We would have a special edition tonight as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference JV action. The home Hornets would get off to a quick start as they would score in the third minute of the game from Luca Meyers and take the 1-0 lead. Then in the tenth minute the Hornets would extend there lead to 2-0 as Luca Meyers would strike again. In the 16th minute the Nighthawks would cut the lead in half and make it a one goal game again on the goal from Collin Powers. Then in the 34th minute the Hornets would regain the two goal lead on the hat trick goal from Luca Meyers. In the winning effort the Hornets head to 4-1 while the Nighthawks fall to 3-1-1 on the early season. Gallery

Peru's netminder with the fingertip save on the shot that was head to the far corner. It would be home opener for last years defending New York State class C Champions as they would host neighbor the Peru Nighthawks in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action. The game would start off good for the Patriots as they would get six goals in the first half from Kate Knapp, Sara Richards, Kaydence Hoehn (twice), Addie Stanley, and Jillian Beizo. In the second half it would be more of the same as they would add another four goals from Lilley Keyser, Kaydence Hoehn (third and fourth of the night) and Addie Stanley (second of the night) to finish of the Nighthawks. In the winning effort the Patriots go to 1-1 on the season while Nighthawks go to 0-3 on the early season. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 1 Beekmantown Eagles @ Peru Nighthawks September 9th 2022

Beekmentown's Nathan Parliament (9) with the stiff arm on Peru's Preston Daniels (2) as they head towards the sidelines and the first down. It would be the opening week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and it would start with the classic rivalry as the Peru Nighthawks would meet up with the Beekmantown Eagles. The game would start off good for the Nighthawks as they would get the opening score of the game at the 2:40 mark on a 12 pass to Zach Hunter for the 8-0 lead. Then just two minutes later the Nighthawks would strike again on a 58 yard run from Jack Hanson to extend the Peru lead to 16-0. The Eagles would get on the board in the closing seconds of the quarter on a 4 yard run from Parker Broughton to make it a 16-7 game at the end of the first quarter. Then at the 3:17 mark of the second quarter the Nighthawks would regain there two touchdown lead on a 13 yard pass to Landon Duprey to make it a 22-7 game. Then just about half way through the quarter the Eagles would strike again on a 1 yard run by Parker Broughton to make it a 22-14 game at the intermission. The Eagles would make it a 2 point game half way through the third quarter on a 8 yard pass to Evan Dixon at 22-20. With just over three minutes left in the third quarter Zach O'Connell would escape for a 36 yard run and the Nighthawks would go up 28-20. Then with under three minutes left in the game the Nighthawks would finish off the game on a 4 yard run by Jack Hanson would close out the game at 34-20. In the winning effort the Nighthawks go to 2-0 on the early season as they head to Plattsburgh next weekend against the Hornets. Dominic Falvo with the goal off the penalty kick for his third of the night and retake the Nighthawks lead. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference game between the visiting Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the home Peru Nighthawks from the Apple Bowl. The Nighthawks would take the early 2-0 lead on the Cougars in the first 12 minutes on two goals from Dominic Falvo. The Cougars would cut the lead in half on the the Wells goal and make it 2-1 in the 13th minute. In the early stages of the second half on a goal by Simpson the Cougars would tie the game at two. The Nighthawks would regain the lead on Dominic Falvo's third goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 58th minute. The Nighthawks would be able to regain there two goal lead at 4-2 on a goal from Seanan Edwards in the 61st minute.Then just in the next minute the Cougars would make it a one goal game again down the stretch from Brown. Although from there Nighthawks defense would be up to the task and the Nighthawks would hold on for the win and go to 4-0 on the season while the Cougars fall to 2-2 on the season. Gallery

Malone's (10) with the arm tackle to bring Peru's Jack Hanson down from behind. It would be the opening weekend of the high school football season and the Peru Nighthawks would host Section X's Malone Huskies in non conference action. The Nighthawks would get off to a quick start with a 8 yard pass to Landon Duprey 3:40 into the game for the 6-0 lead. Then just over three minutes later the Nighthawks would strike again to make it a 13-0 lead on a 22 yard pass to Rocky Hebert. Then in the second quarter the Nighthawks would open up the flood gates and strike four times to take a 40-0 lead into the break on scores from Jack Hanson, Landon Duprey, Rocky Hebert, and Jack Hayes. When the teams back for the second half there would be no let up as they would get another two scores to take a 53-0 lead on scores from Landon Duprey (third of the game), and Zach Hunter. In the fourth quarter the Nighthawks would get one more to secure the 60-0 victory on a 38 yard pass to Preston Daniels. With the win the Nighthawks will start there season 1-0 as they will welcome in the Beekmantown Eagles next week to get there conference season underway.

Peru's goalie with the save on the long distance shot on net. It would be the start of the high school girl's soccer season with the Jan Davis Memorial Tournament at Chazy High School as the Plattsburgh Hornets would take on the Peru Nighthawks. The game would start great for the Nighthawks as they would strike twice in the first with goals from Duprey and Phillips for the 2-0 lead at the intermission. The second half would start off the same way for the Nighthawks as in the 46th minute Duprey would get her second of the game to make it a 3-0 Nighthawks. Then in the 54th minute the Hornets would get on the board with a Amaya Abellard goal to make it 3-1. Then just six minutes later Abellard would strike again and make it 3-2 with 20 minutes left in the game. Then with just just over eight minutes left in the game the Hornets would strike again from Abellard to tie the game at three and finish off her hat trick. Then inside the final minute of the game Bailey Hewson would strike to give the Plattsburgh Hornets the 4-3 victory and advance to the championship against Chazy. Gallery
