Saranac's Samatha Myers (24) drives the basket and gets the contact on the layup and gets the foul for the three-point play attempt. It would be the first game of championship weekend for section vii basketball from Clinton Community College. It would feature the #3 Ausable Valley Patriots and the #1 Saranac Chiefs for the Class B Girls finals. The game would get off to a slow start for both teams as it would be just an 8-4 Chiefs lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the defenses would still be the name of the game as the Chiefs would win the quarter 9-2 and take the 17-6 lead at halftime. When the teams returned for the third quarter the offense would come out of the locker room with them although the Chiefs would still be on top with a 15-15 quarter and take a 32-21 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, it would be more of the same as the Chief's offense would be the name of the game with an 18-9 quarter. As the Saranac Chiefs would be crowned the 2023 Section VII Class B Girls Basketball champions with a 50-30 win and with the win they will advance to the New York State Public Athletic Association Tournament and will take on the Section X representative next weekend. The Saranac Chiefs are crowned the 2023 Section VII Girl's Basketball champions for the second year in a row with a 50-3 win over the Ausable Valley Patriots. It would be the first game of championship weekend for section vii basketball from Clinton Community College. It would feature the #3 Ausable Valley Patriots and the #1 Saranac Chiefs for the Class B Girls finals. Ausable Valley (3) rides up on the breakaway and lays it off the window for the score. It would be the semifinals of the Section VII Class B Girl's Basketball Tournament and it would feature the #3 Ausable Valley Patriots traveling to take on the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets for the right to head to next weekend's Section VII title game. The game would start off well for the upset-minded Patriots as they would have the 22-13 lead as they end the first half of the game. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Patriots would keep their hot hand going with a 13-7 quarter and take a 35-20 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Patriots would finish off the upset victory with an 11-8 quarter and get the 46-28 victory. With the win, the Ausable Valley Patriots advance to the Section VII Class B Finals and will take on the winner of the Saranac Chiefs and the Beekmantown Eagles at the Clinton Community College on March 3rd. The Hartford Tanagers have crowned the 2022 NYSPHSAA Class D Girl's Basketball Northern Regional champions. It would be the NYSPHSAA Class D Girl's Basketball regionals finals that would take place between the #3 Hartford Tanagers and the #6 Boquet Valley Griffins from Clinton Community College. The #3 Tanagers would get off to a good start and take an 18-12 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Tanagers would start to pull away from the Griffins with a 15-6 quarter and take a sizeable lead of 33-18 in the intermission. When the teams came back for the second half and third quarter the Griffins would start to find their game and would cut into the deficit with a 17-12 quarter and trail 45-35 as they head into the fourth quarter. In that fourth, it would not be without drama as the Griffins would get as close as four points but just not have the firepower down the stretch and have a 16-12 quarter and fall short 57-51. With the win, the Hartford Tanagers would punch their ticket to the NYSPHSAA Class D Girls Basketball final four next weekend at Hudson Valley Community College and the Boquet Valley Griffins season comes to an end with an 18-6 season and a top ten ranking in the state. The Beekmantown Eagles pose for there team photo as they are crowned the 2017 Northern Regional Champions. The #8 Beekmantown Eagles would meet up with the Glens Falls Indians in the Quarterfinals of the New York State Tournament. The Eagles jump out to a big lead at 22-5 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Indians would start to come back winning the quarter 13-10 although the Eagles would have the 32-18 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Eagles wouldn't let up and win the quarter 15-11 and have a 47-29 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Indians would do there best to try and comeback winning the quarter 27-19 although it wouldn't be enough as the Beekmantown Eagles hold on for 66-56 victory.
