Plattsburgh's Riguelson Filosca (51) steps in front of the receiver for the interception and would return it 57 yards for the touchdown. It would be a rare Monday night game in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Saranac Lake Red Storm would travel to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets to put an end to week 6. The game would be a defensive battle through most of the first half as the Hornets would get the lone score of the half from Trenton Griffiths on a 9 yard run in the closing minute of the half and take the 7-0 lead at the break. As the second half would start the Hornet's defense would stay strong as they would have a 51-yard interception for a score from Riguelson Filosca and extend their lead to 14-0. Then on the next Red Storm drive the Hornets defense would answer again with another interception for a score this time 58 yards and Michael Phillips to take a 21-0 lead. Then at the 3:18 mark of the fourth quarter, the Hornets would put the icing on the cake with a 12 yard run by Trenton Griffiths for his second score of the game. With 4:25 left in the game, the Red Storm would get on the board to avoid the shutout on the Markus Navarra 11 yard touchdown to make it a 27-7 game and that's where the game would end. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 3-3 on the season and will finish off their season at Ausable Valley. As the Saranac Lake Red Storm falls to 3-3 on their season and will finish at home against Peru.

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 6 Moriah Vikings @ Ausable Valley Patriots October 9th 2021

Ausable Valley's Garcia is hit as he launches the pass down the field on the pass attempt. It would be week #6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action and the Ausable Valley Patriots would host the Moriah Vikings. The Vikings would show why they came into this game undefeated as they would get the opening score at the 4:27 mark of the first quarter on the Riley Demarias on the 28 yards run for the 7-0 lead. The Vikings would double up their lead in the first minute of the second quarter on the 8 yards run by Dakota Wright for the 14-0 lead. Then in the final minute of the half, the Vikings would start to pull away as Riley Demarias would strike for the second time from 5 yards out and take the 22-0 lead to the break. When the teams came back for the second half the defenses on both sides would step up as the Vikings would get the lone score of the half at the 4:13 mark of the fourth quarter as Riley Demararias would get his third score of the night to secure the 28-0 victory. In the winning effort, the Moriah Vikings go to 6-0 on the season as they will finish up the regular season against the Saranac Chiefs. While the Ausable Valley Patriots fall to 4-2 and will finish their season against Plattsburgh.

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 6 Beekmantown Eagles @ Peru Nighthawks October 9th 2021

Peru's Riley Hebert (8) with the catch along the sidelines and turns it upfield for the gain. It would be week 6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and it would be the classic rivalry as the Peru Nighthawks would host the Beekmantown Eagles. It would take long for the first score of the game as the Nighthawks would score in the first minute of a 57-yard quarterback keeper as Zach O'Connell would keep it for the score and 7-0 lead. It would only be a minute and a half later and the Nighthawks would double up their lead on a 17-yard pass to Keegan Smith to make it 14-0. The game would stay there till there were four minutes left in the half when the Eagles would cut the deficit in half at 14-7 on the 30-yard pass to Peyton Viau. Although the Nighthawks wouldn't want to be outdone as they would score in the closing seconds of the half as Keegan Smith would get his second score of the game to make it 21-7 at the half. In the second half, both of the defenses would step up their games and there would be just one score. As Peru's Keegan Smith would get his third score of the game this time on the ground for 8 yards and secure the 28-7 victory. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks go to 5-1 and will finish off their season at Saranac Lake next week. While the Eagles fall to 1-5 on the season and finish of there season next week against Ticonderoga.

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 4 Plattsburgh Hornets @ Saranac Chiefs October 9th 2021

Saranac's Ryan Devins (5) with the leaping catch along the sidelines for the big gain as the Chiefs drive to the endzone. It would be week #4 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Saranac Chiefs would be hosting the Plattsburgh Hornets in the battle of the Saranac River. It would be a matchup between a couple of fairly evenly matched teams as there would be no scoring in the first quarter. Although the Hornets would strike quickly in the second quarter on a 91-yard pass and catch to Michael Phillips just 14 seconds into the second quarter. Then just over a minute later, Ben Bourdeau would scramble for the 36-yard score for the 14-0 lead. Although the score would come at a cost for the Hornets as Bourdeau would end up breaking his leg on the play ending his season. The Hornets would take that 14-0 lead into the second half and the third quarter would also have no scoring on the board. At the 5 minute mark of the fourth quarter, Braeden McGinnis would break it for a 44-yard run and score and make it a 21-0 Hornets lead. Then with just over 2:40 left in the game, the Hornets would secure the win on the Colin Golden win on a 9 yard run for the 28-0 lead and win, In the winning effort the Plattsburgh Hornets go to 3-2 on the season and will play Saranac Lake next while the Saranac Chiefs fall to 0-5 and play Ticonderoga next.

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 3 Saranac Lake Red Storm @ Beekmantown Eagles

It would be week three of the Champlain Valley Atheltic Conference season and the Saranac Lake Red Storm would travel to Beekmentown and take on the Eagles in what would turn out to be a shootout of a game. The scoring would start off slow as the Red Storm would have the lone score in the opening quarter by Carter Hewitt on a nine-yard run for the 7-0 lead. The Eagles would fight back and tie the game at the 4:45 mark of the second quarter on the Andrew Vannatten 66 yard run for the score and tie the game at seven. Although on ensuring Red Storm drive they would retake the lead at 14-7 on the Carter Hewitt 47 yard run. Although the Eagles would have an answer as Andrew Vannatten would strike again this time through the air with a 39-yard pass and would tie the game at 14 with under three minutes left in the half and that's where the score is is would remain for the first half. During the halftime, the Beekmentown Eagles would honor many different greats from their sports pass as they would enter their first class into the Beekmantown Eagles hall of fame. Although when the teams came back for the second half they must have really hit the Gatorade for some extra energy cause the shootout was on. The Red Storm would regain the lead for the third time on Carter Hewitt's third rushing touchdown of the night and make it a 21-14 game. Although the Eagles would have answered five minutes later not be outdone Andrew Vannatten would get his third touchdown of the night (2 rushings, 1 passing) although they would miss the extra point 21-20. The Red Storm seeing an opening would take advantage as Carter Hewitt would strike for a 51-yard touchdown 30 seconds later and extend their lead to 28-20. The Red Storm would extend their lead as the fourth quarter started as Hewitt would get his fifth touchdown of the night and make it a 35-20 game. Then just two minutes later the Red Storm would try to put the icing on the cake with a 36-yard interception for a touchdown and extend their lead to 42-20. That is where the game would stay till there was about 1:30 left in the game when Andrew Vannaten would get his 2nd receiving touchdown of the game and the Eagles would try for two and fail and the score would be 42-26. The Eagles would recover the onside kick and get a quick score again from Vannatten with 36 seconds left in the game to make 42-33. So once again they would attempt the onside kick and recovery it again. The Eagles would take it quickly down the field and score again thanks to Andrew Vannaten and make it 42-39. The late Eagles charge wouldn't be enough as they lose 42-39 and fall to 1-2 on the season while the Red Storm go to 3-1 on the season. Bext up for the Eagles would be meeting with Moriah while the Red Storm will head to Au Sable Valley.

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 3 Ticonderoga Sentinels @ Plattsburgh Hornets October 1st 2021

Ticonderoga's Braeden Perry (80) broke through the tackle attempt by Plattsburgh's Colin Golden. It would be Week #3 of the Champlain Valley Atheltic Conference season and the Plattsburgh Hornets would be hosting the Ticonderoga Sentinels on what would be early senior night for the Hornets. The Ticonderoga Sentinels would get the quick score and lead as they would run back the opening kick of the game 82 yards for the score thanks to Ayden Smith. Although the Hornets would answer back in a swarm with 33 points in the first quarter with four scores from Trenton Griffiths and one from Michael Phillips as they would have a 33-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets would add to more Braeden McGinnis and Dylan Crowley-Williams as the Hornets would lead 47-6 at the half. When the teams returned for the second half the teams would trade a pair of scores as you could see the Hornets had downshifted for the half scoring for the Hornets would be Colin Golden and Landon Coon while scoring for the Sentinels would be Connor Yaw and Vigliotti. As the Plattsburgh Hornets would hold onto the 60-18 victory and go to 2-2 on the season while the Sentinels go to 0-4 on the season.

Dirtcar Racing: Mohawk International Raceway Mohawk Nationals Night #2 Presented by Good Leaf Dispensary September 17th 2021

Dave Rodgers (144) would use the highside to his advantage and get the win for the sweep on the weekend. It would be the second night of the Mohawk Nationals presented by Good Leaf Dispensary and on the card for the night would be the Dirtcar Pro Stocks, Sportsman Modified, Mod Lites, and 4 Cylinders. First up for the main events would be the 4 Cylinders and they would put on a show with the class of the field be Tony Frezzeo and Francis White and they would beat and bang down the stretch and the win would go to Francis White. Next up would be the Mod Lites and for the second night in a row the winner would be Tucker Halladay but he would have to hold off a top contender in Kyle Demo. Then we would have the 35 laps Dirtcar Pro Stock event and it would be a show between Kevin Featherley and Craig Jesseo, Featherley would lead the first half of the race until there was an issue with the car and then Craig Jesseo would take the lead and then cruise to the victory. Then to finish off the night of racing for the year at the Mohawk International Raceway would be the Sportsman Modified and once again it would be the Dave Rodgers show as he would get the sweep on the weekend and close out the year of racing at the Mohawk International Raceway. Dirtcar Racing: Mohawk International Raceway Mohawk Nationals Night #1 Presented by St Lawerence Radiology September 17th 2021

Dave Rodgers (144) using the high side to his advantage to get his first Mohawk International Raceway victory. It would be night #1 of the Mohawk Nationals presented by St. Lawerence Radiology with the Dirtcar 358 Modified Series, Sportsman Modified, Mod Lites, and Super Stock. Just as hot laps were wrapping a rainstorm would come through it would only last 30 minutes but in that time it would dump a ton of water on the track but the track crew would not give up as they would get to work right after the rain went through and we would eventually get back on the track as the racing would start around 11 pm. The first race out on the track would also be a main inside of the Super Stock division and the track would definitely still be a little moisture still in the track as they would have issues keeping the cars under control doing the best in the wet would be Tyler Bushey bringing home the victory. Next up as far as the mains would be the Mod Lites and you would see a return to the track familiar one in victory lane as Tucker Halliday would get the 20 lap win. Then to track would be the 358 Modified Series for a 60 lap event and getting the lead off the start is Ryan Barlett. He would be able to hold the lead to lap 30 when he made a mistake and Erick Rudolph capitalize and took the lead. Although he would not be able to cruise away and hide as Billy Dunn and Tim Fuller would be hard-charging trying to take it away but Erick Rudolph would hold on for the win. Then the last race of the night/morning would be Sportsman Modified in the 8th annual Pete Mitchell memorial event. Corey Castell would take the lead off the start of the 54 lap race. On lap 14 Dave Rodgers would use a lapper a pick and take the leade over Castell. From there Dave Rodgers would be in control for his first at the Mohawk International Raceway but that would not be without challenge Dan Rombough and Ryan Shanhann with that racing would come to end at about three in the morning and it would be quick rest and onto night #2 at mohawk nationals. Championship Night Presented By Taylor Rental @ Airborne Speedway September 4th 2021

Nathaniel Gauy still riding the high of his first career win last week would win again inside the Renegade division for his second straight win. It would be Taylor Rental Championship night at the Airborne Speedway and there would be a couple of points battles that would come down to the bitter end. When the dust would settle after the heat races and it was time for the mains on the night the Hartson Total Opening Renegades would be first up and the championship was between three guys Zack Daniels, Tylor Tyler, and Shawn Duquette and still riding high from his first career win last week Nathaniel Guay would pull it back into victory lane for the second week in a row. Although with his second-place finish on the night Zack Daniels would be crowned the points champion. Then it would be the main event of the evening as the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified would hit the track for a 50 lap event and as far as the championship went Justin Severance lead Travis Bruno by 6 points heading into the night when the dust settled on the night the professor Bucko Branham would find his way into victory lane for the first time this season and Travis Bruno would come home 2nd and make up the distance and be crowned 2021 track champion. Then it would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders and Nate Smart thought he was in good shape for the title as he came in with a 12 point lead over Josh Laporte. Although that is the way they race and it would be a first on the night as Codey Agony would get his first career 4 cylinder win and Josh Laporte would do everything he could do to overcome the gap and finish a hard-charging second while Nate Smart would be stuck back in traffic and finish second although that would be enough to win the title by a mere 2 points. Dirtcar Racing: Mohawk International Raceway Championship Night Presented by Frenchies Chevy and Ford September 3rd 2021

The season long battle one more time

Nick Heywood and DJ Gonyo would do battle one more time for the lead as they would end up being 1 and 2 in points at season end. It would be the last night of points racing at the Mohawk International Raceway. When the dust had settled on the heats its was on to the main events for one more time where it counted and first up would be the bandit's divisions Curtis Smith would start in eighth and by the end of the first lap would have the lead and cruise to the victory for his second straight on the season although Francis White would have a big enough lead and clinch the title. Then next up would be the Mod Lites and the championship would come down to between Tristan Dibble and Nick Mallette. Although Dibble would leave little doubt as to who's the title as it would be as he gets the lead off the start of the race he lead the first two-thirds of the race until he was passed with five to go by Jason Premo who would get his first win of the season. Although Dibble's second in the race would be enough to be crowned the 2021 track champion. Then next up would be the Sportsman Modified with the series already locked up last weekend it was just going out there to see who can get the last bragging rights for the season and Derric Ellsworth would get the lead off the start. Although the lead would be short-lived as he would hand it over to Justin Stone on lap 2. Although the cream would rise to the top as Nick Heywood would take the lead on lap 15 and lead the remainder to win the last one of the season take his seventh victory at the track this year. Then there was one race left and it would be the stars of tomorrow in the Novice Sportsman Modified to close out the season with Blayden Arquiet already clinching the title lets see who can get the win. Chad Vallance would take the lead off the start and lead the first half of the race as he was searching for his second win of the season. Although he would be denied by the second half of the season story as Steve Bushey would take the lead on lap nine and get the win for his third win of the season. Gallery
