Peru's Ian Joy (18) with the crunching hit on Plattsburgh's Colin Golden (44) as soon as he catches the ball. It would be the semi-finals of the New York State Section VII Class B and the #3 Plattsburgh Hotnets travel to the #2 Peru Indians. The Indians would take the 3-0 lead on the first drive of the game with a 24 yard yard field goal by Keegan Smith. The game would stay there till 2:30 left in the half when the Indians would add another field goal from Keegan Smith this time 32 yards for the 6-0 lead as they head to the break. When the teams came out for the second it would be the tail of two halves as the Hornets offense would open up with a 27 yard pass touchdown to Ian Detuelleo to give the Hornets the 7-6 lead five minutes into the half. Then just 2:30 minutes later the Hornets would strike again on the ten yard run by Javon Carpenter for the 14-6 lead. From there on the defenses would be a wall and there would be no scoring. With that be said the Plattsburgh Hornets would get the 14-6 over the Peru Indians and both teams go to 4-4 on the season while the Hornets head to the sectional championship against the Beekmantown Eagles. Plattsburgh Hornets @ Saranac Chiefs - Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football - October 19th 2019

Saranac's Addison Kelting (23) fends off Plattsburgh's Hayden Dandrow (80) as he takes it around the edge for the gain. It wouldn't just be the last week of Champlain Valley Athletic Conference regular season but the last game and it would feature the Plattsburgh Hornets and Saranac Chiefs. Defense would be the name of the game in the first half as neither team would be able to get the ball in endzone. The Hornets would eventual get on the board and take the 7-0 lead on the Javon Carpenter 30 yard pass 3:30 into the third quarter. The Hornets would extent there lead to 14-0 on the Dylan Garranrt 54 yard pass one minute into the fourth quarter. The Chiefs would cut the lead in half with just under five minutes left in the fourth on the seven yard pass to Justin Bedard to make 14-6. That would be all the scoring as the Hornets would hold onto the win and go to 3-4 on the season while the Chiefs fall to 3-4. The playoffs start next week and the Plattsburgh Hornets will travel to Peru for the Indians in the Class B Semifinals while the Chiefs will travel to Saranac Lake and play Red Storm. Gallery

Vermont Catamounts @ #10 Clarkson Golden Knights - NCAA Men's Hockey - October 18th 2019

Vermont's Stefanos Lekkas (40) with the stick save on Clarkson's Anthony Callin (44) crossing in front. It would be the Clarkson Golden Knights hosting the Vermont Catamounts in the home opener at Cheel arena. The game would would take a while to get going as the game would still be scoreless after the first period. The Golden Knights would take the 1-0 lead 6:43 into second period when Zach Tsekos would score on the power play to make it 1-0. The Catamounts would fight there way back and tie the game up at 1 at the 12 minute mark of the period on the Joey Cipollone goal. We would go to the third tied but the Catamounts would take the lead 2-1 quickly into the period on the Christian Evers goal. The Golden Knights would give up though as they would tie the game up at the ten minute mark when Zach Tsekos gets his second of the night. The Golden Knights would regain the lead 3-2 on Zach Tsekos third goal of the night. From there the Golden Knights would hold on for the win. In the winning effort Frank Marotte would make 31 saves as the Golden Knights go to 2-0-1 while the Catamounts fall to 0-1. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Myles King (88) with the crunching hit at the end of the game on Ticonderoga's Dillon Schlogl (1) to break up the pass. It would be week 6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and it would feature the Ticonderoga Sentinels at the Plattsburgh Hornets. It would take sometime for the scoring to happen as the defenses were up to the challenge. Then Hornets would end up taking the 7-0 lead on the 17 yard touchdown pass to Dylan Garrant as the second quarter began. That is where the score would remain through the first half and until the 3:25 of the third quarter when the Hornets extend there lead to 14-0 on Javon Carpenters ten yard run. The Hornets would take control of the game with just under 4 minutes left in third quarter when Myles King would catch the pass at the goal line for the 20-0 lead. The Sentinels would get on the board 1:30 into the fourth quarter on Monty Benedict touchdown to make it 20-7 down the stretch. Although the Hornets would put the game away down the stretch on the 2 yard pass to Benjamin Bourdeau and secure the 27-7 win. In the winning effort the Hornets go to 2-4 while the Sentinels fall to 1-5 on the season. Gallery

Saranac Chiefs @ Peru Indians - Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football - October 11th 2019

Saranac's Connor Recore (80) with the unbalance catch along the sidelines with Peru's Gavin Partdon (30) with the coverage. A sluggish first quarter wasn't enough to deter the Peru Indians, as they rode a solid running game to a second-half comeback, snapping their losing streak with a 21-11 win over Saranac. The Indians found themselves in a hole early, as Saranac's Connor Burns found Hunter Devins for a 73-yard touchdown pass. Two botched fourth-down snaps by Peru resulted in a pair of safeties, and the Chiefs led 11-0 after one quarter of play. That would be the end of the scoring for the visiting team, though, and Peru found its elusive running game on the back of Jack Hanson, who rattled off 181 rushing yards in the game. Twice in the second quarter, the Indians drove to within five yards, only to two turn the ball over each time. Momentum remained with Peru in the second half. An interception by Gavin Padron set the Indians up for a five-yard touchdown run by Hanson to cut the Chiefs' lead, and a 38-yard scoring run in the third quarter by Hanson gave the home side the lead.The Indians put the game away for good with a five-yard pass by Zach O'Connell to Austin Carpenter.The result leaves both teams with a record of 3-3 heading into the final week of the regular season. The Indians will host Saranac Lake at 7:30 p.m. Friday, while the Chiefs will host Plattsburgh High School Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Gallery

Ausable Valley's Luis Perez (3) comes back on the ball for the catch and then turns up the field for the 65 yard touchdown.It would be week 6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and would feature the Moriah Vikings traveling up to the the Au Sable Patriots. The game would start of good for the Patriots as they would hit Luis Perez with a 65 yard pass on the first play of the game for a quick 8-0 lead. Although the Vikings would strike right back two plays later with a Maddox Blaise 63 yard run to tie the game at 8. Then the Vikings would strike again at 4:17 mark of the first quarter on a 3 yard run and take a 16-8. The Vikings would strike one more time in the first quarter with 4 minutes left on Mason Spring sneak to take a 24-8 lead. As time would expire in the first quarter the Patriots would cut the lead in half at 24-15 on the Evan Snow QB sneak. The scoring would slow down from there as the Vikings would score 3 minutes into the quarter on the Luke Spring 15 yard pass to make it 30-15. The Vikings would score as time would expire in the half on a very controversial touchdown Braden Swan to make it 38-15 at the half. When the teams came back the second half the scoring would slow down. As the Vikings would get the only score of the half at 3:24 of the third quarter on the Maddox Blaise run and secure the 44-15 win. In the winning effort the Moriah Vikings go to 4-2 while the Ausable Valley Patriots fall to 3-3 season as the teams go into the last week of the season. Gallery

It would be week 5 of the champlain valley athletic conference and would feature the Plattsburgh Hornets at the Beekmantown Eagles at the all new Beekmantown Sports Complex. The game would take sometime to get going and it the Eagles would get on the board with the quarterback keeper for a 7 yard run by Nate Finley to make it 6-0. That would be the only scoring all the way til there was four minutes left in third quarter when Matt Dion would scoop up a fumble and take it 65 yards for the score. From there to the end the defense would clap down and the and the Eagles would get the 13-0 win. With the win the Eagles go to 4-1 and take the lead in the division while the Hornets fall to 1-4 on the season. Gallery

Porier's True Value Enduro 125 Presented by Rene Repair - September 29th 2019

battling for the lead

Nick Heywood (86) and Michael Wright (78) battle for the lead late in the race. It would be the annual Porier's True Value Enduro 125 presented by Rene Repair and this years edition would have 95 cars. With the 95 cars on the track when the race started you can imagine the first few laps would be interesting with much contact and many dead cars scattered around the track. The early race leader would Josh Laporte and would have the lead til midway through when he would make contact with on the dead cars. Inhering the lead would be Michael Wright and he would have the lead until the closing laps when a slower car would take him out. Taking over the lead and hanging on for the win would be Nick Heywood and Michael Wright would rally back for second place and finishing out the top three would be Cody Kilburn. With the end of this race will close out the 2019 season at Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway.Gallery

Saranac's Hunter Devins (21) through the gap and takes it in for the score. It would be week four of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and are saturday tilt would feature the Ausable Valley Patriots @ the Saranac Chiefs. The game would start off with a bang as Eli Douglas would run back the opening kickoff 92 yards and give the Patriots the 6-0 lead. The Chiefs would come right back and score four minutes later on a 2 yard run by Hunter Devins and would convert on the two point conversion and take the 8-6 lead and that would end the scoring in the first half. The Patriots would regain the lead at 13-8 on the 14 yard pass to Eli Douglas. Then just two and half minutes later the Patriots would extend there lead to as Eli Douglas would strike again this time for 73 yards and make it a 19-8 game. Then with four minutes left in the game the Patriots would put the icing on the cake with Nate Doner's 15 yard run for the 25-8 lead and hold on for the victory. In the winning effort the Patriots go to 2-2 on the season while the Chiefs fall to 2-2 on the season. Gallery

Beekmentown Eagles @ Peru Indians - Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football - September 27th 2019

Peru's Austin Carpenter (3) with the catch over the middle for the first down. It would be week four of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and it would be the classic matchup under the lights as the Peru Indians would host the Beekmantown Eagles. The game would start of like the classic as there would be no score after the first quarter. The Eagles would finally break through four minutes into the second quarter as Connor McGinnis would score on a 23 yard run for the 6-0 lead. Then at the 7:44 mark of the 2nd quarter the Eagles would double there lead on a 54 yard pass and catch to Kaden Myers for the 12-0 lead. Then with just over two minutes left in the half Myers would score on a 11 yard run for the 19-0 lead at the half. When the teams came back for the second half the Eagles would keep up the effort as they would extend there lead to 26-0 on a one yard sneak by Nathan Finley. That would end the scoring on the night and the Eagles would get the 26-0 win. In the winning effort the Beekmentown Eagles go to 3-1 while the Peru Indians fall to 2-2 on the season. Gallery
