Plattsburgh State's Donald Tesoriero with the catcher saves as part of a six save night. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Castleton State Spartans in the season opener. The Cardinals would jump out to the 5-3 lead after the first quarter on goals from Billy Moller, Ryan Callahan (2), Jake Carroll, and Ryan Hubbard. In the second quarter, the Cardinal offense would step up and win the quarter 7-1 on goals from Ryan Callahan (2), Ryan Hubbard (4) and Ryan Ehli for the 12-4 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Spartans would do there best to make it a game and win the quarter 3-2 scoring for the Cardinals was Austin Belz and Brad Johnson and take a 14-7 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would put the finishing touches on the game with a 6-0 quarter with goals from Jake Carroll, Mike Gay, Austin Belz, Sean Alder, Logan Lamothe, and EJ Suris for the 20-7 victory. In the winning effort, Donald Tesoriero made 6 saves as the Cardinals go to 1-0 on the season. Gallery

Section 7 D2 Championship #1 Plattsburgh Hornets Vs #4 Beekmantown Eagles February 28th 2017

Beekmantown's Matthew Maggy (19) with the tip on the shot for the lone goal of the game. The #1 Plattsburgh Hornets would face off in the Section VII D2 championship with the #4 Beekmantown Eagles at the Plattsburgh Fieldhouse. This would be a game between two very evenly matched and would be a defensive game and game where both goals would perform great. The lone goal of the game would come with 46 seconds left in the first period when Matthew Maggy would tip the shot by Nathan Herbet. That would be all that the Eagles would need as they would hold on for the 1-0 victory. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles advance to the NYS Division II playoffs and play the Salmon River Shamrocks. Gallery

ECAC West Semi-Finals #1 Plattsburgh State Vs # Utica Pioneers February 26th 2016

Plattsburgh State's Ashley Songin (12) goes for the puck on the scramble play in front of the net. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #4 Utica Pioneers in the ECAC West Semi-Finals. The game would remain scoreless until the 1:09 mark of the second period when Mackenize Millen would score for the Cardinals to make it 1-0. The Cardinals would extend there lead to 2-0 on Melissa Sheeran's goal at 13:49. Then just 17 seconds later the Pioneers would score to keep it a one-goal game. The Cardinals would regain the two-goal lead at 3-1 on Erin Brand's powerplay goal. Then just 45 seconds later Erin Brand would score again on the power play to make it 4-1. Then at the 9:33 mark of the third period Cardinals, Melissa Sheeran would get her second goal of the night to make it 5-1. Then at 16:32 of the third period, Kayla Meneghan would score to end the game at 6-1. In the winning effort, Cammie Leonard would make 33 saves as the Cardinals advance to the ECAC West Championship against Elmira. Gallery

CVAC Class B Semi-Finals: #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars Vs #6 Beekmantown Eagles February 25th 2017

Beekmantown's Kenney Mabry (3) go up and under the defender to create space and make the basket. The #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars would meet up with the #6 Beekmantown Eagles in the Section VII Class B Semi-Finals. The Eagles would have upset on there mind early in the game as they would have an 11-5 lead after the first. In the second quarter, the Cougars would start to claw there way back wining the quarter 10-7 although the Eagles would have an 18-15 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the third the scoring would pick up and the Eagles would win the third quarter 16-13 and have a 34-28 lead head to the fourth. Although in the fourth the Cougars would have shutdown defense winning the quarter 12-4. With the Cougars would get the comeback victory at 40-38 and advance to the Class B Finals against the Plattsburgh Hornets. Gallery

This would be a tight game throughout the day and would eventually need two overtimes to decide it. The #1 Plattsburgh Hornets would get the win 61-59 in double overtime to advance to the finals against Northeastern Clinton Cougars. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Cam Owens (19) waits for the high puck to come down on the rebound attempt. The #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the number #3 Geneseo State Knights. The Cardinals would take the early 1-0 lead at 4:28 of the first on Pat Egan's goal. The Knights would answer back at the nine-minute mark to tie the game at 1. Then just 45 seconds into the second period the Knights would take the 2-1 lead. The game would stay there till 6:26 of the third period when the Cardinals would tie it at 2 on Kyle Hall's goal. The Cardinals would regain the lead at the 15-minute mark on Joe Drabin's goal at 3-2. Then just 30 seconds later Ross Sloan would score to extend the lead to 4-2. The Cardinals would finish it off with an empty netter on Pat Egan's second goal of the game as the Cardinals win 5-2. In the winning effort, Brady Rouleau would make 18 saves as they advance to the SUNYAC Finals against #1 Oswego State Gallery

The game would be tight throughout the first half as the Panthers would have a slim 39-33 lead at the break. In the second half the Panthers offense would come alive as they would win the half 52-37 and the Cardinals would fall 91-70. NCAA Division III Women's Basketball: Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs Middlebury Panthers February 14th 2017

Plattsburgh State's Brooke Brenna (13) battles for the loose ball at midcourt. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Middlebury Panthers in the last home game of the season. The game would be tight through the first quarter as the Cardinals would have a slim 15-14 lead. In the second quarter, the defenses would step and the Cardinals win the quarter 12-9 and have a 27-23 lead at the break. When the teams returned for the second half the Panthers would run away with it and win the third quarter 22-7 and have a 45-34 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would fight hard to stay in the game and win the quarter 20-14 although it would not be enough as the Cardinals would fall 59-54. Leading the way for the Cardinals would be Taylor Clare and Hope Cerasuolo with 11 points as they fall to 10-13 on the season. Gallery

Peru and Northern Adirondack wrestle battle for position in the 150lb weight class Northern Adirondack would eventually win the class. It would be the section VII sectional championships from Peru. The five schools that would be competing would be Peru Saranac, Ausable Valley, Northern Adirondack, and Beekmantown. All class winners would advance on to the New York State wrestling championships in two weeks in Albany. The eventual school champion would be Peru followed by Saranac. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey Beekmentown Eagles Vs Plattsburgh Hornets Hannah Hope Fund Game February 10th 2017

Beekmantown's Kaden Kolawaski (18) with a quick wrister in close for the goal. It would be a match between crosstown rivals for a good cause. As the Beekmantown Eagles would match up with the Plattsburgh Hornets in CVAC action. The Hornets would answer the bell first as they score 1:30 into the first period on Paul Fine-Lease's goal. The game would stay there till 2:34 into the second period when Plattsburgh's Seth Atwood would light the lamp to make it 2-0. The Hornets would expand there lead to 3-0 on Ben Champagnes' goal in the last 3 minutes of the second period. Although the Eagles would not give up the fight as they would score in the 6-minute mark of the third period on the Kaden Kowlaski goal. Although it would not be enough as the Hornets would secure the 3-1 victory and go to 10-4-1 while the Eagles fall to 7-9-1 on the season. Gallery
