It would be the last game of the day on the opening night of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic as it would pit the Peru Nighthawks and Seton Catholic Knights. It would be an even match through although on the low-scoring end to the point where the Nighthawks would lead 5-4 after the first quarter. Although in the second quarter the Knights would find their shooting rhyme and have a 13-4 quarter to take the 17-9 lead into the locker room. When the teams came out of the locker room the Nighthawks would flip the script with an 11-2 quarter into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would need some last-second magic to keep the game alive as they would score in the last seconds of the game to force overtime tied at 30. In the overtime frame, the Nighthawks would find their offense and pull away at the end with a 12-6 quarter to secure the 42-36 victory. In the winning effort, the Peru Nighthawks will have a shot to be crowned the 2022 Holiday Classic champion as they will take on the Boquet Valley Griffins as they go to 3-2 on the season and the Knights fall to 2-4 on the season. There would be a spot in the final four on the line today at the Ausable Valley Central School as the #9 Peru Nighthawks would take on the #11 Ravena Indians in the Northern Regional finals of the NYSPHSAA Class B Tournament. The Indians would get the first score of the game at the 9:29 mark of the first quarter on a 56 yard strike to Dominik Paljusak and take a 6-0 lead. The game would stay there til the 2:38 mark of the second quarter when the Indians would score again on a 4 yard run by Aidan Locher and take the 14-0 lead. With about a 1:30 left in the half the Indians would start to pull away in the game as Dominik Paljusak would get his second touchdown of the game and make it a 20-0 lead. Although with 30 seconds left in the half the Nighthawks would get on the board to breakup the rush by the Indians on a 22 yard hook and ladder play and make it 20-7 game at the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the defenses would stand tall in the third quarter. The next score would come at the 3:29 mark of the fourth quarter on a 18 yard run by Aidan Locher and take a 28-7 lead. The Nighthawks would have another halfway through the quarter on a 1 yard run by Jack Hanson and make it a 28-13 game. Ravena would answer back with three minutes left in the game on a score by Frankie Broadhurst from 35 yards out and take a 35-13 lead. Although the Nighthawks answer right back with 2:42 left on Jack Hanson's run for a 35-19 game. From there the Indians defense would hold on for the victory. In the winning effort the Ravena season will contuine next week as they will travel to middletown for the final four and will take on the undefeated Pleasantville and the Nighthawks season comes to end at 10-1 Gallery

The game would start off good for the Nighthawks as they would score just three minutes into the game on a 33 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 6-0 lead. The Nighthawks would double there lead to 13-0 halfway through the quarter on a 28 yard pass to Riley Hebert . Then with two minutes left in the quarter the Nighthawks would strike again with a 25 yard pass to Keith Parent and take the 20-0 lead. There would be just one score in the second quarter as Jack Hanson would strike again for his second score on the day this time from nine yards out to take the 27-0 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Nighthawks office would stay hot. As they would a 25 yard feild goal to expand there lead to 30-0. Then in the closing minute of the quarter Zach O'Connell would hit Rocky Hebert for a 25 yard score and take the 37-0 lead. Then just four minutes into the fourth quarter the Nighthawks offense stays hot on a 13 yard pass to Keith Parent for his second score of the day and a 44-0 lead. Then with just about five minutes left in the game the Red Raiders would breakup the shutout with a big run play by Deshawn Walton and make it a 44-6. On the insuing defensive stand the Red Raiders would get a safety to make it 44-9 game. Then in the final couple minutes of the game the Red Raiders would get another running touchdown this time from Clifford Gay and make it a 44-16 and that is where the game would end. With the win the Nighthawks advance to the regional finals next weekend against Rivena and keep there undefeated season intact at 10-0 while the Massena Red Raiders season comes to a close at 5-5. It would be the classic rivalry inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B as the #1 Peru Nighthawks would meet up with the #2 Beekmantown Eagles as they decide who heads to the New York State Class B Football tournament and take on the upset minded Massena Red Raiders, The Nighthawks would get the scoring going in the first quarter with a 9 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 7-0 lead. Later in the quarter the Nighthawks and Jack Hanson would score again this time from 30 yards and take the 14-0 lead. They would end the quarter with there third score of the quarter this time to Keith Parent from 32 yards out and have a 21-0 lead to end the quarter. In the second quarter the Nighthawks would get another score this time a 17 yard pass to Jack Hanson for his third score of the game. When the teams came back from the locker rooms for the third quarter the Nighthawks would stay on the gas and expand there lead to 34-0 on Jack Hanson's four touchdown of the night. In the fourth quarter the Nighthawks would put the final nail in the coffin on the game as Jack Hanson would get his fifth score of the game this time from 3 yards out for the 41-0 lead. In the final minutes of the game the Eagles would get on the board to avoid the shutout on a 12 yard run by Louis Sweenor and they would get the 2 point conversion to make it a 41-8 game. That would end the game and the Peru Nighthawks would be get the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B 2022 title. Although with under four minutes left in the second quarter the Red Storm would take the 10-7 lead on a 4 yard run by Connor Hewitt. The Nighthawks although would get the ball back before the half would expire and drive down the field and take the 14-10 lead in the closing minute of the half on a 5 yard run by Jack Hanson. In the third quarter the Nighthawks offense would step up and take control of the game. They would get the scoring started just 1:17 into the quarter on a 28 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 21-10 lead. The just half way through the quarter the Nighthawks would strike again this time on a ten yard run by Landon Duprey and extend the lead to 27-10. Then with under two minutes left in the quarter the Nighthawks would strike again this time on a nine yard pass to Landon Duprey to take the 34-10 lead. In the fourth quarter defense would be the name of the game as there would be no scoring and the Nighthawks would get the 34-10 lead to finish the regular season at 8-0 while the Red Storm finish at 3-4. The playoffs will get under way next weekend with the Peru Nighthawks getting a bye and will play the winner of Beekmantown and Plattsburgh for the CVAC Class B title the following weekend. While the Red Storm will host the 2-5 Ausable Valley Patriots in the CVAC Class C Semifinals with the winner getting #21 Saranac Chiefs in the CVAC Class C Championship. Gallery
