The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals gave an all-out effort against arch-rival and #8 Oswego Lakers but would suffer their first loss of the season on a 5-2 defeat. With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 3-1 after the first two weeks of the season. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals started off their weekend home series against the Cortland Red Dragons in a game that they would dominate from start to finish for the 5-1 victory. The Cardinals would take the early 1-0 lead in the 1st period and never look back from that point. With the win, the Cardinals improved to 3-0 on the early season.
