Plattsburgh State's Tessa Morris gets the goal on the scramble in front of the net as they get the 2-0 win. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would return home to start the 2025 home portion of their season with a game inside the SUNYAC and also a matchup between top ten teams as the #7 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #6 Oswego State Lakers in the first of a pair of games on the weekend at the field house. The game would be evenly matched for the first 30 minutes as neither team could light the lamp, but not for not having chances on the net. The Cardinals would finally break through on the powerplay at 10:35 when Mattie Norton sliced it through the defenders for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 2:21 mark of the third period when the Cardinals would find the back of the net, this time from Tessa Morris, for the 2-0 lead. From there, the Cardinals would shut down the Lakers and get the 2-0 win. In the winning effort on the afternoon, Chloe Lewis recorded the shutout as she has 28 saves, and the Cardinals go to 9-2-1 on the season, and they will take on the Lakers again tomorrow. As for the Oswego State, the Lakers would suffer their first loss in the season and go to 8-1-1 as they return to the field house tomorrow. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Mattie Norton (12) with the goal as the puck slices through the defenders for the 1-0 lead. Plattsburgh State's Tessa Morris (24) comes in on a wrister trying to add to her earlier goal. The #7 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would return home for the first time since November 2nd, and this time, they would take on SUNYAc for the Buffalo State Bengals in front of 360 fans at the Ronnie B Stafford Ice Arena. The Cardinals would open the scoring on the power play with Kayson Ruegge's goal at the 13:37 mark of the first period. The Cardinals would waste little time extending their lead to 2-0 on Tessa Morris's goal 2 minutes later. The game would remain there till the 11:05 mark of the third period when Mae Olshansky would score for the Cardinals and make it a 3-0 game. Then, to finish off the scoring for the Cardinals, a minute later, Kate Conlon lights the lamp and makes it a 4-0, and that's where the game would finish. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, Chloe Lewis would make nine saves on the day for the shutout, and the Cardinals would go to 4-1. The Cardinals will return to action next weekend at home as they will host the Cardinal Panther Classic and will take on St. Norbert. Gallery

NCAA Quarterfinals: #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #6 Middlebury Panthers March 9th 2024

Middlebury's Audrey Lazar with the opening goal of the game to give the Panthers the 1-0 lead. It would be time to start the NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Tournament again from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #6 Middlebury Panthers as the classic rivals would meet again with a ticket to the final four on the line in front of 900 passionate fans. The visiting Panthers would get the opening goal of the first period just over the halfway mark of the first period and take the 1-0 lead on the Audrey Lazar goal. The game would stay there till the 7:32 mark of the second period when the Panthers would double their lead to 2-0 on the Kate Flynn goal. From there defense would be the main course on the menu as it would be the only two goals on the day but it would not be without some great effort by the Cardinals to try and get back in the game. In the winning effort for the Panthers, Sophia Will would make 30 saves for the shutout victory. As for the Cardinals Lilla Nease would do her best stopping 15 of 17 on the day but the Cardinals would fall short of the final four for the first time since the 2011 season as their season comes to an end at 22-5-1. The Middlebury Panthers punch their ticket to the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Frozen Four with a 2-0 win over the Plattsburgh State Cardinals. It would be time to start the NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Tournament again from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #6 Middlebury Panthers as the classic rivals would meet again with a ticket to the final four on the line in front of 900 passionate fans. The Cortland Red Dragons are crowned the 2024 SUNYAC Women's Hockey Champions as they defeat the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals. It would be conference championship Saturday afternoon once again for the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals except this time they would be going after the first ever SUNYAC title as they would take on the #2 Cortland State Red Dragons in front of 1200 fans at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. It would be a very evenly contested game through the first period as both teams would have their chances but no one could get on the board. The game would finally get the first goal of the game at the 10:13 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead on the Mae Olshansky powerplay goal. The lead would be short-lived as the Cortland State Red Dragons would answer back just over three minutes later on the Mia Hisanick powerplay goal to tie the game at two. The game would remain there through the rest of the second period and all of the third period sending the first-ever crowning for the SUNYAC title into the overtime period. In the overtime we would have to answer quickly as Cortland State's Elena Eichmann would light the lamp just 2:33 into the overtime and the party would be on for the Cortland State Red Dragons as they would get their first-ever women's conference tournament title and head to the NCAA Tournament. In the winning effort, Molly Goergen would make 26 saves on the day as they go to 19-5-2. The season is not over though for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they will get an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 21-4-2 mark on the season and both teams will find out their opponent when the bracket is announced Sunday evening. The home Cardinals would waste little time getting out to the lead as they would take the 1-0 lead 5:40 into the game on the Julia Masotta goal. Then the Cardinals would expand their lead to 2-0 at the 10:31 mark of the period on Julia Masotta's second goal of the game. The game would stay there till the 3:30 mark of the second period when Ciara Wall would score on the powerplay to make it 3-0. Then with a second left in the period the Cardinals Julia Masotta would complete her hat trick to give the Cardinals the 4-0 lead after the second period. The game would stay there till there was 3:59 left in the game when Hailee Easson would score for the Mustangs to break up the shutout and make it a 4-1 game. However, the Cardinals would answer right back 57 seconds later to make it a 5-1 game and win on Julia Masotta's fourth goal of the afternoon. In the winning effort, the Cardinals advance to the first SUNYAC Women's Hockey Championship next weekend at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena against the Cortland State Red Dragons for the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
