Northeastern Clinton's Stephen Garrow (34) goes up and under the Plattsburgh defender and lays it off the window. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in a rematch of last year's Section VII Class B championship. The game would start off well for the home Hornets as they would come rolling out of the gates and have a 17-9 lead after the opening quarter of the game. In the second quarter, the Hornets would stay hot and were able to extend their lead with a 20-13 quarter to give the Hornets the 37-22 lead at the break. When the teams would return for the second half the Cougars would regroup and find their shot and make it a two-point game at the end of the third quarter at 43-41 Hornets. For the first half of the fourth quarter, the teams would go back and forth, and the game with stay within a couple of points. Then with a little under five minutes left in the game there would a scramble for the ball under the basket and the Cougars would get called for a technical foul from there the game would fall apart for the Cougars and the Hornets would pull away with an eleven point win at 66-55. In the winning effort, the Hornets would go to 6-11 on the season while the Cougars will fall to 11-7 as both teams start looking at the playoff stretch. Gallery

It would be the start of Champlain Valley Athletic Conference play as the Saranac Chiefs would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in a rematch of last year's semifinal game that saw the Cougars win in overtime. The game would start off well for the Chiefs as they would score just 1:44 into the match on the Landon Duprey to make it a 1-0 game. However, the lead would be short-lived as the Cougars would tie the game at one at the three-minute mark of the match from Owen Ebersol. That is where the game would stay till the 1:24 mark of the second period and in total, the Cougars would score three times in the first 5:20 of the period from Peyton Palmer, and two from Winnie Simpson for the 4-1. However, the Chiefs would go on a streak of their own scoring 4 goals in the tens and retaking the lead at 5-4 on goals from Nolan Miner (twice), Zach O'Connell, and Evan Patrie. Then during the third period, the Cougars would keep on fighting and get the equalizer at the 11:27 mark from Eddie Bullriss and from there the game would go to overtime. In that overtime period, Zach O'Connell would get the game-winner at 1:55 on the breakaway goal for the second of the night. Dominic Falvo with the goal off the penalty kick for his third of the night and retake the Nighthawks lead. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference game between the visiting Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the home Peru Nighthawks from the Apple Bowl. The Nighthawks would take the early 2-0 lead on the Cougars in the first 12 minutes on two goals from Dominic Falvo. The Cougars would cut the lead in half on the the Wells goal and make it 2-1 in the 13th minute. In the early stages of the second half on a goal by Simpson the Cougars would tie the game at two. The Nighthawks would regain the lead on Dominic Falvo's third goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 58th minute. The Nighthawks would be able to regain there two goal lead at 4-2 on a goal from Seanan Edwards in the 61st minute.Then just in the next minute the Cougars would make it a one goal game again down the stretch from Brown. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference game between the visiting Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the home Peru Nighthawks from the Apple Bowl. The Plattsburgh Hornets would be the away team as they play at home against the Northeastern Clinton Cougars a the Cougars' field was not ready to be played on. The game would start off good for the Hornets as they would get two runs in the first inning for the 2-0 lead and that's, where the game would stay until the bottom of the third when the Cougars would answer with two of their, own and tie the game at 2. Although it would not be tied for very long as the Hornets would answer back in the fourth inning with three runs and retake the lead at 5-2. Then in the fifth, the Hornets would get two more as they would extend the lead to 7-2. In the bottom of the fifth, the Cougars would get a single run to make it a 7-3 game, and then at the bottom of the sixth, the Cougars would add another three runs and make it a 7-6 game as they went to the seventh. In the seventh inning, the Hornets would the game away as they would add three runs and get the 10-6 win. Gallery

The game would start off good for the home Hornets as they would get two runs thanks to Duquette and Trombley. Then in the second inning, the Hornets would add another run because of an error as the Hornets extend their lead to 3-0. Then in the fourth inning, the Hornets would add another run thanks to a rbi single and take the 4-0 lead. In the fourth inning, the Cougars would get on the board on the sacrifice fly by Ebersol for a 4-1 game. Although in the bottom of the fourth the Hornets retake their four-run on the sac fly by Bostyn Duquette for the 5-1 game. Then in the fifth inning, the Hornets would add two more runs thanks to the king's hit for the 7-1 lead. Then in the sixth inning, the Hornets would blow the game wide open as they would explode for a nine-run inning highlighted by a pair of extra-base hits by Trombley and King as they would make it a 16-1 game and that's where the game would finish up. With the win, the Hornets get their season started off right at 1-0 while the Cougars are still looking for a win as they are 0-2. Gallery
