For the championship of the Cardinal Classic, it was a battle of the top 5 schools as The Plattsburgh State Cardinals took on the Castleton State Spartans. Then with 3 minutes remaining in the period, the Cardinal tied the game up on Kyle Taylor's goal. The game would stay tied until Jake Mooney scores the game-winner with 4 minutes left in the game to give the Cardinals the Cardinal Classic title.
