Seton Catholic's Oliver Hughes (10) takes flight among the trees and gets over Saranac's Garrett Kiroy (32) as he would lay it off the window. It would be the opening game of the 2022 Clinton Community College Holiday Classic as the Saranac Chiefs would match up with the Seton Catholic NYSPHSAA Section VII action. The game would start off very well for the Chiefs as they would shut out the Knights in the opening quarter and have an 11-0 lead. In the second quarter, the Knights would get on the board and do their best to get back in the game as the Chiefs would lead the quarter by a slim 14-11 margin and take a 25-11 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Knights would put out a great effort but the early whole would be too much to overcome as they would win the quarter 15-13 but still trail 38-26 as they entered the fourth quarter. In the 4th quarter, the Chiefs would keep firing to keep their big lead with a 15-13 quarter to secure the 53-39 victory. In the winning effort, the Chiefs go to 3-5 on the season and will take on the Crown Point Panthers tomorrow (December 28th) for the Holiday Classic title as the Seton Catholic Knights fall to 2-4 on the season. Boquet Valley's Maddox Rice (21) rises up over Seton Catholic's Ashton Guay for the score. It would be the season opener for the Seton Catholic Knights as they would host the Boquet Valley Griffins in Mountain Valley Athletic Conference action. The first quarter would not go the way of the Knights as they were still feeling stuff out in the opener and would trail 13-2 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Knights would come alive and make a game of it with a 13-4 quarter and trail by a slim 17-15 at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Griffins would find their game again, take the quarter 13-8 and the 30-23 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the defenses would step up and the Griffins would win the quarter by a slim 9-8 and secure the 39-31 victory. In the winning effort, the Griffins will stay perfect in the early season at 2-0 while the Knights fall to 1-1. Gallery
