Plattsburgh's Natatalie Kay (4) with the poke check on Beekmantown's Leah Columombe (15) to break up the play. The Beekmantown Lady Eagles ice hockey team earned a 3-1 win at Chazy’s Scotts’ Rink Friday against the Lady Hornets of Plattsburgh High School. Beekmantown scored once in each period and outshot the visitors 36-27 on the night. A back-and-forth first period ended 1-0 in favor of the home team after Hailey Letoruneau hit the top corner with a slap shot from the left point after a pass from Celine Juneau. Playing with the lead, the Eagles applied offensive pressure for much of the second period and doubled their lead midway through the frame as Makenna Bell capitalized on a rebound off a Leah Coulombe shot to jam the puck between the post and the left pad of goaltender Ava Julian. The third period saw the Plattsburgh offense start to click, but it was Beekmantown who scored again, as Brooke Ruest’s feed from behind the goal line set up Bailey Carter for the tap-in goal. The Hornets pulled one back with a Gillian Boule goal midway through the period, but that would be the end of scoring for the game. Julian made 33 saves in net for the Hornets, which Beekmantown’s Brianne Knight stopped 26 en route to the win. Gallery.
