A sluggish first quarter wasn't enough to deter the Peru Indians, as they rode a solid running game to a second-half comeback, snapping their losing streak with a 21-11 win over Saranac. The Indians found themselves in a hole early, as Saranac's Connor Burns found Hunter Devins for a 73-yard touchdown pass. Two botched fourth-down snaps by Peru resulted in a pair of safeties, and the Chiefs led 11-0 after one quarter of play. That would be the end of the scoring for the visiting team, though, and Peru found its elusive running game on the back of Jack Hanson, who rattled off 181 rushing yards in the game. Twice in the second quarter, the Indians drove to within five yards, only to two turn the ball over each time. Momentum remained with Peru in the second half. An interception by Gavin Padron set the Indians up for a five-yard touchdown run by Hanson to cut the Chiefs' lead, and a 38-yard scoring run in the third quarter by Hanson gave the home side the lead.The Indians put the game away for good with a five-yard pass by Zach O'Connell to Austin Carpenter.The result leaves both teams with a record of 3-3 heading into the final week of the regular season. The Indians will host Saranac Lake at 7:30 p.m. Friday, while the Chiefs will host Plattsburgh High School Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Gallery

Saranac Lake/Lake Placid's Andres Stanton (1) with the glove save as part of a 16 save night. It would be opening night of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and the Saranac Chiefs would host the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers at Amer-can North. The opening goal of the game would come to the Chiefs Austin Carpenter at the 5:39 mark of the first period for the 1-0 lead. In the second part of the period, the Lakers would strike two goals from Rhett Darrah and Dustin Patterson for a 2-1 game at the end of the period. In the second period, the tables would flip and the Chiefs would score twice while the Lakers would get one. The goal scores would be Dylan Eagleson and Bailey Marsh for the Chiefs and Ben Munn for the Lakers and game would be tied at three headed to the third. In the third period, the Lakers offense would come alive and strike for four goals from Tyler Hinckley (twice), Hunter Walmont and Dylan Amell. While the Chiefs would get a lone goal from Austin Carpenter as the Lakers would get the 7-4 victory. In the winning effort, Tyler Hinchley would score twice and Dylan Amell would have 5 points on the night for the Lakers, while Erick Frechette would have 51 saves on the night. Ausable Valley Patriots @ Saranac Chiefs - Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football - September 28th 2019

Saranac's Hunter Devins (21) through the gap and takes it in for the score. It would be week four of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and are saturday tilt would feature the Ausable Valley Patriots @ the Saranac Chiefs. The game would start off with a bang as Eli Douglas would run back the opening kickoff 92 yards and give the Patriots the 6-0 lead. The Chiefs would come right back and score four minutes later on a 2 yard run by Hunter Devins and would convert on the two point conversion and take the 8-6 lead and that would end the scoring in the first half. The Patriots would regain the lead at 13-8 on the 14 yard pass to Eli Douglas. Then just two and half minutes later the Patriots would extend there lead to as Eli Douglas would strike again this time for 73 yards and make it a 19-8 game. Then with four minutes left in the game the Patriots would put the icing on the cake with Nate Doner's 15 yard run for the 25-8 lead and hold on for the victory. In the winning effort the Patriots go to 2-2 on the season while the Chiefs fall to 2-2 on the season. Gallery

Moriah Vikings Vs Saranac Chiefs - Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football - September 7th 2019

Saranac's Hunter Devins (23) breaking through the tackles for the extra yards. The Saranac Chiefs would host the Moriah Vikings in the opening saturday of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season. The Vioings would get 6-0 lead on Maddox Blaise 3 yard run in the first quarter. Although the Chiefs would answer right back with a 34 yard touchsown pass to Bryce Snith. The Vikings would regain the lead on the Deihl touchdown pass at 12-6 and take lead into the half. In the second half the rain would be coming doing at a good clup making it diffcult for both teams. The Chiefs would tie the game up midway through the third quarter with a pass to Connor Recore. In the fourth quarter Bryce Smith would get an interception and return it for a touchdown for the 20-12 lead and win. In the winning effort the Saranac Chiefs start the season at 1-0 while Moriah Vikings start at 0-1. Next week it will be the battle Saranac's with the Chiefs and Red Storm while Vikings get the Indians. Gallery

The Saranac Chiefs celebrate as they win in overtime with the come from behind victory. The Saranac Chiefs would host the St. Lawerence Larries in nonconference action at the Ameri-can north arena. The Larries would get the scoring starting with a goal from Noah Adams at the 4:02 mark of the first period. About three minutes later the Larries would double there lead at 2-0 on a score from another Adams this time Ashton. The Chiefs would fight and get on the board at the 6:05 mark on Austin Carpenters' goal to make it 2-1. The Chiefs would tie the game at 2 in the final three minutes of the period on the Nolan Knight goal. When the team's comeback for the second period the Larries would take control again and get goals from Brendan Phippen and Mason Frary to make it 4-2. Although the Chiefs would keep fighting and tie the game back up in the final two minutes of the period with two quick ones from Hunter Provost and Hayden Buckley. In the third period, the Larries would once again take the lead this time on Ashton Adams's second goal of the game at the 2:29 mark. Although the Chiefs would battle back and fight to tie the game at five on Hayden Buckley's second of the game with three minutes left in regulation. In the overtime, the Larries appread to have the game-winner but was called off as the net was off. The Chiefs would take advantage of it and get the game-winner on a shorthand by Austin Carpenter in the final seconds for the 6-5 win. In the winning effort, the Chiefs go to 5-0 while the Larries go to 1-1 on the season. Gallery.

It would be the start of the season for both the Saranac Chiefs as they would host the Malone Huskies. The game would start off good for the Chiefs as Nolan Knight would get the first goal two minutes into the game. The game would stay there till the 12-minute mark of the period when Chiefs Austin Carpenter would strike to make it a 2-0 game. Although Carpenter wouldn't stop there as he would strike again in the final minute of the period to make it 3-0. The game would stay there through the second period as there was no scoring. As the third period would start the Chiefs would add another one 31 seconds on the Zack O'Connell goal for the 4-0 lead. From there the Chiefs would shut the Huskies down and secure the 4-0 victory. In the winning effort, the Chiefs start the season at 1-0 while the Huskies fall to 0-1. Gallery.

Plattsburgh Hornets @ Saranac Chiefs - Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football - October 19th 2019

It wouldn't just be the last week of Champlain Valley Athletic Conference regular season but the last game and it would feature the Plattsburgh Hornets and Saranac Chiefs. Defense would be the name of the game in the first half as neither team would be able to get the ball in endzone. The Hornets would eventual get on the board and take the 7-0 lead on the Javon Carpenter 30 yard pass 3:30 into the third quarter. The Hornets would extent there lead to 14-0 on the Dylan Garranrt 54 yard pass one minute into the fourth quarter. The Chiefs would cut the lead in half with just under five minutes left in the fourth on the seven yard pass to Justin Bedard to make 14-6. That would be all the scoring as the Hornets would hold onto the win and go to 3-4 on the season while the Chiefs fall to 3-4. The playoffs start next week and the Plattsburgh Hornets will travel to Peru for the Indians in the Class B Semifinals while the Chiefs will travel to Saranac Lake and play Red Storm. Gallery

Saranac Lake's Logan Brown (13) with the finger tip catch as Saranac's Bryce Smith (7) goes low for the tackle. It would be the Saranac Chiefs traveling to Saranac Lake and taking on the Red Storm in the New York State Class C Semi-finals. The Red Storms would get the first score of the game on a 78 yard pass to Sam Donaldson at the 7:05 mark of the first quarter for the 7-0 lead. The game would stay there for the rest of the first half as it would be marred by turnovers. The Red Storm would extent the lead to 14-0 on the 1 yard run by Logan Brown at the 6:15 mark of the third quarter. Then just 50 seconds into the fourth quarter the Red Storm would make it 21-0 on a 15 yard run by Rhett Darrah. The Chiefs would get on the board in the final two minutes on a 13 yard quarterback keeper by Garett Adolfo to make it 21-7. Although with the win by the Saranac Lake Red Storm they go to 5-3 and advance to the New York State Section VII Class C Championship and play the Ausable Valley Patriots as the season comes to end for the Saranac Chiefs at 3-5.
