Saranac's Brenna Duccatte (14) with the three from the wing as part of a game-high 31-point showing. It would be the second game of the day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and we would have the Malone Huskies and Saranac Spartand to tip-off. The Spartans would get off to a hot start against the Malone Huskies with a 21-9 opening quarter. In the second quarter, the Huskies would do their best to not let the lead expand as it would be a 15-11 quarter for the Spartans and take a 36-20 lead into the halftime break. When the teams returned for the third quarter though the Spartans would put the clamps on the Huskies and take control of the game with an 18-6 quarter and have a 54-26 lead headed into the fourth quarter. Where the teams would have an even quarter at ten a piece but the Spartans would get the convincing 64-36 victory. In the winning effort, Breena Ducatte would lead the way with 31 points as the Spartans go to 4-1 on the season and will face the Boquet Valley Griffins on the second day of the tournament while the Malone Huskies fall to 2-1 on the season and will get the Peru Nighthawks. Malone Huskies Reaghan Marlow (35) with the pad save on the Eagles breakaway attempt on net. It would be the semi-finals of the Section VII Girl's Hockey inside the Upstate New York Girl's Hockey League. The game would be tight throughout the first period and the Eagles would eventually get the opening goal with under 90 seconds left in the period from Rachel Mador to make it 1-0 Eagles. The Huskies would fight back and tie the game at one on the Olivia Cook. Although just 50 seconds later the Eagles would score to regain their one-goal lead at 2-1. Then with just under five minutes left in the second period, the Huskies would tie the game again as Olivia Cook would score her second goal of the game. Although the Eagles would keep the fight up and take the lead back once again as they would score with two minutes left in the period to make it a 3-2 game. Although once again the Huskies would tie the game once again just 4:55 into the third period at three. The game would stay all the way til the fourth overtime when the Huskies would get the game-winner just shortly after a very conversational call boarding that jarred the puck free that they put in the net for the Huskies 4-3 win. With the win, the Huskies would advance to the Section VII Championship against Adirondack on February 9th. Gallery

Malone's (10) with the arm tackle to bring Peru's Jack Hanson down from behind. It would be the opening weekend of the high school football season and the Peru Nighthawks would host Section X's Malone Huskies in non conference action. The Nighthawks would get off to a quick start with a 8 yard pass to Landon Duprey 3:40 into the game for the 6-0 lead. Then just over three minutes later the Nighthawks would strike again to make it a 13-0 lead on a 22 yard pass to Rocky Hebert. Then in the second quarter the Nighthawks would open up the flood gates and strike four times to take a 40-0 lead into the break on scores from Jack Hanson, Landon Duprey, Rocky Hebert, and Jack Hayes. When the teams back for the second half there would be no let up as they would get another two scores to take a 53-0 lead on scores from Landon Duprey (third of the game), and Zach Hunter. In the fourth quarter the Nighthawks would get one more to secure the 60-0 victory on a 38 yard pass to Preston Daniels. With the win the Nighthawks will start there season 1-0 as they will welcome in the Beekmantown Eagles next week to get there conference season underway.

Plattsburgh's Michael Phillips (2) with the long-range shot over the Huskies defender. It would be a non-conference affair as the Malone Huskies would travel to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets for a little north country pride. The game would start off great for the home Hornets as they would jump out to a quick 23-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Huskies would start to get their stroke going and tie the Hornets for the quarter at 17 as the Hornets take a 40-25 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter both had made adjustments but it would be another fairly even quarter at 16-15 Huskies but the Hornets would still lead big at 55-41 as they head to the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Hornets would put the final touches on the Huskies with a 20-10 quarter and secure the 75-51 win. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 9-3 and the Huskies fall to 6-3 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Amelia Lebrun (30) with the pad save on the scramble in front of the net. It would be a matchup in the Upstate New York Hockey League as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Malone Huskies. It would be an evenly matched game throughout. The Huskies would light the lamp early in the first period at the 3:51 mark from Oliva Cook but it would be the only goal of the period as the Huskies held a 1-0 after the first. In the second period, the Huskies would waste little time stretching the lead to 2-0 just 45 seconds in. Although the Hornets would answer back quickly at the 2:29 mark of the period from Ava Perry to make it 2-1 game. Although just thirty seconds later the Huskies would regain their two-goal lead at 3-1. Then at the 8:15 mark of the second period, the Hornets would answer back this time from Amanda Vaughn and make it a 3-2 game as they headed to the third period. In that third period the Hornets would tie the game up at three with under minutes left on Amanda Vaughns's second goal of the game and that is where the game would finish after five-minute over time we have a 3-3 tie game.
