Plattsburgh State's Mitchell Hale (26) carries the puck into the zone and start the attack. It would be the season opener and start of a new era for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would host the Brockport State Golden Eagles in the season opener and first game with Steve Moffitt behind the bench. The game would be scoreless through the first period and the Eagles would get the first goal by Doc Gentzler at 1:14 of the second period on the power play. The Cardinals would respond back and tie the game at one about five minutes later on the Matt Araujo goal. Although not even a minute later the Cardinals would regain the one goal lead on the Ethan Solat goal. Then the Eagles would extend there lead to 3-1 at the 10:40 mark of the second period on the goal by Mitchell Parson. That would be the last of the scoring on the night and the Cardinals would fall 3-1 in the first game of the season.
