It would be an America East matchup in front of a sold-out crowd at the Patrick Gym as the host Vermont Catamounts would take on the Hartford Hawks as they look to avenge last year's home loss that ended there home winning streak. In the first half, it would go back and forth for a while and then the Catamounts would steadily pull away as they would have a 37-27 lead at the break. When the teams would return for the second half the home Catamounts would leave little to be settled as they would win the half as they win the half 37-30 and secure the 74-57 victory. In the winning effort, Robin Duncan would lead the balanced attack with 11 points as the Catamount goes to 13-6 on the season. Next up for the Catamounts will be a trip to Maine to face the Black Bears on the 22nd. Gallery.

Vermont's Matt Alvaro (25) with the crunching hit on the endboards of UMass's defender to break up the play. It would be a Hockey East matchup at the Gutterson Fieldhouse as the Vermont Catamounts would host the #10 UMass Minutemen. The game would not start off good for the home Catamounts as the Minutemen would score at the 1:37 mark of the first period on the John Leonard goal. The Minutemen would double up there lead at the 12:54 mark of the period on the Jake McLaughlin goal. The game would stay there through the second period as there was no scoring. In the third period, the Catamounts would score on Matt Alvaro's goal to cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 9:17 mark of the third period. The Minutemen would regain the 2 goal lead at 3-1 on the Matthew Kessel goal at the 17:22 mark of the third period. In the losing effort, Stefanos Lekkas would make 36 saves as the Catamount fall to 3-15-1 on the season. Gallery.

The Beekmantown Eagles celebrate as they defeat the Plattsburgh Hornets with an overtime thriller. The Beekmantown Eagles and Plattsburgh Hornets would meet for the first of two meetings this season in the crosstown rivalry featured in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference. It would be a game that would live up to the rivalry as the two teams would duke it out throughout body blow after body blow neither of them giving an inch. The Eagles would strike first with the opening goal from Dalton Kane on the powerplay at the 8:45 mark of the first period. The game would remain there through the rest of the period and even though the whole second period as there would be no scoring. Just when you were starting to think that this might be the lone goal of the game the Hornets would answer and tie the game at 1 at the 10:44 mark of the third on the Tyler Ried powerplay goal. The game would stay there for the rest of the period and the teams would head to overtime tied at one. In the overtime frame, the Eagles would send there fans home happy as Dalton Kane would strike again with his second goal of the game and give them the 2-1 victory. In the winning effort, Riley Hansen would make 20 saves as the Eagles go to 3-3-1 on the season while the Hornets John Dublanyk would make 21 saves as they fall to 4-4-1 on the season. Next up for the Eagles will be the Northeastern Clinton Cougars on a quick turn around Monday, January 20th while the Hornets while getting the Saranac Chiefs January 21st. Gallery.

Plattsburgh State's Nicole Unsworth (20) battles for the loose puck in front of the net on the scramble play. It would be a rare Friday afternoon matchup as the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Canton Kangaroos in NEWHL action at the Ronald B Stafford Arena in front of 300 fans. The upstart Kangaroos would show that they came to play as they would get the opening goal of the game at 2:57 of the first period from Breanna Bedborough. Although the Cardinals turn around and come back on fire as they would get four goals to end out the period from Erin McArdle, Sara Krauseneck (twice) and Hanna Rose for the 4-1 lead. In the second period, the Cardinals would keep their foot on the accelerator as they would get four more goals from Sarah Wolfe, Abby Brush (twice), and Sara Krauseneck would get her hat trick goal for a 8-1 Cardinals lead. In the third period, the Cardinals would lighten up as they would have just a lone goal from Holly Schmelzer to secure the 9-1 victory. In the winning effort, Chloe Beaubien would make 16 saves as the Cardinals go to 16-1 on the season. Plattsburgh's Natatalie Kay (4) with the poke check on Beekmantown's Leah Columombe (15) to break up the play. The Beekmantown Lady Eagles ice hockey team earned a 3-1 win at Chazy’s Scotts’ Rink Friday against the Lady Hornets of Plattsburgh High School. Beekmantown scored once in each period and outshot the visitors 36-27 on the night. A back-and-forth first period ended 1-0 in favor of the home team after Hailey Letoruneau hit the top corner with a slap shot from the left point after a pass from Celine Juneau. Playing with the lead, the Eagles applied offensive pressure for much of the second period and doubled their lead midway through the frame as Makenna Bell capitalized on a rebound off a Leah Coulombe shot to jam the puck between the post and the left pad of goaltender Ava Julian. The third period saw the Plattsburgh offense start to click, but it was Beekmantown who scored again, as Brooke Ruest’s feed from behind the goal line set up Bailey Carter for the tap-in goal. The Hornets pulled one back with a Gillian Boule goal midway through the period, but that would be the end of scoring for the game. Julian made 33 saves in net for the Hornets, which Beekmantown’s Brianne Knight stopped 26 en route to the win. Gallery.

It would be Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. The Cougars would get the opening goal of the game at the 10:29 mark of the first period on the goal by Zachary Miller goal to make it 1-0. The game would stay there till the 9:21 mark of the second period when the Cougars would strike again this time on the shorthand by Ryan Johnston to make it 2-0 Cougars. That is where the game would stay till the closing minute of the game when the Cougars would add an empty netter from Reid LaValley for the 3-0 victory. In the winning effort, Ethan Garrand would make 21 saves for the shutout victory as the Cougars go to 4-5 while the Hornets John Dublanyk would make 31 saves as they fall to 4-6-1 on the season. Plattsburgh State's Liam Lawson (39) with the game-winning goal on a rebound in front of the net with under a minute left in the game. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals with fellow Cardinal Wesleyan in nonconference action at the Ronald B Safford Ice Arena. The Cardinals get the quick 1-0 lead as they would score just 1:16 into the game on the Brendan Young. Wesleyan would get the equalizer in the final three minutes of the period on the Danny Sorabella goal. Wesleyan wouldn't waste time as they would take the 2-1 just 2:30 into the second period on the Colin Cobb. Then at the 15:24 mark of the second period, Plattsburgh State would tie the game up at 2 on the powerplay goal by Christian Defielecie. That is where the game would remain until the last 45 seconds when Liam Lawson would get the game-winner on a rebound in front of the net. Jimmy Poreda would make 23 saves as the Cardinals send there record to 5-8-1 on the season. Gallery.

Zack Garner and Wild Side with a beautiful save as he came off the tabletop and got all messed up he drives into and brings it back from the brink of destruction. It would be the third show and Round 3 from the Times Union Center in Albany, NY as part of the Arena Championship Series on Monster Jam tour. There would be a total of eight trucks in attendance with Just Getter Done 2 driven by Brandon Tulachka, Wild Side with Zach Garner, Raminator with Mark Hakk, Ramunation with Kurt Kraemer, Dragon and Darren Mingeus, Monster Mutt Damalation and Kailyn Mingeus, Scooby-Doo and Linsdey Read, and Grave Digger with Randy Brown. First event up would be Chicago style racing and the dust would settle it would come down to Brandon Tuchaka and Just Getter Done 2 and Wild Side with Zach Garner with the win going to the Wild side for his first-ever racing win. Next up would be the 2 Wheel Skills Contest and the win goes to Grave Digger with the impressive moonwalk. After the intermission, they would bring out the Freestyle Motocross for a brief show and back to Monster Trucks with the Donuts contest. In the said Donut contest the Scooby-Doo and Linsdey Read would get the win and sweep the donut contest on the weekend. Then to finish off the event it would be the ever-popular freestyle and with the last run on the show uses every bit of the floor and ever move at it Grave Digger would get the win and the overall event win. Plattsburgh's McKenzie Brown (6) goes full out with the stick to breakup the brweakway attempt by the Lakers. The Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Skaneateles Lakers in Upstate New York Girl's Hockey League action. Throughout the first period the teams would go back and forth with neither gaining an advantage and there would be no scoring. When the teams comeback for the second it would be more of the same as it startered the Lakers would take the lead at the 4:59 mark on the Emily Evans goal to make it 1-0. Then just over four minutes later the Lakers would strike again and double there lead at 2-0 on the Grace Kush. That was starting to look like where the game was going to end but the Hornets would have other thoughts on that as Amanda Vaughn would score with 90 seconds left to make it 2-1. After that goal was scored the Hornets would put on the late push but it wouldn't be enough and the Lakers would get 2-1 win. In the losing effort the Hornets fall to 9-7 on the season. Gallery.

Brockport State Golden Eagles @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals - Janaury 11th 2020

Plattsburgh State's Thersea Quinn (12) with the tight defense on the Brockport State ball handler as part of the full court defense. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Brockport State Golden Eagles in SUNYAC Women's Basketball action. The game would not start off that great for the home Cardinals as they would trail the Golden Eagles 16-9 after the first quarter. When the teams came back from the time out for the second quarter it would be more of the same as the Golden Eagles would win the half 16-8 and the Cardinals would trail 32-17 at the half. When the teams return for the second half the Cardinals would some adjustments in the locker room and would win the quarter 27-18 although they would still trail 50-44. The rush by the Cardinals would not be enough though as the Golden Eagles would win the last quarter 16-7. With that being the said the Cardinals would fail 66-51. In losing Theresea Quinn would lead the way with 17 points as the Cardinals fall to 4-7 on the season. Gallery.
