Fourth Ward's Pat Shaugnessy (22) tags and moves over to throw onto first as Lyon Mountain's Scott Baker (15) tries to break it up. The Lyon Mountain Miners would meet the Fourth Ward Athletics in the deciding game three of the semi-finals today at Lefty Wilson Field in Plattsburgh. The Miners would rake control early and not look back as they would get one in the first. Then come back with three more in the second inning. With the quick 4-0 lead, they would cruise through the rest of the game for the easy 7-1 victory and advance to the championship next weekend. In the winning effort, Dave Waldron would go the distance giving up one run while striking out five. Gallery

Champlain Valley Baseball League Semi-Finals Meron's Expos @ Fourth Ward Cardinals July 28 2013

Meron's Cliff Connors (8) nabs the ball behind second base and fired to first for the out. The Fourth Ward Cardinals would host the Meron's Expos in the deciding game of the series for the right to go the finals. The game would start of close as the teams would trade runs in the first to have a 1-1 game. From there on out the Cardinals would pour it on as the Expos just seemed to have an off day. The Cardinals would break the game open in the second with six runs for the 7-1 lead and from there they would cruise to the 14-3 win. With the win, the Cardinals advance to the Championship where they will take on the defending champion Lyon Mountain Miners in the best of three series. Gallery

Adirondack Truck Tractor Pullers: Clinton County Fair Truck/Tractor Pull July 20 2013

Red Dog Too and Chris Bullriss skips the front wheels down the track as he takes out to 316 feet and comes home in 2nd place during the Super Farm class. The Adirondack Truck and Tractor Pullers would return for the annual pull at the Clinton County Fair in Plattsburgh. The pull would happen in front of a packed house and they would witness a great show. There would be just under 100 entries divided into 20 classes. There would be lots of runs throughout the night that would keep the crowd on the edge of there seats. The tour will move onto Highgate, Vermont in a couple of weeks at the Franklin County Field Days. Gallery

Adirondack Truck Tractor Pullers: Clinton County Fair Street Truck Pull July 19 2013

RJ Smith and his 2007 GMC Sierra are making a power pass during the 2.6 Cheater Truck class and goes past the 300-foot mark. It was that time of year again the Street Truck Pull at the Clinton County Fair brought to you by the Adirondack Truck & Tractor Pullers. There would be around 80 entries that would be divided into seven classes all the way from the stock truck to the mighty 2.6 Cheater Trucks. There would be many good runs throughout the night and very minimal damage. One of the exciting moments that happened had to be the hard rainstorm that came and dropped at least an inch of water in a matter of minutes. The pull would be halted for about an hour they would rip the track and back pulling we would go. Congratulations to all the different winners throughout the night and for a great show for everyone.. Empire Football League Week 2: Plattsburgh North Stars @ Vermont Ice Storm July 13 2013

Plattsburgh's Josh Nephew (32) lowers the head and breaks the tackle for the touchdown from the two-yard line. The Plattsburgh North Stars came into Burlington looking to get there Empire Football League of the right track against rival Vermont Ice Storm. The North Stars would stat of with a pick by Brandon St. John that he would take inside the 10 where the Stars would score and take a 6-0 lead. The North Stars would score twice more before the quarter ended to have a 20-0 lead including the long Brett Boyer touchdown. The Stars would score once in the second quarter to take a 27-0 lead at halftime. Then in the second half, the North Stars would finish the beating with three more scores to get the 49-0 victory. With the win, the North Stars go to 1-1 and 1-0 in the league. The North Stars start the home portion of there season next week against the Glens Falls Green Jackets in the Mayors Cup game. Gallery

Champlain Valley Baseball League Peabody Padres @ Lyon Mountain Miners July 7 2013

Peabody's Matt Hart (15) with the pick at third down the line and fires across to complete the out. he Peabody Padres would travel to Lyon Mountain and have a doubleheader with the Miners to finish off the regular season of the CVBL season. The first game would go the way of the Miners as they would get the 4-0 win. The runs would come in the first and fifth as they would get two runs in each inning. In the winning effort for the Miners, Dave Waldron would go the distance to get the shutout victory while giving up just four hits. In the second game, it would be called after the fourth inning with the score tied at zero. The game will not be resumed as it makes no difference in the standings. With the playoffs starting next week the Miners will get a first-round bye with the regular-season title. The Padres will take on the A's in the 4/5 game in Plattsburgh. Gallery

Champlain Valley Baseball League Peabody Padres Vs Meron Expos June 30 2013

Peabody's Chris Markwicka (7) drops to a knee on the grounder fields it and fires to first for the out. After three weeks off because of ran outs the Peabody Padres would get back in action against Meron Expos in doubleheader action in Saranac. The Expos would take the 1-0 lead right off in the first. The Padres would tie the game up in the third on an RBI single by Eric Bell. The Padres would take the lead in the fourth on Shane Perrotte's 2 RBI single to make it 3-1. The Padres would extend the lead to 4-1 on Kalob Drollette RBI base hit in the 5th inning. In the sixth, the Expos would erase the lead by getting three runs and tie the game at 4. Then the Expos would win it in the seventh with one run to get the 5-4 win. In the lose Matt Rivers would go the distance striking out six while giving up 8 hits. As the teams would return for game two the Expos would get one in first while the Padres would get two for the 2-1 lead. After that, it would be all Expos as they would score nine unanswered runs for the 11-2 victory giving the Expos the sweep on the day. With the sweep, the Expos go to 7-5 while the Padres fall to 5-8. Gallery

American Legion Baseball Malone Post 219 Vs Adams Glass June 13 2013

Malone's Adam Martin (3) slides in safe at third base as he advances on the passed ball. The Malone Post 219 host Adams Glass in non-league at the Airport Field. Adams would take the early 1-0 lead in the first on a passed ball. Adams would extend the lead to 2-0 on a base hit in the second. That is where the score would remain until the fourth when Malone would get a run to make it 2-1. Then in the fifth inning, the Malone would take the lead and pull ahead with a six-run inning thanks in part to a three-run homer by Alex Johnson to make it 7-2. Adam's would try and get back into in the sixth as they would cut the lead in half by getting two to make it 7-4. Malone would get one at the bottom of the inning to secure the 8-4 win. With the win, Malone Post 219 goes to 2-0 on the season. Gallery

Peabody's Matt Rivers (88) drops in the curveball for the strike as part of his shutout victory in game one. The Peabody Padres would host the Plattsburgh Cardinals in Saranac during week five the Champlain Valley Baseball League. The first game would be great pitchers duel at the Padres would get 1-0 win. The Padres would get a there lone run in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Zack Myers. In the winning effort, Matt Rivers would pitch the complete-game shutout giving up just five hits while striking out four. For the lack of runs in game one game, two would make up for it. The Padres would take the 1-0 lead in first on Mark Eggleston RBI double. The Cardinals would take the lead in the second with two runs to make it 2-1. The Cardinals would extend the lead to 4-1 in the fifth to runs. The Cardinals would at two more in the top of the 5th to make it 6-1 before the Padres would start to answer back with three runs on RBI singles from Andrew Petro and Matt Rivers to make it 6-4. Although the Cardinals would answer back in the seventh with four runs to make it 10-4. At the bottom of the inning, the Cardinals would do there best to get back in but fall short as Mark Eggleston would have an RBI double and Matt Hart RBI single to end the game at 10-6 Cardinals. So with the two teams splitting the doubleheader, the Padres go to 3-5 while the Cardinals go to 5-5. Gallery
