The Northern Adirondack Bobcats would meet up with the Madrid Waddington Yellow Jackets in the first round of the New York State Class C basketball championships. The Bobcats would jump out to the quick 16-9 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Bobcats would extend there lead by winning the quarter 11-6 and have a 27-15 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the second half it would be more of the same as the Bobcats win the quarter 13-6 and have a 40-21 lead. In the fourth quarter the Bobcats would step back a bit and the Jackets would win the quarter 15-6. The Beekmantown Eagles pose for there team photo as they are crowned 2017 NYS North Division II Champions. The Beekmantown Eagles would meet up with the Salmon River Shamrocks in the NYS Division II Quarterfinals with the winner going to the final four. The game would remain scoreless until the 5:22 mark of the second period when Josh McCaulley would score for the Eagles to make it 1-0. The Shamrocks would tie the game up at 1 at the 11:35 mark of the second period. That is where the game would stay until the 2:22 mark of double when Beekmantown's Cade Collins would score the game-winner off the face-off for the 2-1 victory. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals pose for there team photo as they are crowned the 2017 ECAC West champions. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals host #2 Elmira Soaring Eagles in the championship of the ECAC West tournament. The game would remain scoreless until there was 3:15 left in the 1st period when Plattsburgh's Kayla Meneghain would score to make it 1-0. The game would stay there until 8:43 of the second period when Elimra would score to tie the game at one. The game would stay there until the 3:06 mak of the third period when Mellisa Sheeran would score on the power play to make it 2-1 and the Cardinals would hold on for the 2-1 victory. The #1 Ticonderoga Sentinels meet up with the #2 Northern Adirondack Bobcats in the Section 7 Class C Championship, The game would be tight through the first quarter as the teams would be tied at 11. In the second quarter, the game would remain tight as Ticonderoga wins the quarter 17-14 to have a 28-25 lead at the half. In the third quarter, The Bobcats would win it slightly 10-9 but still trail 37-35 heading to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, Ticonderoga would pull away and win the quarter 14-8 and get the 51-43 victory. Plattsburgh State's Travis Mauro (4) battles for the face-off win at midfield with the Castleton State centerman after a goal. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Castleton State Spartans in the season opener. The Cardinals would jump out to the 5-3 lead after the first quarter on goals from Billy Moller, Ryan Callahan (2), Jake Carroll, and Ryan Hubbard. In the second quarter, the Cardinal offense would step up and win the quarter 7-1 on goals from Ryan Callahan (2), Ryan Hubbard (4) and Ryan Ehli for the 12-4 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Spartans would do there best to make it a game and win the quarter 3-2 scoring for the Cardinals was Austin Belz and Brad Johnson and take a 14-7 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would put the finishing touches on the game with a 6-0 quarter with goals from Jake Carroll, Mike Gay, Austin Belz, Sean Alder, Logan Lamothe, and EJ Suris for the 20-7 victory. The Beekmantown Eagles pose for there team photo as they are crowned the 2017 sectional champion. The #1 Plattsburgh Hornets would face off in the Section VII D2 championship with the #4 Beekmantown Eagles at the Plattsburgh Fieldhouse. This would be a game between two very evenly matched and would be a defensive game and game where both goals would perform great. The lone goal of the game would come with 46 seconds left in the first period when Matthew Maggy would tip the shot by Nathan Herbert. That would be all that the Eagles would need as they would hold on for the 1-0 victory. The game would remain scoreless until the 1:09 mark of the second period when Mackenize Millen would score for the Cardinals to make it 1-0. The Cardinals would extend there lead to 2-0 on Melissa Sheeran's goal at 13:49. Then just 17 seconds later the Pioneers would score to keep it a one-goal game. The Cardinals would regain the two-goal lead at 3-1 on Erin Brand's powerplay goal. Then just 45 seconds later Erin Brand would score again on the power play to make it 4-1. Then at the 9:33 mark of the third period Cardinals, Melissa Sheeran would get her second goal of the night to make it 5-1. Then at 16:32 of the third period, Kayla Meghan would score to end the game at 6-1. This would be a tight game throughout the day and would eventually need two overtimes to decide it. The Cardinals would take the early 1-0 lead at 4:28 of the first on Pat Egan's goal. The Knights would answer back at the nine-minute mark to tie the game at 1. Then just 45 seconds into the second period the Knights would take the 2-1 lead. The game would stay there till 6:26 of the third period when the Cardinals would tie it at 2 on Kyle Hall's goal. The Cardinals would regain the lead at the 15-minute mark on Joe Drabin's goal at 3-2. Then just 30 seconds later Ross Sloan would score to extend the lead to 4-2. The Eagles would have upset on there mind early in the game as they would have an 11-5 lead after the first. In the second quarter, the Cougars would start to claw there way back wining the quarter 10-7 although the Eagles would have an 18-15 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the third the scoring would pick up and the Eagles would win the third quarter 16-13 and have a 34-28 lead head to the fourth. Although in the fourth the Cougars would have shutdown defense winning the quarter 12-4. With the Cougars would get the comeback victory at 40-38 and advance to the Class B Finals against the Plattsburgh Hornets. Gallery.
