When the teams would come back for the third quarter the Patriots would finally get on the board on a 63-yard pass to Louie Perez although they would miss the extra point and the Hornets would keep a 7-6 advantage. The game would stay there till the final three minutes of the game when the Hornets would expand there lead to 14-6 on a four-yard run by Lestyn Williams and secure the victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 2-0 while the Patriots fall to 0-2 on the season.
