Cody Agoney (51x) takes it for a ride and up and over she goes as Tyler Irwin (54) avoids hitting him as he scatters to the top of the track. It would be the second week of racing at the Airborne Speedway and it would be the return of the 358 Modifieds for the showdown for the first time since the end of the 2019 season. With that being said the 358 Modifieds would be first up for the heat races and the winners would be Chris Raabe and Mathieu Desjardins. Next up would be the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified for their three heats races on the night and the winners would be, Michael Delormier, Lonnie Rivers, and Codie Aubin. Then we would have the Hartson Total Opening Renegades and their two heat races and it would be a family affair in victory as the winners would be Josh and Tyler Terry. Then we would have the ever-popular Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders with their 2 heats on the night and the winners would be Bill Doner and Matt Parker. Then next up to the track would be the first main event of the evening with the Return of the 358 Modified and would be a great race between the 17 cars on the track as they would do the whole race caution-free as Chris Raabe would pick up the win over a hard-charging Mike Mahaney and Carey Terrance to round out the top three on the night. Then we would have the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified for 25 laps and a 21 car field to start and their event would also go caution-free and Robert Delormeir would take his pole position and not give it up as he would lead all 25 laps to the race win over Codie Aubin and Lonnie Rivers to round out the top three on the night. Then we would have the popular Hartson Total Opening Renegades and a fourteen-car field on the night and Zack Daniels would come from the fourth spot and get the win. There would be some excitement during the race though as Cody Agoney would spin out in turn 1 and catch a rout and it would take the car on over and bring out the red flag. Once the red flag was lifted and we got back to racing Richie Turner would make a charge from the back for a second-place finish and Tyler Irwin would round out the top three in the division. Then we would have the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders and packed seventeen car field and it would be Nathan Smart charging from the back row to front to gain his second straight win on the season with Matt Parker and Mat LaValley (first career top 3) rounding out the podium on the night. Then it would be the last race of the night a five-lap match race between Kobe Hernandez, and Jonathan Toohill in the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified, and the win would go to Kobe Hernandez. The action will be back next Saturday night May 14th at Airborne Speedway with all four regular divisions back in action on Riley Ford Law Enforcement night where any law enforcement member with proper ID will be granted free entry into the races on the night. It would be some four-wide racing through turns 1 and 2 of the 4 cylinders main between Greg Zindler (46), Nate Harden (125), (65), and Caleb Tourville (42) as the high for a top 3 finish on opening night. It would the season opener for the Airborne Speedway and they would bring in the Dirtcar Sportsman North/East Series with a liquor and wine warehouse presenting the night of racing. The pits would be packed for the opening night of racing as there would be nearly 100 cars in the pits for the dour divisions on the night, Sportsman Modified, Novice Sportsman Modifieds, Renegades, and the 4 Cylinders. We would start the night with the opening ceremonies and honoring once again the 2021 season champions. When the racing got underway we would start with the Sportsman Modified there were six heats and the winners would be David Boisclair, Dave Rodgers, Shane Pecore, Jamy Begor, Zach Buff, and Andrew Buff. Then next up we would have the Renegades for their two heats with wins going to Shawn Duquette and Zack Daniels. Then the Novice Sportsman Modified would have their heat and the win would go to Dale Gonyo. Then the heat racing would end with the 4 cylinders having their two hears and the winners would be Nate and Bill Doner to end the heat racing the night. Although that would not be the end of qualifying as with the large amount of Sportsman Modified they would need three Last Chance Qualifiers to finish out the field for the A-Main and the winners would be Michael Wagner, and Richie Simmons, and Beau Reeves. With all the qualifying down it would be on to the main events of the evening and the first one up would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders with last year's champion Nate Smart starting on the pole he would hold upfront and get the first race win of the season but not without stiff competition from Greg Zindler and Nate Harden who would round out the top three. The next main event of the evening would be the showcase event as the Dirtcar Sportsman Modified North/East Series would take to the track for 40 laps with a packed 33 cars starting. After a few opening lap crashes the cars would be pulled to the pits and the rest of the evening would be postponed as they deemed the track unsafe as drivers were unable to see the car in front of them with the dust spray. The rest of the event including the Sportsman Modified race will be rescheduled to a later date. The Airborne Speedway will be back in action next weekend May 7th with the return of the 358 Modifieds. Gallery
