley. Then next up would be the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified for there three heats and the wins would go to Codie Aubin, Chris Cayea and Jake Scarbrough. Then to finish off the heat racing action would be thew Hartson Total Opening Renegades for there two with the wins going to Jason McClatchie and Billy Thwaits. Then it would be time for the backpack away during the intermission where they would give out around 250 bacpacks to the kids in the stands in time to head back to school in just under thirty minutes. Then it was onto the main events on the night with the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified and Pryor Stacey would get the wire to wire win. Then next would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders for there fifteen lapper and the win would go to Steven Bressette for the second time in the past month and Kenny Tourville and Bill Doner to finish out the top three. Then we would have the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified and would see a great battle up front between Jake Scarbrough and Bucko Branham for the first three quarters of the race until they tangled headed into turn one. On the issuing restart Jamy Begor would take the high side and just be gone for the win. The we would finish with the Hartson Total Opening Renegades to finish of the night and would see a great battle up front between Tylor Terry and Jason Bogett and Boggett would get the win down the stretch for his first career win. Next weekend will be a big night at Airborne Speedway as it will be Kid Ride's Night presented by Ferris Tractors along with $1,500 to win Sportsman Modified and $750 to Limited Sportsman Modified. Tylor Terry (44) leads brother Josh Terry (43) and Jason McClatchie (70) into turn 1 off the restart as he would go onto win the Hartson Total Opening Renegades main. It would be the fifteenth race of the season at the Airborne Speedway and it would be the First Responder and Military Night as they would also honor the veterans from the area as the North Country Honor Flight would be honored before the race. Once the opening ceremony got over with the racing would take to the track and first up would be the heat races for the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified for there three heats and the winners were Jake Scarbrough, Tanner Forbes, and Mike Wright. Then next up would be the Hartson Total Opening Renegades with there two heats and the wins would be Richie Turner and Tyler Irwin. Next up would be the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified and the heat would be won by Scott Fitzgerald. Then to finish off the heats would be Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders with there three heats and the winners would be Glenn Engstrom, Nick Harden and Jake Fountain. First up for the main events would be the Limited Sportsman Modified for there fifteen lap affair and when the dust would settle Scott Fitzgerald would come across with his first win at the Airborne Speedway. Then next up the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified with there 25 lap event and it would go green to checker caution free and the winner would be Jake Scarbrough over a hard charging Michael Wright for the win. Then next up would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders for there fidteen lap event and the winner would be Nick Harden over Bill Doner and Greg Zindler. Then to finish off the event it would be the Hartson Total Opening Renegades in there 25 lap event and the win would go Tylor Terry over hard chargers Richie Turner and Tyler Irwin to finish out the top three on the night. It would be round fourteenth of the Airborne Speedway and it would be the return of the 358 Modifieds with the big block/small block challenge presented by Moore Trucking with $4,000 going to the winner. First up in the heat races would be the Modifieds in there three heats with wins going to Adam Pierson, Jessey Mueller, and Jeremy Roy. Then next up would be the Taylor Rentals 4 Cylinders with three heats and winners would be Steven Bressette, JJ Laporte, and Caleb Tourville. Then we would have the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified for three heats with wins going to Travis Bruno, Mike Wright and Jake Scarbrough. Then next up would be the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified with there one heat and getting the win would be Scott Fitzgerald. Then to finish off the heats would be the Hartson Total Opening Renegades with there two heats and winners would be Nathaniel Guay and Chris Murray. Then it would be onto the main events for the night and first up would be Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders for there 15 lap event and the winner would be Steven Bressette over the Laportes (JJ and Josh). Then next up would be the main event of the night with the Big Block/Small Block Challenge and there 40 lap event and $4,000 to win and when the dust would settle the winner would be Erick Rudolph over Jessey Mueller and Mike Mahanney to finish off the top three. Then we would have the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified 25 lap event and we would have a first time winner on the night as Fire Swamp would capture the flag over Travis Bruno and Dave Rodgers. Then it would be the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified and when the dust settled we would have a first time winner on the night with Bubba McPhee. Then to finish off the night would be the Hartson Total Opening Renegades with a 25 lap event would be Nathaniel Guay with his fourth win of the season this time over both of the Terry Brothers as Tylor and Josh round out the top three. Bo Duke Night Presented by Moore Trucks July 23rd 2022

John Schneider (Bo Duke) and Karl Frederick of Speedway Illustrated joke before there match race with a pair of Renegades cars. It would be round thirteen of the season at the Airborne Speedway and it would be Bo Duke Night at the track presented by Moore Trucks. The four weekly divisions would all be in action with the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified, Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified, Hartson Total Opening Renegades, and Taylor Rentals 4 Cylinders but before the racing action got under way there would be a grudge match to settle between John Schneider "Bo Duke" and Karl Frederick with a seven lap race that would see Bo Duke take the win even with Frederick taking some shortcuts on the track and would end with Bo Duke getting chased by the local sheriff. After the excitement of Bo Duke it would be onto the racing card for the evening. First out of the box would be a heat race for the the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified with the wins going to Beau Reeves, Jonathan Toohill, and Matt Leonard. Then up would be the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified with the heat win going to Pryor Stacey. Then it would be Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders with there three heat races and the wins would go to Chuck Mooney, Josh Blake and Greg Zindler. Then we would finish off the heat race portion of the night with two heats for the Hartson Total Opening Renegades and wins going to Rick Frenyea and Josh Terry. Then it would be on to the mains of the night and it would start with the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified and would see Pryor Stacey get another run away inside the division as the 15 lap race would go green to checker caution free. Then up would be the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified with three 25 lap race and would see Jonathan Toohill start on the front row and take the lead for most of the night as he would be going for his career win inside of the division. Although with five laps to go he would see his lead go away as Matt Leonard would sneak under for take the win for his second win on the season Toohill would hold on for second as Chris Cayea would round out the top three on the night. Then next up would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders for there 15 lap main and would see Chuck Mooney get the early lead from the pole. Although the lead would short lived as Josh Blake would get around him for the early race lead. He would keep the lead until there was a late race restart and it would see Kenny Tourville get around him for his first win of the season. Then it would be the final race of the night with the Hartson Total Opening Renegades in a 25 lap race and would see a great duel between Josh Terry and Tyler Irwin as they were the class of the field and it would see Tyler Irwin getting to the finish line first for his first win of the season. The Airborne Speedway will be taking next week off as the county fair is in town but will be back on August 6th in a big way as it would be the big block/small block Modified Challenge. Gallery

Mike Wright (78) and Joey Scarbrough (11vt) battle for the lead in the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified A Main as they both were going for their first win of the season at the Airborne Speedway. It would be the 12th race of the season at the Airborne Speedway as it would be Make A Wish Presented by Liquor and Wine Warehouse and the drivers and fans would raise thousands of dollars for the local make a wish. Once the racing would get underway the Hartson Total Opening Renegades would start with their first two heats and the wins would go to Richie Turner and Tylor Terry. Then next would be the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified for their three heats and getting the wins would be Roger Leberche, Chris Cayea, and Mike Wright. Then to finish off the heats on the night would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders with their three heats and the winners would be Jason Bradley, Nathan Smart, and Josh LaPorte. The track would have a brief intermission before the mains so that they would work on the track along with having the drivers go into the stands and pass the helmet for donations to the local make a wish foundation. Once the racing goes back on track the first main on tap for the night would be the Hartson Total Opening Renegades for their 25 lappers. It would see a great battle up front between Jim McKerrien and Richie Turner over the last ten laps of the race and when the checkers feel Richie Turner would have his second straight win over Jim McKerrien and Billy Thwaits would round out the top three. Then it would be the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified for their 25-lap event. Michael Wright would get off to the early race lead over Roger Leberche. Although he would be challenged early by Chris Cayea who would come up from his 6th place start and they would swap the lead a few times. Although another racer would throw his name in the mix and that would be Joey Scarbrough as he would come up from the 9th place and take the lead and hold on for his first win of the season. Then it would be the last race of the night and it would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders in their 15-lap affair. It would see Jason Bradley get off to an early race lead. However, there would be midrace caution that would tighten the field back up and put race favorites Jake Fountain and Nathan Smart on his back bumper. Once the race resumed there would be a three-way battle for a few laps and then Nick Harnden would stick his way in there and make 4 cars. They would do away Bradley and it would leave it to Fountain Smart and Harden to go for the win and it would see Fountain edge out Smart for the win at the line. Although Jake Fountain and Nate Smart would both fail the post-race inspection and Nick Harden would end up getting the win. Join us again next week at the Airborne Speedway for another weekly night of the race and special guest John Scheinder "Bo Duke" from the Dukes of Hazzard will attend a match race with Karl Fredericks.
