The Plattsburgh State men’s basketball team’s 29-game home winning streak came to an end as SUNYAC play came to Memorial Hall, with a narrow 61-59 defeat at the hands of the Geneseo Knights. The first half set the tone for the tight affair, as the lead changed hands 10 times in the half, with Geneseo leading by as much as 5, while Plattsburgh’s largest lead stood at 3. Geneseo lead by a point with seconds remaining in the half before freshman Erik Salo beat the buzzer with a layup to send the Cardinals to the locker room with a 31-30 lead. Plattsburgh came out strong in the second half, building their lead to as much as 9. The Cardinals stayed in front through nearly the entire half, until a layup by Michael Gannon took the lead for the Knights with 27 seconds left on the clock. Gannon added a free throw to extend the lead to two. In the dying seconds of the game, Adam Jaquish made the would-be game-tying field goal just after time expired to end the game, sealing the Cardinals’ defeat. The loss ended Plattsburgh’s streak of wins in Memorial Hall, which encompassed the entire 2018-2019 season, and dropped the Cardinals to a 1-2 record in SUNYAC play. Gallery.

It would be a game that you could tell both teams were coming off the holiday break as they would have spurts on the really good play and then some not so good play. The Cardinals and Golden Knights would keep it close throughout the first half and the Cardinals would have a slim 37-33 lead at the break. As the teams came back for the second half and it would actually be even half as the Cardinals would win the half 34-32 and secure the win at 71-65. The game would be tight through the first half and the Cardinals would have a slim 37-33 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the second half the Cardinals would do there best to pull away but the Mustangs were doing there best to hang in there, the Cardinals would win the second half 46-42 and secure the 83-75 victory. When the teams came back for the second half the Cardinals would take control and pull away with a 48-35 half and secure the 84-69 victory. The game would be right where it started at the half as the teams were tied at 29 at the intermission. When the teams came back for the second half the Catamounts would take caontrol of the game and at one point have a 13 point lead although the Huskies would not go away and would get it down to five points as Vermont would win the half 46-41 and secure the 75-70 victory. The Siena Saints would host the California Poly Mustangs in front of 5700 people in non conference action at the Times Union Center. The Saints would come out use the home court to there advantage and take a 36-25 lead at the break. When the teams back for the second half they would take complete control of the game and win the half 39-29 and cruise to the 75-54 victory. It would be a game that the Saints would take the lead in the first five minutes and hold on from there but the Crusaders would keep it close throughout as the Saints would have a 45-37 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the second half the Saints would stay in control but the Crusaders would keep it close through the Saints would win the second half 29-25 and get the 74-62 victory.
