Plattsburgh's Amanda Vaughn (23) from the seat of her pants helps the puck across the line for the game-tying goal. It would be a matchup in the Upstate New York Hockey League as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Malone Huskies. It would be an evenly matched game throughout. The Huskies would light the lamp early in the first period at the 3:51 mark from Oliva Cook but it would be the only goal of the period as the Huskies held a 1-0 after the first. In the second period, the Huskies would waste little time stretching the lead to 2-0 just 45 seconds in. Although the Hornets would answer back quickly at the 2:29 mark of the period from Ava Perry to make it 2-1 game. Although just thirty seconds later the Huskies would regain their two-goal lead at 3-1. Then at the 8:15 mark of the second period, the Hornets would answer back this time from Amanda Vaughn and make it a 3-2 game as they headed to the third period. In that third period the Hornets would tie the game up at three with under minutes left on Amanda Vaughns's second goal of the game and that is where the game would finish after five-minute over time we have a 3-3 tie game. Plattsburgh's Ty Conklin (31) makes the save on the breakaway to keep the Hornets in the game. It would be a nonconference affair as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Malone Huskies at the Ameri-can North Sports Complex. The game would not start well for the home hornets as the Huskies would get the lone goal of the first period. Although in the second period the offenses for both teams would come alive as they would combine for fives goals in the period and be tied at three at the end scoring for the Hornets would be Drew Knowles, Jackson Kain, and Jace Lacey. Then in the third period, they would combine four more goals and stay tied at 5 with goals from Hayden Colburn and Bostyn Duquette sending the teams to overtime. In the overtime there would be no answer from anyone and the game would end in a five-all tie. Gallery

Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers @ Plattsburgh Hornets Upstate New York Girls Hockey League March 24th 2021

Saranac Lake/Lake Placid's (7) with the deke on the Hornets defender and breaks to the net. For the second time in three days, the Plattsburgh Hornets would the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers in Girl's Hockey action. The game would look like it was going to start the same as the last meeting as the Hornets would take the 1-0 lead at the 4:30 mark of the first period on the Giroux goal. Although this time the Lakers would have an answer to the Hornets defense and get the tying goal with 90 seconds left in the opening period. In the second period, the Hornets would answer back quick to regain the one-goal lead at 2-1 on the Johnston goal. Then just over three minutes later the Hornets would strike again and get the two-goal lead on the Amanda Vaughn goal at 3-1. The Lakers would still have fought in them and cut the lead in half at 3-2 at the 6:52 mark of the second period. The Lakers would keep up their attack and would eventually get that game-tying goal at 3-3 with just over nine minutes to go in the game. Although the tie would be short-lived as the Hornets would take the lead back at 4-3 just ten seconds later. It was starting to look like the Hornets were going to get the win but with 33 seconds left in the game, the Lakers would get the tying goal with the extra attacker on the ice. The teams would head to overtime but the extra would be of no help on this night as the game would end in a 4-4 tie.Gallery

In the second period, the Lakers would play their hearts out and keep the Hornets off the board but the Lakers would have no answer and the game would stay 3-0 after the second period. Then about halfway through the third period, the Hornets would strike again this time from Giroux for the 4-0 lead. Then with just over five minutes left in the game, the Hornets would add one more for good measure and complete the 5-0 shutout victory on the Emily Vaughan goal. The Hornets would get the opening goal of the game at just over a minute into the game from Madore to make it 1-0. Although the Huskies would shake off the rust and get back in the game and tie it up at 1-1 on the St. Mary goal. Then just over two minutes later the Hornets would regain the one-goal lead on the Boule goal and hold the lead to the end of the period. Then halfway through the second period, the Hornets would extend their lead to two goals at 3-1 on the Giroux goal. Then just 16 seconds later the Hornets would extend it to 4-1 on Boule's second goal of the night. Malone's Morgan Fountain (3) stop the drive to the hoop and pulls up for the short jumper over the Potsdam defender.The Malone Huskies would host the Potsdam Sandstoners in Section X Central Division action. The game would be tight through the first quarter before the Huskies would cruise to a 63-35 win. The Huskies would have the slim 12-9 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Huskies would out score them 11-7 and take the 23-16 lead at the break. Then in the third quarter the Huskies would start to pull away as they would win the quarter 16-11 to take the 39-27 lead into the fourth. Then in the fourth the Huskies would step up the tempo and win the quarter 24-8 and get the 63-35. In the winning effort Malone's Rachael Lamica would lead all scores with 19 points as the Huskies go to 7-3 on the season. Gallery

Saranac's Jeremy Barber (19) with the hard hit into the broads on Malone's Jacob Henning (10) going after the loose puck. The Malone Huskies would host the Saranac Chiefs in non-league action. Saranac would open up the scoring in first on Matt Macasland's goal assist to Kyle Erickson. The Huskies would tie it up on Kyle Head's goal 1-1. Saranac's Matt Macsland would give the Chiefs back the lead at 2-1 at the eight minute mark on his second of the night assist going to Kyle Erickson. The Chiefs would go up by 2 with 3 minutes left in the first on Nick Uilva's goal assist to Alex Sarazen. The Huskies would get it back within one in the last minute of the first on Tanner Studlacks goal assist to Cameron Daniels to make it 3-2 after the first. Then just three minutes into the second Studlack and Daniels would connext again to make it 3-3. Then in the ninth minute of the second period Chiefs would regain the lead on Jacob Lillehadel's goal with assist going to Kyle Erickson and Tristin Archambault. The Huskies would tie it up two minutes later on the Bailey Conklin goal with assist going to Kelsey Head and Tanner Studlack. to make it 4-4. Then with two minutes left in the 2nd period the Huskies would score two goals in 58 seconds by Kyler Head and Cameron Daniels to make it 6-4. Then with three minutes left in the third the Chiefs made the end interesting on Matt Macsaland third goal of the night to finish off the hat trick with assist going to Kyle Erickson and Jacob Lillehadl as the Huskies get the 6-5 win. Both goalies would still stop plenty of shots as Malone's Joey Brown stop 34 while Saranac's Zach LaReau stops 31. With the win the Malone Huskies go to 5-1-1 on the season and the Saranac Chiefs fall to 2-5-1. Gallery
