It would be week #3 of the New York State Football season and we would see an out-of-section game as the Ausable Valley Patriots would travel to Massena and take on the Red Raiders as they were looking for their first win of the season as the Red Raiders look to stay perfect on the year. The game would start off well for the Red Raiders as they would get the opening score of the game with 3:30 left in the first quarter on a 20-yard touchdown pass to Dominic Murtaugh and take the 8-0 laead. The game would stay there till halfway through the 2nd quarter when the Raiders would strike again on a 40-yard pass to Garrett Weir and extend the lead to 16-0. Then just two minutes later the Red Raiders would start to take control of the game and a 29-yard run score by Carter King making the game 22-0 Raiders. The Raiders would finish off the scoring in the first half on Dominic Murtagh's second score of the game this time from 38 yards to make it 30-0 at the half. When the teams would return for the second half it would look like more of the same as the Red Raiders scored 2:32 into the half on a Carter King goal-line score to make it 36-0. However, the Patriots would have an answer this time as Dylan Bombard would get the Patriots on the board with an 18-yard run with just under five minutes left in the third quarter at 36-7. The Patriots would keep up the scoring as they would get another one 5:38 into the fourth quarter on a 5-yard run by John Fletcher making it a 36-14 game. However, the Red Raiders would put any hopes of a comeback away when Donovan Turner scored on a 42-yard run with five minutes left in the game to make it 43-14. Although the Patriots would keep up the fight and Ian Bombard would score on the goal line with 3:30 left in the game to make it a 43-21 game. That would be where the game would end as the Massena Red Raiders get the win 43-21 and go to 3-0 on the season as they head into the game next week against Malone Huskies. As for the Ausable Valley Patriots will look to get that first win of the season next week as they host the Saranac Lake Red Storm. Gallery

#9 Peru Nighthawks Vs Ravena Indians November 19th 2022

The Ravena Indians are crowned the 2022 Northern Regional champions with a 35-19 win over the Peru Nighthawks. There would be a spot in the final four on the line today at the Ausable Valley Central School as the #9 Peru Nighthawks would take on the #11 Ravena Indians in the Northern Regional finals of the NYSPHSAA Class B Tournament. The Indians would get the first score of the game at the 9:29 mark of the first quarter on a 56 yard strike to Dominik Paljusak and take a 6-0 lead. The game would stay there til the 2:38 mark of the second quarter when the Indians would score again on a 4 yard run by Aidan Locher and take the 14-0 lead. With about a 1:30 left in the half the Indians would start to pull away in the game as Dominik Paljusak would get his second touchdown of the game and make it a 20-0 lead. Although with 30 seconds left in the half the Nighthawks would get on the board to breakup the rush by the Indians on a 22 yard hook and ladder play and make it 20-7 game at the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the defenses would stand tall in the third quarter. The next score would come at the 3:29 mark of the fourth quarter on a 18 yard run by Aidan Locher and take a 28-7 lead. The Nighthawks would have another halfway through the quarter on a 1 yard run by Jack Hanson and make it a 28-13 game. Ravena would answer back with three minutes left in the game on a score by Frankie Broadhurst from 35 yards out and take a 35-13 lead. Although the Nighthawks answer right back with 2:42 left on Jack Hanson's run for a 35-19 game. From there the Indians defense would hold on for the victory. In the winning effort the Ravena season will contuine next week as they will travel to middletown for the final four and will take on the undefeated Pleasantville and the Nighthawks season comes to end at 10-1 Gallery

It would be the #7 Peru Nighthawks taking on the Massena Red Raiders in the North Country Super Bowl with the winner get #14 Rivenia on November 19th at Beekmantown High School. The game would start off good for the Nighthawks as they would score just three minutes into the game on a 33 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 6-0 lead. The Nighthawks would double there lead to 13-0 halfway through the quarter on a 28 yard pass to Riley Hebert . Then with two minutes left in the quarter the Nighthawks would strike again with a 25 yard pass to Keith Parent and take the 20-0 lead. There would be just one score in the second quarter as Jack Hanson would strike again for his second score on the day this time from nine yards out to take the 27-0 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Nighthawks office would stay hot. As they would a 25 yard feild goal to expand there lead to 30-0. Then in the closing minute of the quarter Zach O'Connell would hit Rocky Hebert for a 25 yard score and take the 37-0 lead. Then just four minutes into the fourth quarter the Nighthawks offense stays hot on a 13 yard pass to Keith Parent for his second score of the day and a 44-0 lead. Then with just about five minutes left in the game the Red Raiders would breakup the shutout with a big run play by Deshawn Walton and make it a 44-6. On the insuing defensive stand the Red Raiders would get a safety to make it 44-9 game. Then in the final couple minutes of the game the Red Raiders would get another running touchdown this time from Clifford Gay and make it a 44-16 and that is where the game would end. With the win the Nighthawks advance to the regional finals next weekend against Rivena and keep there undefeated season intact at 10-0 while the Massena Red Raiders season comes to a close at 5-5. Northern Adirondack Conference Boy's Basketball Malone Huskies Vs Massena Red Raiders February 5 2013

Malone's Harvey Smith (4) takes flight and lays the ball of the window for the lay up basket for two of his thirteen points on the night. The Malone Huskies would host the Massena Red Raiders in basketball action as part of the Section X Central Division action. The game would be very physical with many fouls called through out the games as both teams were looking for the edge. The Huskies would lead by a slim 20-19 after the first quarter. In the second quarter it would be more of the same as the Red Raiders would win the quarter 19-17 and take a 38-37 lead at the break. The third quarter would be were the Huskies would run away with the games as there defense would really step up as the Huskies win the third 19-5 and take a 56-43 lead after the third. The Red Raiders were unable to much of a run in the 4th as the Huskies would get the 75-61 victory. In the winning effort Jon Dubleavey would lead the with 15 points as the Huskies go to 16-1 on the season.Gallery

The game would remain scoreless until the third inning when the Huskies would erupt with six runs. The game would remain there until the 5th when the Huskies would get five more and make it 11-0. Then in the sixth, the Huskies would finish off the game with four more to get the 15-0 victory in six. Leading the way for the Huskies offensively was Morgan Fountain who went 2-3 with 2 RBI's On the mound Abby McCauley would get the complete game shutout victory while striking out eight. With the win, the Huskies go to 6-0 on the season. Gallery

Massena Red Raiders @ Beekmantown Eagles - Upstate New York Girls Hockey League - December 13th 2019

Beekmantown's Brianne Knight (1) with the pad save as part of a 40 save night. The Beekmantown girls' hockey team earned a home victory Friday with a 4-3 victory over Massena at the Scotts' Memorial Rink in Chazy. In a back-and-forth game that saw the teams combine for 84 shots on goal and 12 penalties, the Eagles never trailed. While the Red Raiders controlled much of the five-on-five play in the first period, penalties allowed Beekmantown to get their share of offensive pressure. Massena killed off an early five-on-three opportunity for the Eagles but surrendered a powerplay goal later in the period as Celine Juneau found Bailey Carter at the back door for the only goal of the period. Two minutes into the second period, Carter got her second tally of the night after skating in to support Leah Coulombe's drive to the net. Hannah Chilton pulled the Red Raiders back within a goal midway into the frame as the Eagles failed to clear the zone after blocking a shot in the high slot. Chilton's goal started a brief flurry of goals, as Beekmantown's Amanda Cayea tallied 40 seconds later to again pull ahead by two goals. A minute after that, Massena's Meg Wilmshurst brought the puck into the zone and put directed a shot low to the blocker side on Beekmantown's goaltender Brianne Knight. Knight tried to kick it wide while still retreating to her goal line, but could not push it far enough to keep the Red Raiders from once again pulling within a goal. The Eagles found themselves briefly facing a five-on-three penalty kill later in the second period, but key saves by Knight kept Massena from equalizing. Carter completed her hat trick midway through the final period before Brooke Terry again brought the Red Raiders within one. Carter took a penalty later in the period, but the Beekmantown penalty kill kept Massena pinned in their own zone for the duration, and the Eagles held on for the 4-3 win. Knight made 40 saves in net for Beekmantown, while Massena's Mackenzie Garrow stopped 37 shots. Gallery

Plattsburgh Hornets Vs Massena Red Raiders - Section X - April 1st 2019

Plattsburgh's (11) fights through the check as he turns for goal. In there first ever game as a member of Section X the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Massena Red Raiders. It would be a very low scoring game. The Red Raiders would strike in the second quarter with 2 goals and take the 2-0 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the second half there would be no change as the Red Raiders would get one more to take the 3-0 lead in the fourth. In the fourth quarter the Red Raiders qould get another and take a 4-0 lead. Then in the final couple minutes of the game it would happen the Hornets would get there first goal as a section x member from Ethan Vaughan to make it a 4-1 goal. Although the Hornets would as they would add one more with 17 seconds left in the game from Corbyn Birch. Although it would not be enough as the Plattsburgh Hornets would fall 4-2 and start there season at 0-1. Although there will be little rest for the Hornets as they are right back it tomorrow with a game against the Milton (VT) Yellow Jackets. Gallery

Massena Red Raiders @ Plattsburgh Hornets - Upstate New York Girls Hockey League - December 14th 2019

Plattsburgh's Avery Holland (5) with the goal she slides by the post on the rebound. It would be an Upstate New York Girls Hockey League game between the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Massena Red Raiders. The game would start off good for the visiting Red Raiders as they would get the opening goal from Megs Wilmshurst 46 seconds into the game. Although the Hornets would keep the fight up and tie the game at 1 on Ada Johnson's goal at the 6:17 mark of the first period. The game would stay there til the 5:53 mark of the second period when the Red Raiders would regain the lead on the Hannah Chilton goal. Although it would be short-lived as the Hornets would tie it up at 2 90 seconds later on the Avery Holland goal. Although once again the Red Raiders would get the lead back on a goal at the 6:29 mark of the third period to make it 3-2. Once again the Hornets would tie the game up at three with 90 seconds left in regulation on the Gillan Boule goal to force. In the overtime, it would come quick as Massena Red Raiders Hannah Chilton lights the lamp 31 seconds in for the 4-3 victory. In the losing effort, the Plattsburgh Hornets fall to 6-2 on the season.
