The game would be tight from the start as the Golden Knights would have the 19-16 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Cardinals would fight back and win the quarter 16-12 and have the 32-31 lead at intermission. When the teams came back for the second half the Golden Knights would regain the lead by winning the quarter 15-13 and have the 46-45 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Golden Knights would be too much for the Cardinals as they won the quarter 18-14 as the Cardinals fall 64-59. It would be opening night for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals Women's basketball team as they host the Plymouth State Panthers in the first round of the Cardinal Classic. It would be a very even game throughout the first quarter as the Cardinals would have the slimmest of leads at 12-11 at the end of the first. The Panthers would come back and inch ahead as they would win the quarter 19-13 and have a 30-25 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Panthers would inch further ahead as they win the quarter 12-11 and have a 42-36 lead as they head into the fourth. In the fourth quarter the Cardinals would do the best to make up the difference but it wouldn't be enough as they would tie the quarter at 17 and fall in the game 59-53.
