The Plattsburgh State Cardinals pose for there team photo as they are crowned the 2016 W.B. Mason Winter Classic champions. The game would be tight throughout the start and be scoreless after the first period of play. The Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead a 1:16 into the second period when Ryan Chaisson would get his first collegiate goal. Then at 12:14 mark of the second period, the Cardinals would extend there lead to 2-0 on a power-play goal from Pat Egan. Then in the last minutes of the third period, Ryan Botting would put the icing on the cake with his own power-play goal to secure the 3-0 victory and give the Cardinals the championship.
