The #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Trinity Bantams in nonconference hockey action. This would be a even game for the most part. The Cardinals would finally break the ice in the scoring department at 9:24 of the third period when Ashley Songin would score to make it 1-0 Cardinals. Then at the 12:02 mark of the third period, the Cardinals would extend there lead to 2-0 on Melissa Sheeran's goal. Then in the final minute of the game, the Cardinals would add an empty-net goal from Megan Kraus to secure the 3-0 victory. In the winning effort, Kassi Abbott would make all 22 saves in the shutout victory as the Cardinals go to 9-2 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Kassi Abbott (29) with the save off the head as part of her 22 saves shutout performance. The #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Potsdam State Bears in New England Women's Hockey League action. The Cardinals would take the early 1-0 lead at 3:37 of the first period on Cortney Moriarty's goal. Then in the closing seconds of the first Annie Katonka would score to make it 2-0 Cardinals after the first period. When the teams came back for the second period it would be more of the same for the Cardinals. As the Cardinals would score three times with goals coming from Melissa Sheehan (twice) and Mackenize Millen for the 5-0 lead. In the third period, the Cardinals wouldn't let up as they would score three more times. This time the Cardinals would get tallies from Mackenzie Millen and Annie Katonka (twice that would give Katonka the hat trick on the night as the Cardinals secure the 8-0 victory. In the winning effort, Kassi Abbott would stop all 22 shots for the shutout as the Cardinals go to 7-2 on the season. Gallery

#3 Elimira Soaring Eagles @ #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals UNO Classic Championship NCAA Division II Women's Hockey December 9th 2017

Plattsburgh's State's Melisea Sheeran (26) puts a shot on the goalie as she skates across in front to put the puck on net. It would be the finals of the UNO Classic as former conference foes the #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals host the #3 Elimra Soaring Eagles. The Eagles would get the opening goal of the game at 12:03 of the first period from Katie Granato. The Eagles would extend the lead to 2-0 on Durnell's goal at 18:16 of the first period. The Cardinals would immediately make it a one goal game again on Courtney Moriarty's goal 22 seconds later. The Cardinals would come out firing in the second period and tie the game up at 2 30 seconds into the second period on Mackenize Mullen's goal. Although just over two minutes later the Soaring Eagles would regain the 3-2 lead on Emma Crooker's goal. The Eagles would add a empty netter in the closing minute to secure the 4-2 victory. With the win the Elimra Soaring Eagles would be crowned the 2017 UNO Classic champion. While the Cardinals would fall to 6-2 behind Brooke Wolejko's 20 save night. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Melissa Sheeran (26) comes in one on one with a defender draped all over her as she gets the shot off. It would be a rematch of the last year's national championship as the #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host #4 Adrian Bulldogs in the semi-finals of the UNO Classic. In a game that would live up to all the hype, it would be the defenses that would be on display. The lone goal of the game would come from Courtney Moriarty on a scramble play in front of the net with seven seconds left in the first period. That would be all the Cardinals would need as they hold on for the 1-0 victory behind 28 saves from Kassi Abbott. As the Cardinals go to 6-1 on the season and will face the Elmira Soaring Eagles in the finals of the UNO Classic. Gallery

The game would remain there til 14:34 of the second when Mackenzie Millen would score to make it 2-0 Cardinals. The game would remain there until 8:36 of the third period when Ashley Songrin would score to make it 3-0 Cardinals The scoring would end at the 14:38 mark when Courtney Moriarty would score on the power play for her second goal of the night as the Cardinals would secure the 4-0 victory. Plattsburgh State's Kayla Meneghien tapa in the puck for the goal on the weak side as part of two-goal night. It would be a matchup between the top two ranked teams as #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #2 Norwich Cadets. The Cadets would get the quick opening goal as Sophie McGovern would score 29 seconds into the game. The Cardinals return fire and score two goals just over a minute apart at the four-minute mark from Kayla Meneghien and Courtney Moriarty for the 2-1 lead. The Cadets would tie the game at two at 5:06 on the Muranda Toews goal. The game would remain there till the 3:57 nark of the third period when Sophie McGovern would score on the power play to make it 3-2. Then at the 10:11 mark, the Cadets would double there lead on the Bryn Labbe goal. The Cardinals would keep fighting and would get a goal late from Kayla Meneghien's second goal of the night. Although it would be enough as the Cardinals would fall 4-3. In the losing effort, Kassi Abbott would make 32 saves as the Cardinals go to 3-1 on the season. Gallery

When the teams back for the second period the Toms would tie the game at two on two goals in the first five minutes. The Cardinals would regain the lead at 3-2 on Mackenize Millen's goal at 8:31 of the second period. The game would stay there until the 13:56 mark of the third period when Jordan Lipson would score to make it 4-2. From there on the Cardinals would hold on for the 4-2 victory. The Cardinals would extend there lead to 2-0 on Melissa Sheeran's goal at 13:49. Then just 17 seconds later the Pioneers would score to keep it a one-goal game. The Cardinals would regain the two-goal lead at 3-1 on Erin Brand's powerplay goal. Then just 45 seconds later Erin Brand would score again on the power play to make it 4-1. Then at the 9:33 mark of the third period Cardinals, Melissa Sheeran would get her second goal of the night to make it 5-1. The game would remain scoreless through the first period and the Pioneers would take the 1-0 lead a minute into the second period. The Cardinals would fight back and tie the game at one Kayla Meneghin goal. Then the Cardinals would take the 2-1 lead at the four minute mark of third on Kayla Meneghin shorthanded goal. Then in the final minute of the game Megan Crandell would add the empty netter to secure the 3-1 victory. The Cardinals would open the scoring at 3:20 of the first period on the Sarah Wolfe goal to make it 1-0. Then at the 7:57 mark of the 1st period, the Cardinals would extend the lead to 2-0 on the Megan Crandell goal. Then under a minute later the Cardinals would make it 3-0 on the Melissa Ames goal. The Cardinals would add one more in the 1st period on the Meghan Kraus goal to make it 4-0. The Pioneers would get on the board near the need of the first to make it 4-1 Cardinals after the 1st period. That is where the game would stay until the 9-minute mark of the third when the Pioneers would score to make it 4-2. Then just over two minutes later the Cardinals would regain there three-goal lead at 5-2 on Ashley Songin goal. Then at the 13:17 mark of the third, the Cardinals would end there scoring on the Mackenize Millen goal to secure the 6-2 victory.
