Cory Castell(10X) who was coming fresh off his first ever win the prior week a favorite in the A Main as well. On lap 18, Castell would take the lead after Cook went high side coming off of turn 4. After a green white checkered restart, Castell got a great restart as well as DJ Gonyo(04G). They would go neck and neck on the back straightaway and on turns 3 and 4, Gonyo went high side and Castell would end up taking the checkered flag. Jason McClatchie (70) dives under Nathaniel Guay to take the lead during the Hartson Total Opening Renegades Main event. It would be the fifth week of racing at the Airborne Speedway in the 2021 season on VP Fuels Night and there would be the standard four classes in action with the Sportsman Modifieds, Renegades, 4 Cylinders, and the Limited Sportsman Modified. With all the action from the qualifying heat races in the books, it would be onto the mains for the even. The first one up for the night would be the Hartson Total Opening Renegades after the carnage from the main last week everyone would have their cars back together and have a field of 14 cars. Coming from mid-pack and making a charge in the caution-free 25 lap event Jason McClatchie would get the win in his return to the Renegades after being in the Sportsman Modifieds the last few seasons. He would make the pass on Nathaniel Guay as Guay would start on the pole and the later the race went the loser the car would get and finishing out the top three would be Tylor Terry and Zack Daniels. Next up would be the main event of the evening with the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified for their 30 lap main event. There would be a surprise first-time winner on the night as Cory Castell would start on the pole and get the win for the first-ever Sportsman Modified victory leading wire to wire. Although it would be a wire-to-wire win he would have to hold off Nick Heywood on multiple restarts along with a charging Lonnie Rivers. It definitely would be interesting down the stretch as a late-race multi-car accident would make him have to hold off Nick Heywood for the win. Then it would be the Taylor Rentals 4 Cylinders with a field of 13 cars on track it is one of their bigger shows on the season. There was a 50 dollar bonus put up by Chris Frennier Motorsports to the winner if the 15 lap event went caution-free and for the first 10 laps it looked like it might happen but then in the last five laps they would have four cautions and when the dust settled getting the win making his return to the track after a few years away would be Michael Whalen. Then the last event of the season would be the Chris Frennier Motorsports Limited Sportsman Modified and once again blowing away the field would be the youngster Blayden Arquiett as he continues to amaze the people with his talent at 13 years old. The roar of the engines will return to the Airborne Speedway next weekend with their 4 weekly division plus the return of the Nostalgia Tour. Gallery

When the heat races were done the first main event up would be the Super Stock division with a 12 lap race and for the second week in a row, the win would be Zack Daniels. Then we would have the 4 Cylinder (Bandits) division and after last weekend coming in second to Matt Zira, Francis White would get the win on a caution-free ten-laps race not without a late-race charge from Kaleb Shepard. Then next up would be the Mod-Lites and making a guest appearance in the division would be Mike Mereseca and in only 2 races in the cars, he would come from the middle of the pack and get the win. Then it would be the Limited Sportsman Modifieds for the rookie drivers in the division early race leader Blayden Arquiett would be pulling away from the field as he was going for the second win in a row but as he was trying to get under a lap car he would catch one of the yoke tires and collapse the who front right end of the racecar. With that taking advantage of the mishap would be Pryor Stacey and get his first win. Then there was just one race left for the night and it would be the Mohawk Sportsman Modified Series 40 lap event. Taking the lead off the start would be Nick Heywood and would be leading the first 24 laps and lapping up 12th place until there was a caution. Off the restart, he would keep the lead but there would another caution from a wreck. That restart would see Nick Heywood and Jamy Begor and Heywood would switch and take the top giving the bottom to Jamy and Begor would get the lead off the start and hold on for the last ten laps get the victory his first of the season. Nick Heywood (29) and Jamy Begor (19) dive down into turn 1 as they battle for the lead in the late stages of the 30 lap J+S Steel Sportsman Modified A-Main. It would be the fourth weekend of racing at the Airborne Speedway and it would be Triple 15s for the Renegades presented by Seacomm and also in attendance would be the Sportsman Modifieds, and 4 Cylinders. There would be no heat races for the Renegades with the triple 15 setups and the winner on the night would be the driver with the lowest score. The Renegades would get the night started off before the other two classes even had their heat races with segment 1 and getting the win would be Shawn Duquette over the 16 car field although there would be a few that would drop out including Kaleb Shepard with a huge flip on the front stretch and rounding out the top three would be Billy Fountain and Zack Daniels. Then next for the mains would be the 4 Cylinders and after a few issues earlier in the season including a flip on the opening night of the season the win would go to Jake Fountain. Then we would have the second segment of the Renegades triple and getting the win would be Zack Daniels with Shawn Duquette finishing second a keeping a 1 point lead over Daniels. Then we would have the 30 laps J+S Steel Sportsman Modified event and start out front would be a huge help for Nick Heywood as he would lead the earn race and get his first win of the season at Airborne Speedway and his second win on the weekend as he had won at Mohawk the night before. Then to finish off the night it would be the third and final segment for the Renegades and as Jared Blake and Jim Mckerrian would battle up front for the segment win everyone would be watching the battle for third between Shawn Duquette and Zack Daniels as overall would comedown between them to with the eventual win going to Shawn Duquette by 2 points over Zack Daniels. They will be back in action next Saturday night at the Airborne Speedway for a regular show as part of VP Racing Fuels night. Gallery

Nick Heywood (29) out on cruise control as he takes the Sportsman Modified main with the wire to wire win. For the first time since the Mohawk Nationals in September 2019, there would be competitive racing at the Mohawk International Raceway and there would be a couple of changes as they would welcome a new division the Super Stock along with the 358 Modifieds being put on hiatus for a year as a lot of the racers are still not able to cross the broader. After the heat racing would be done they would have the mains and the first one up for the season would be the Dirtcar 4 Cylinders (Bandits) and it would be the classic battle up front between Matt Zira and Francis White and this time it would be Zira getting the best of him. Then it would be the brand new Super Stock division on track taking to the track even though the car count would be small what they had would put on a great show and the win would go to Zack Daniels. Then we would have the screamers in the Mod-Lites as there 12 cars would take to the track for the 15 laps main and when the dust would settle the win would go to Scott Sharpe. Then we would have the Novice Sportsman Modified and it would be the young man of Blayden Arquiett blowing the field away. Then to finish off the night it would be the Crossroads Tobacco Sportsman Modified for there 25 lap event and Nick Heywood would start on the pole and that would be pretty much all she wrote as he would take the lead and go out and hide as they ran the 25 laps caution-free Dan Reif would be second and Jamy Begor rounding out the top 3. They will all be back in action next weekend as it would be round 1 of the Mohawk Sportsman Modified Series. Gallery

Matt Depew (667) and Keith Flach (43) battling for the early race lead during the Modified main event and Flach would hang onto to get the win and third of his career at Albany Saratoga. It would be the fourth week of racing at the Albany Saratoga Speedway better know as the great race place. After all the qualifying was done for the night the only thing that would be left for the night would be the mains and the first one up would be the 4 cylinders for 15 laps and charging from the back to take the lead would be the Jaxson Ryan as the first caution would come out on lap 6 for a spin by Matt Galusha. They would only get one lap in and the caution would be back out for caution for a wreck in turn. On issuing restart the 4 of Jaxson Ryan would just cut clean and Damian Ward would inherit the lead and get the eventual winner on the night. Then next up would be the Street Stock main event with all the action coming in the first five laps as there would be 3 cautions in that time with the big one being when leaders Jimmy Duncan and Paul Braymer would get hooked together and slide to the inside wall. Once the early race wrecking was taken care it would be a great dash to the finish as Josh Bussino would get the win over John Filarecki and Jason Samrov. Then the third main of the night would be the ground-pounding earthshaking Modifieds and it would be a feat just to make the field of 30 for the main as over 40 racers showed up for the night. The race would take a bit to get us there would be three cautions in the first nine laps including a rollover by a newcomer to the 358 ranks Jack Speshock as he hit a hole headed into turn 1. The action would be in the middle of the pack as Andrew Pergero and Larry Wight would charge up to second and third behind Keith Flach. There would be a caution just over the halfway mark with 14 laps to go and Flach Pergero and Wight at the front although they wouldn't have an answer as Flach would just pull away and take the victory. Then we would have the Sportsman Modified race and it would be a career night from Jim Nagle as he would come up from his top ten starting position and take the lead and outlast Cody Ochos and Andrew Buff for the first Sportsman Modified event win. After that, it would be the Limited Sportsman Modified turn to take to the track, and once again it would be the Dylan Madsen show as he would get his second win in four races on the season and now be just one win away from being called up to the big show at Albany Saratoga Speedway. Then to finish off the night of racing from Albany Saratoga would be the crowd-pleasing Pro Stocks Chuck Dumblewski would bottom feed on the track all night and get a win on the night over Jason Casey. They will be back racing next weekend at the great race place on May 14th as it will be Law Enforcement night and thousand to win for the Sportsman Modified and Pro Stock divisions. Gallery

Dirtcar Racing: Liquoir and Wine Warehouse Presents the 67th Season Opener Dirtcar Sprtsman North/East Series 40 Airborne Speedway May 1st 2021

under a blanket t the checkered

Nathanel Lepage

Matt Parker (8), Clemmy Bell and Naathan Smart come across the line right on top of each other. It would be the start of the 67th season of racing at the Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway as it would be the Liquor and Wine Warehouse Dirtcar Sportsman Modified North/East and would be the first race back at the track where fans were welcome since the close of the 2019 season. In the headline event, there would be 42 cars that would show up for the battle for a thousand dollars to but before they could even get there they would have to qualify as they would be taking 30 to the big dance. There would be some tight racing throughout all the divisions in the heat race action. With the heat racing and last chance qualifiers in the books, the first main of the night would be the 4 Cylinders and it would be a battle of endurance as they would start with 12 cars but by the time they finished there would only be six left. In that fifteen-lap event, the top three would come under the checkered in a blanket with Matt Parker getting the win over Nathan Smart and Clemmy Bell. After a delay for some much-needed track work, the Dirtcar Sportsman Modified North/East Series would take to the stage for their 30 lappers as the race would be reduced by ten laps because there was the weather in the area. Andrew Buff and Johnny Scarbrough would battle for the early lead although Buff would have to call a night early after getting involved with a lapper. With that Johnny Scarbrough would take the lead and win and cash in a cool thousand dollars. Although it would not be easy as he would have to deal with a hard-charging Justin Serevence and David Boisclair. Then we would have a 25 lap main for the Hatson Total Opening Renegades Zack Daniels would start on the pole and hold onto that for the win but it would not come without work as Jim McKerrian would get to the bumper but couldn't get around him and rounding out the top 3 would be Tylor Terry. Then to finish off the night would be the Limited Sportsman Modified for 15 laps and they would start with 6 cars but with the track conditions gone the way of the buffaloes there would only be three that would finish with the win going to Blayden Arquiett over Garrett Givens and Al Lajoie. They will be back racing at Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway next Saturday night (May 8th) check out the Airborne Speedway website though for the schedule on the night and also watch for the release of the full season schedule. Joe Daniels (46) and Tylor Terry (44) go side by side through turn 1 as they were battling for a third at the time but at end of the night it would be a winning battle as the top two would be dqed. It would be the second week of racing for Airborne Speedway and the four weekly divisions would all be in action as around 60 cars would grace the pits. With that being said everyone would make their respected main events as there would be no need for an lcq on the night. After the heat racing would be done it would be main time and the first one up would be the Renegades division and it would be a great battle up front between Shawn Duquette, Zack and Joe Daniels, and the Terry brothers Tylor and Josh as they would switch the lead many times over the 25 laps A main. When the dust settled we thought that the winner would be Shawn Duquette but that win would be taken away as he was disqualified along with second place Zack Daniels so the win would end up in the hand of Joe Daniels. Next up would be the 30 laps main for the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified and it would be a tight battle up front all night between Nick Heywood, DJ Gonyo, Bucko Branham, and David Boisclair. Nick Heywood would lead the opening would lead the first 20 laps but would have to retire after an apparent electrical issue. So over the last ten laps, the other three would battle it out. There would be a restart with 2 laps to go with Branham and Boisclair when they raced down to the stretch Boisclair would get the win for his first at the track. Next up would be the Limited Sportsman Modified and would battle up front between Al Lajoice and Mark Fewster and after three years chasing Mark Fewster would get first win behind a Sportsman Modified after a pass in the closing laps. Then the last race of the night would be the 4 cylinder class that would see 13 cars take the green flag but after a few crashes on the night only half would see the checkered flag with the win going to Nate Smart after a great battle with Caleb Tourville. The track will be alive again next Saturday night as it will be Law Enforcement night at the track with all four divisions back in action the only change on the schedule is we will head back to our traditional start time of 7 pm. It would the season opener for the Airborne Speedway and they would bring in the Dirtcar Sportsman North/East Series with a liquor and wine warehouse presenting the night of racing. The pits would be packed for the opening night of racing as there would be nearly 100 cars in the pits for the dour divisions on the night, Sportsman Modified, Novice Sportsman Modifieds, Renegades, and the 4 Cylinders. We would start the night with the opening ceremonies and honoring once again the 2021 season champions. When the racing got underway we would start with the Sportsman Modified there were six heats and the winners would be David Boisclair, Dave Rodgers, Shane Pecore, Jamy Begor, Zach Buff, and Andrew Buff. Then next up we would have the Renegades for their two heats with wins going to Shawn Duquette and Zack Daniels. Then the Novice Sportsman Modified would have their heat and the win would go to Dale Gonyo. Then the heat racing would end with the 4 cylinders having their two hears and the winners would be Nate and Bill Doner to end the heat racing the night. Although that would not be the end of qualifying as with the large amount of Sportsman Modified they would need three Last Chance Qualifiers to finish out the field for the A-Main and the winners would be Michael Wagner, and Richie Simmons, and Beau Reeves. With all the qualifying down it would be on to the main events of the evening and the first one up would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders with last year's champion Nate Smart starting on the pole he would hold upfront and get the first race win of the season but not without stiff competition from Greg Zindler and Nate Harden who would round out the top three. The next main event of the evening would be the showcase event as the Dirtcar Sportsman Modified North/East Series would take to the track for 40 laps with a packed 33 cars starting. After a few opening lap crashes the cars would be pulled to the pits and the rest of the evening would be postponed as they deemed the track unsafe as drivers were unable to see the car in front of them with the dust spray. The rest of the event including the Sportsman Modified race will be rescheduled to a later date. The Airborne Speedway will be back in action next weekend May 7th with the return of the 358 Modifieds. Gallery

Then we would have are only two last chance qualifiers on the night in the Sportsman Modified division and getting the wins would be Michael Fitzgerald and Tyler Corcoran. Then it would be back for its second year the Dash race this week in the Sportsman Modified class and getting the win is Pat Jones and the extra 200 dollars. Then all that would be left on the night would be the Mains and first up would be the Pro Stocks for 25 laps Rich Crane would start on the front row and slowly pull away from the field but there would be a late-race caution with 6 to go to bunch the field back up and have Chad Jeseo and Rob Yetman back in the hunt although it wouldn't be enough as Rich Crane would get the win. Next up on the schedule would be the 20 lap Limited Sportsman Modified and it would come down to the last lap and corner as Chris Jakubbiak would pass Gerald Leclair for the win. Then we would have the ground-pounding Modifieds and the early racing would see Michael Maresca and Anthony Peregeo battling at the front although a lapper would get in the way sending them both off. As the benefactor of that would be Jeremy Pitts and once he got the lead he would not give it up as he would secure his first career victory in the division. Then we would have the shower of 602 power as the Sportsman Modified would hit the track it would be slow getting going as there would be three cautions and we would have only one lap complete. Pat Jones would use his front row starting spot to avoid the wrecks and lead wire to wire for his second career victory. Although that wasn't to say there wasn't racing behind him as Andrew Buff would come up from 20th and get the 2nd place finish and Connor Cleveland would avoid an early crash to secure third. Then to finish off the heat races would be the Dirtcar Pro Stocks with two heats would be Ivan Joslin and Sid Harmer but the story of the heats would b be Tyler Coonradt spinning out and finishing deep in the field and hurting his starting position for the main. Then we would have the last chance qualifiers for the Super DIRTcar Series and Sportsman Modified but before they would go there the track would be down for some track prep as they did a great job and getting an outside grove to come in and make for some great races. As for the LCQ's first would be the Sportsman Modified with two races and wins going to Gavin Eisele and Robert Gage. Then it would be the Super Dirtcar Series for two last chance qualifiers and the wins would go to David Marcuccilli and the hometown boy Jordan McCreadie and that would end the qualifying races on the evening. There would be caution on lap 17 for a spin-out but then the big one would come out as Eric Rudolph running in the top 5 would have a flat on lap 71 and bring out the caution and the restart would come with 25 to go. The front row of the restart would be Tim Fuller and Stewart Fresien and Stewie would dive bomb turn 1 and take the lead from fuller until the caution came out on lap 78 for Max McLaughlin. Although Timmy Fuller would get one last restart to try and get Stewart Fresien as Rusty Smith would have an engine go south 15 to go. Although it would not matter as Stewart Fresien would hold on and get the opening win of the season over Tim Fuller and Larry Wight. The Super DIRTcar Series will be back in action in two weeks at the end of April as they take to the high banks at Bristol Motor Speedway for the first time ever. Then to finish off the night would be the DIRTcar Pro Stock for 20 laps. The local Sid Harmer Jr would sit on the pole and lead the first five laps through a couple of cautions. Although on the fifth lap Nick Stone would go around him for the lead. Then there would be another caution on lap 8 as the 33 of Pete Schroy would have to pull in. Then on the ensuing restart, Sid Harmer would take the lead back but it would be short live cause on the next lap Luke Horning would take the lead with 5 to go. Although it would not be easy to the end as Rob Yetman would be charging up and would try last-ditch slide job off of turn four on the final lap but there wasn't enough room and Luke Horning would wrap the bumper cover off and slide under and beat to him to the checkered for the win.
