It would be a battle of the top ten teams in the nation as the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #8 Geneseo State Knights in SUNYAC play in front of 1400 fans. The Cardinals would get off to a quick start just 58 seconds into the game on the Tio D'Addario goal for the 1-0 lead. The Cardinals would expand their lead to a 2-0 lead on the shorthanded goal by Joshua Belgrave. The Cardinals would finish off their three-goal period with 15 seconds left on the Kevin Weaver Vitale goal. The game would stay there until the 12-minute mark of the second period when the Cardinals Bennett Stockdale would light the lamp and take the 4-0 lead. Although two minutes later the Knights would strike twice within a minute to cut the lead in half at 4-2 on the Mitch Machlitt and Teddy Purcell goals. Then with 2:15 left in the period the Cardinals would regain their two goal when Bennett Stockdale would get his second goal of the game. The game would stay there till about there was 3:30 left in the game when the Cardinals would get the empty netter on Joshua Belgrave's second goal of the game to secure the 6-2 win. In the winning effort, Jacob Hearne would make 30 saves as the Cardinals went to 4-0 and the Knights fell to 4-1.
