High School Boy's Hockey: #10 Saranac Spartans @ Churchville Chili Saints January 18th, 2025

Saranac's Landon Giroux (17) and Churchville Chili's Benjamin Kanellis (19) meet the minds as they go after the loose puck in the zone. It would be the second game of the weekend for the #10 Saranac Spartans on their road trip to the Finger Lakes region of New York State as they would take on the Churchville Chili Saints from the Scottsville Ice Arena. The hometown saints would get the lone goal of the first period at the 4:15 mark of the period on the wrister from Anthony Indiano to make it a 1-0 game, and that's where the first period would end. The second period would start well for the road-traveled Spatans as they would tie the game one on Ryan Campbell's goal at 2:59. Then, just under two minutes later, the Spartans would lead the game on the breakaway goal from Gabe Moo. TWith20 seconds left in the period, the Saints would answer back and tie the game at two on the Grayson Galliford. But that's not where the period would end as the Spartans would retake the lead at 3-2 off the issuing faceoff when Ryan Campbel would bring it down and snip it by before time expires. Then, in the third period, the Spartans would get the needed two-goal lead when Deacon Giroux found the net for the first time in his career at the 8:12 mark of the period, and from there, the defense would put the Saints in check, and get the 4-2 victory In the winning effort for the Spartans, they will go to 8-2-1 on the season as they head into their big rivalry game on Tuesday against the Beekmantown Eagles. As for the Churchville Chili Saints, they will lose their second on the weekend and go to 5-8 on the year as they will play Pitsford on Tuesday in their next game. Gallery

Churchville-Chilli's Max McKay (24) comes down and beats Saranac's Joey Mitchell to tie the game at one. The Saranac Chiefs would have a nonleague match-up from Section V tonight as they would host the #11 Churchville-Chilli Saints at the Amer-can North Sports Center. The game would start well for the home Chiefs as they would get the game's opening goal from Nolan Miner just 90 seconds into the contest. The game would stay there all the way till the 4:19 mark of the second period when Max McKay would score on the breakaway for the Saints and make it a 1-1 game. Although the Chiefs would keep coming and coming and under four minutes left in the period they would retake the lead at 2-1 on the Adrian Barnes goal. That's where the game would stay till the last 1:19 of the game when the Chiefs would score as Nolan Miner would get his second goal of the game and extend the Chief's lead to 3-1. Although there wasn't much time left in the game it wouldn't take the fight out of the Saints as they would score with the extra man from Beckham Clancy with four seconds left. The Chiefs would get the 3-2 win on the night behind the 24 saves a night of Joey Mitchell as the Chiefs go to 7-1-2 on the season. Saranac's Kyle Erickson (10) wins in the zone face off to gain the advantage for the Chiefs. The Saranac Chiefs would host the Churchville-Chilli in the North Country Cup at the Stafford Ice Arena in Plattsburgh. Churchville would get three goals in the first period and not look back from there. Churchville would take a 4-0 lead 8 minutes into the second period. Dylan Baker would get the Chiefs on the broad with a goal with under a minute left in the period. Although before time would expire Churchville would score again to make it 5-1 after the second period. In the third period, Churchville would score in the opening minute to make it 6-1. Then in the final 30 seconds of the game, the Chiefs would get two goals from Jacob Lilledahl and Matt McCasland to make it a 6-3 Churchville win. In the lose Zach LaReau would stop 37 of 43 shots as the Chiefs fall to 2-11. The Chiefs will look to regroup when they get back into sectional play next week. Gallery
