The Fourth Ward Cardinals and the Hockey Plus/Loreman's Padres locked up for a big regular-season doubleheader as they came in #1 and #2 in the standings with the Cardinals up by 1.5 games. There would not be much settled on this day as Padres would split the doubleheader and stay a 1.5 apart headed into the final week of the season. The Padres would come from behind in game 1 to win it in the 7th inning 5-4. However, the Cardinals came back to calm the game 2 with a convincing 6-0 win. The Padres will finish off the regular season on July 19th with a doubleheader in Lyon Mountain against the Miners. While the Cardinals will be hosting the Athletics at Bailey Ave. The field in Plattsburgh. Pictured is Cardinals (#20) sliding under the tag of Padres Pat Hoey (#10) for the stolen base. Gallery

With the win, the Padres move into sole position of second place and are two games behind the Cardinals. The Fourth Ward Timberjaxxs short stop ranges deep in the whole to come up with the ground and make for a very close over at the first base. Unfortunately, the Timberjaxxs would come up short on the weekend as they surrounded two games to the Padres.

Hockey Plus Padres' Chris Markwicka (#7) connects on the pitch and drives it over the wall for what was thought to be a home run at the time. Although because of a rainstorm that moved in quickly and forced a stoppage of the game and the half-inning wasn't completed it would be taken off the board. It didn't end up mattering though as the Padres would get the sweep.
