The 2013 edition of the Champlain Valley Baseball League would get underway with a rematch of the championship from 2012 as the Peabody's Padres would host the Lyon Mountain Miners. In-game 1 of the doubleheader, the Padres would take a 2-0 lead in the first. Although the lead would be short-lived as the Miners would come back and get 1 in the second. Then in the third and fourth the Miners would get 12 more runs thanks to some untimely errors by the Padres and game would be called after 5 at 13-3. Game two would be a lot more competitive game as the Padres would have a 5-3 lead entering the six and the Miners would get 1 run in the 6th and 7th to force extra innings tied at 5-5. Then on the 8th, the Miners would get three runs to secure the 8-5 victory. With the result of the opening week, the Miners are 2-0 while the Padres are 0-2. Gallery
