Clinton Community College Holiday Classic: Crown Point Panthers Vs Seton Catholic Knights December 28th 2022

Seton Catholic's Aiden Pearl (22) and Trevor Harris rise up for the tip to get the overtime period under way. It would be the second game of the day at the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic as the Seton Catholic Knights would meet up with the Crown Point Panthers. It would look like a couple of evenly matched teams through the first quarter as the Panthers would have the slim 11-9 lead. In the second quarter, the Panthers would show their might with a 16-8 quarter and take a 27-17 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Knights would start to make their comeback as they would win the quarter 14-12 but still trail 39-31 as they headed to the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would step up their defense and have a 10-2 quarter and force the overtime tied at 41. In that overtime it would be tight throughout as the Panthers would win 7-5 and get the 48-46 victory. In the winning effort, the Panthers went 1-1 at the Holiday Classic and are 7-1 on the season as the Knights went 0-2 at the Holiday Classic and are 2-5 on the season. Gallery

Clinton Community College Holiday Classic: Boquet Valley Griffins Vs Saranac Chiefs December 28th 2022

Saranac's Caden Clark (24) with the one-handed shot along the baseline for the score. It would be the last game of the 2022 Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would pit the Saranac Chiefs and Boquet Valley Griffins with the winner being named the boy portions champion. The game would start off well for the Chiefs as they would be on fire and have a 20-3 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Chiefs would stay hot but the Griffins would find their stroke the Chiefs would win the quarter 20-16 and take a 40-19 lead into halftime. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Chiefs would continue their hot hand with a 23-4 quarter and take a 63-23 lead into the 4th quarter. In that 4th quarter with the winning a forgone conclusion the Chiefs would win the quarter 16-7 and get the convincing 70-39 victory. With the win, the Saranac Chiefs win the boy's portion of the 2022 Holiday Classic making it a clean sweep for the Saranac Chiefs at the Holiday Classic the boy's team would go to 4-5 on the season and the Griffins fall to 3-3 on the year. Clinton Community College Holiday Classic: Seton Catholic Knights Vs Saranac Chiefs December 27th 2022

Seton Catholic's Oliver Hughes (10) takes flight among the trees and gets over Saranac's Garrett Kiroy (32) as he would lay it off the window. It would be the opening game of the 2022 Clinton Community College Holiday Classic as the Saranac Chiefs would match up with the Seton Catholic NYSPHSAA Section VII action. The game would start off very well for the Chiefs as they would shut out the Knights in the opening quarter and have an 11-0 lead. In the second quarter, the Knights would get on the board and do their best to get back in the game as the Chiefs would lead the quarter by a slim 14-11 margin and take a 25-11 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Knights would put out a great effort but the early whole would be too much to overcome as they would win the quarter 15-13 but still trail 38-26 as they entered the fourth quarter. In the 4th quarter, the Chiefs would keep firing to keep their big lead with a 15-13 quarter to secure the 53-39 victory. In the winning effort, the Chiefs go to 3-5 on the season and will take on the Crown Point Panthers tomorrow (December 28th) for the Holiday Classic title as the Seton Catholic Knights fall to 2-4 on the season. Clinton Community College Holiday Classic: Crown Point Panthers Vs Boquet Valley Griffins December 27th 2022

Boquet Valley's Carson Leibeck (15) takes flight on the breakaway off the turnover and lays it off the window for the score. It would be the third game of the day on the opening day of the 2022 Clinton Community College Holiday Classic as the Crown Point Panthers and the Boquet Valley Griffins in a rematch of last season's section vii class d finals and it would be seen way throughout the game. It would be a very even game from the start so even that it would be tied at 10 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, there still would be no separation as they would tie at twelve for the quarter and go into the intermission tied at 22. When the teams came back for the third quarter it would be seen that the Panthers had regrouped their approach and would have a 22-14 quarter and take a 44-36 lead into the final quarter. In that final quarter, it would be low scoring but the Panthers would win the quarter at 9-6 and hold on for the 53-42 victory. In the winning effort, the Panthers would now take on the Saranac Chiefs on December 28th as they would go for the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic title and go to 6-1 on the season as the Griffins fall to 3-2 on the season. Moriah Vikings @ Plattsburgh Hornets Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball December 20th 2022

Moriah's Logan Gilbo (22) with the mid-range jumper over Plattsburgh's Chase Laravia (22) as he went for the block. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets at 1-5 would host the Moriah Vikings at 2-0 in their last game before the Christmas break and the Hornets would be looking to build off their first win of the year from over the weekend. The game would start off well for the visiting Vikings as they would have an 18-13 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would stay tight although the Vikings would win the quarter slightly at 10-8 and take a 28-21 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half it would be more of the same for the Vikings as the Hornets would do their best to stay within striking distance with a 14-9 quarter for the Vikings as they would have a 42-30 lead as they went into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the offenses would step up on both sides as the Vikings would win the quarter at 19-12 and secure the 61-42 win. Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball Boquet Valley Griffins @ Seton Catholic Knights December 9th 2022

Boquet Valley's Maddox Rice (21) rises up over Seton Catholic's Ashton Guay for the score. It would be the season opener for the Seton Catholic Knights as they would host the Boquet Valley Griffins in Mountain Valley Athletic Conference action. The first quarter would not go the way of the Knights as they were still feeling stuff out in the opener and would trail 13-2 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Knights would come alive and make a game of it with a 13-4 quarter and trail by a slim 17-15 at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Griffins would find their game again, take the quarter 13-8 and the 30-23 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the defenses would step up and the Griffins would win the quarter by a slim 9-8 and secure the 39-31 victory. Saranac Chiefs @ Plattsburgh Hornets Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball December 13th 2022

Saranac's Caswell McCoy (2) with the three from the elbow over an outstretched Hornets defender for the score. It would be the battle of the Saranac river as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Chiefs in CVAC action as both teams were looking to get their first win of the season. The first quarter would definitely be a feeling-out period as it would be locked up at eight at the end of the first quarter. Although in the second quarter the Chiefs would start to find their stride as they would go on a 16-4 run for the quarter and take a 24-12 lead into the locker room. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Hornets would try their best to get back in the game with a run of their own in the quarter with a 15-8 quarter and trail 32-27 into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Chiefs would get back on track and hold the Hornets in check with an 11-10 quarter and secure the 43-37 victory. In the winning effort, Sebastian Dandrow-Pellerin would lead the way with 11 points as the Chiefs gets their first win of the season. Beekmantown Eagles @ Plattsburgh Hornets Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball December 8th 2022

Plattsburgh's Max Filosca (5) with the mid range jumper over Beekmantown's Nathan Parliament (23) for the score. It would be the home opener for the Plattsburgh Hornets as they would take on crosstown rival the Beekmantown Eagles to get the home portion of their 2022-23 season underway and would like to right the ship as they lose the first couple on the road to start the season as for the Eagles they would come in 1-0. The game would start off tight as the Eagles would have a slim 16-12 lead after the game's first eight minutes. In the second quarter, the game would stay tight and the Hornets would fight to stay in the game as the Eagles would win the quarter 16-14 and take a 32-26 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Eagles came out firing and it looked like the Hornets were having issues getting the game going again as the Eagles would win the third 20-12 and take the 52-38 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would stay on the gas and win the quarter 16-9 to secure the 68-47 win. #13 Seton Catholic Knights Vs #15 Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville Wolves NYSPHSAA Boy's Basketball Class D Regional March 13th 2022

O.E.S.J. Wolves Peyton Logan Dillenbeck (1) with the floater in traffic for the score. It would be the 2022 NYSPHSAA Class D Boy's Basketball Northern Regional Finals and it would feature #13 Seton Catholic Knights and #15 Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville Wolves. It would be a tight game through the first quarter but the Wolves would take a 17-14 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Wolves would start to take control of the game as they had a 15-5 quarter and take a 32-19 lead into the intermission. #8 Ichabod Crane Riders Vs Plattsburgh Hornets NYSPHSAA Boy's Basketball Class B Regional March 13th 2022

Ichabod Crane's Jason Borrelli (1) cuts off the attack of Plattsburgh's Carter King (24). It would be the last game of the 2022 NYSPHSAA Northern Regionals finals from Clinton Community College and it would feature the #8 Ichabod Crane Riders and the Plattsburgh Hornets in boy's class b action. The game would start off good for the Riders as they would streak out to a 20-6 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, it would be more of the same for the Riders as they would have a 17-6 quarter and take a 37-12 lead into the break. When they came back for the second half the Hornets still would have no answer for the Riders as they would get outscored 38-19 and fall to the Riders 75-31, In the winning effort the #8 Ichabod Crane Riders would punch their ticket to Glens Falls and the NYSPHSAA Class B Boy's Basketball final four and the Plattsburgh Hornets season would come to an end at a mark of 16-5. #2 Ausable Valley Patriots Vs #1 Moriah Vikings Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball Class C Championship March 4th 2022

Moriah's Bryce Sprague (33) splits the defender and takes flight for the layup and score. It would be the first Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball championship of the weekend as the #1 Moriah Vikings would face off with the #2 Ausable Valley Patriots for the class c championship and punch their ticket to the NYSPHSAA Tournament. The game would not start off good for the defending championing Moriah Vikings as they would start the game off down 11-2 but would start to come back as they would finish the quarter 8-6 and trail 17-10 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, they would get the hot a hand going on a 15-10 quarter and trail by a slim 27-25 at the intermission. In the third quarter, they would take the lead on the strength of some good defense with 12-9 quarter and take the small 37-36 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Vikings offense would continue to stay hot and would finish off the Patriots with an 18-13 quarter and secure the 55-49 victory. In the winning effort, the Moriah Vikings advance to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and will take on #`16 Madrid Waddington from Section X On March 9th at SUNY Canton as the Ausable Valley Patriots season comes to an end at 15-5. #3 Boquet Valley Griffins Vs #1 Seton Catholic Knights Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball Class D Championship March 5th 2022

Seton Catholic's Ashton Guay (3) splits through a pair of defenders as he drives to the basket and the score. It would be the second championship of the day as the Boquet Valley Griffins would be looking to sweep the Class D crown as they would take on the Seton Catholic Knights in the Section VII Class D title game. It was looking good for the Griffins after the first quarter for the sweep as they would have the 15-9 lead. In the second quarter, the offense for the Seton Catholic Knights would start to set in as they would have a 21-13 quarter and take the slim 30-28 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Knights would start to pull away in the game as they would double up the Griffins with a 16-8 quarter and take a 46-36 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Griffins would try their best to stay in the game but they wouldn't have an answer with a 13-12 quarter for the Knights and secure the 59-48 win. With the win, the Seton Catholic Knights would advance to the NYSPHSAA Class D Tournament and play for a chance to go to the final four next Saturday, March 12th. as the Boquet Valley Griffins season comes to end at 17-6. #5 Northeastern Clinton Cougars Vs #2 Plattsburgh Hornets Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball Class B Championship March 5th 2022

Northeastern Clinton's Darren Dubois (23) soars over a group of Plattsburgh Hornets defenders on the mid-range jumper. It would be the last Section VII championship of the weekend as the upset-minded #5 Northeastern Clinton Cougars would do battle with the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets. The Cinderella season would like would continue for the Cougars as they would have the 15-11 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets offense would come alive with an 18-10 quarter and have a 29-25 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the offense would stay hot as they would put together a 20-11 quarter and take the 49-36 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Hornets would put the final touches on the game with a 16-8 quarter and secure the 66-44 victory and the 2022 Section VII Class B championship. With the win, the Plattsburgh Hornets will enter the NYSPHSAA Class B Tournament and will advance to the quarterfinals on March 12th against the winner of the sections x and ii winners. #4 Schroon Lake Wildcats Vs #1 Seton Catholic Knights Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball Class D Semi-finals March 2nd 2022

Schroon Lake’s Ian Pelkey turns to drive toward the basket after getting behind Seton’s Aiden Pearl. The Seton Catholic boys basketball team earned a postseason victory Wednesday with a 53-41 over Schroon Lake in the Class D semifinal.
The Knights looked to set the tone early, maintaining a lead through most of the first quarter led by 7 points from Ashton Guay, but a three-point shot from Carter Hart late in the quarter gave the Wildcats an 11-9 advantage at the first buzzer.
Seton pulled away in the second quarter, with Guay, Alex Coupal, and Aiden Pearl each scoring five or more as the Knights outscored the Wildcats 17-4 in the quarter.
The Knights expanded their lead in the third, as Pearl posted 8 points to nearly match Schroon Lake's team total of 9 in the frame. Isaiah Pelkey's 12-point fourth-quarter performance was unable to close the gap, and Seton sealed it for the home victory.
Guay led the Knights' scoring with 20 points, followed by Pearl's 18. Pelkey's late burst in the comeback attempt saw him end with 25 points in the game.
With the win, Seton advanced to the Class D final against Boquet Valley Saturday at Clinton Community College.

#5 Northeastern Clinton Cougars @ #1 Saranac Chiefs Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball Class B Semi-Finals February 26th 2022

It would be game number 2 on the day for Saranac High School as the #1 Saranac Chiefs would host the #5 Northeastern Clinton Cougars in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Semi-Finals and take on the winner of #2 Plattsburgh Hornets and #3 Saranac Lake Red Storm in finals on March 5th at Clinton Community College. The upset-minded Cougars would be in good shape after the first quarter with a quick sprint to a 19-12 lead. In the second quarter, the Chiefs would start pulling them back in with a 15-p quarter and trail 28-27 at the intermission. The third quarter when the teams came back would be an even quarter with nine points each making it 37-36 game headed to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, some clinch defense by the Cougars would lead to an 18-13 quarter and a 55-49 win for the Cougars. Northeastern Clinton Cougars @ Peru Nighthawks Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball February 8th 2022

Peru's Samuel Godfrey (23) with the three from the corner as part of a game-high 17 point night. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference tilt as the host Peru Nighthawks would take on the Northeastern Clinton Cougars on a senior night for Peru. Although the seniors were honored before the game it would not be meant to be on this night as the Cougars would have a 25-19 lead at the half despite the best efforts by Nighthawks. When the teams would return for the second half the Nighthawks would try their best to stay in the game but the Cougars would have a 28-13 quarter and cruise to the 53-32 win. In the winning effort for the Cougars, Gillbo and Manor would lead the way 12 points as they go to 7-11 on the season. As for the Nighthawks, Samuel Godfrey would have a game of 17 points but it wouldn't be enough as they fall to 2-15 on the season. Gallery

Peru Nighhawks @ Plattsburgh Hornets Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boyl's Basketball January 20th 2022

It would be a non-conference affair as the Malone Huskies would travel to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets for a little north country pride. The game would start off great for the home Hornets as they would jump out to a quick 23-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Huskies would start to get their stroke going and tie the Hornets for the quarter at 17 as the Hornets take a 40-25 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter both had made adjustments but it would be another fairly even quarter at 16-15 Huskies but the Hornets would still lead big at 55-41 as they head to the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Hornets would put the final touches on the Huskies with a 20-10 quarter and secure the 75-51 win. Before the game started the Hornets would honor their seven seniors on the team. The home Hornets would come out hot and breakout to a big lead with a 23-9 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets would stay hot with a 15-7 quarter and take a 42-16 lead into the intermission. The third quarter would be the evenest quarter of the night as the Hornets would win the quarter at 15-12 and take a 57-28 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the teams would still play tight but the early deficit was too much as the Hornets win the quarter 15-10 and secure the 72-38 victory.
