Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Class B Playoffs: #3 Plattsburgh Hornets @ #2 Beekmantown Eagles October 28th 2022

It would be the semifinals of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Football playoffs and #3 Plattsburgh Hornets would head to Beekmantown and take on the number #2 Eagles with the winner getting a matchup with the undefeated Peru Nighthawks next week in the Class B finals. The game would start off good for the home Eagles as they would get the first score 6:45 into the first quarter on a seven yard run from Louis Sweenor for the 7-0 lead. Although the Hornets would answer right back on a 61 yard break out run by Trenton Griffiths just a minute later and tie the game at seven. Then with just over two minutes left in the game the Eagles would retake the lead on a seventeen yard run by Louis Sweenor for his second of the game. Although the Hornets were not going to go away easy as they march right back down field and tie the game up again at 14 on a one yard run by Trenton Griffiths. The Eagles would take the lead for the third time on a fifteen yard run by Louis Sweenor for his third score of the half with 3:15 left in the half. Then in the closing minute of the half the Eagles would double there lead at 28-14 on the six yard run by Connor Barber. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Hornets would score three minutes into make it a one score game again on Michael Phillips three yard run. Then at halfway mark of the third quarter the Eagles would make it a two score game again on Connor Baber's second score of the game and a 34-20 game. Then with four minutes left in the quarter the Eagles would score again on Louis Sweenor's fourth of the game and make it a 41-20 game. In the closing minute of the third quarter the Hornets would score on a touchdown pass to Riguelson Filosca and make it a 41-28 game. Although just two minutes into the fourth quarter the Eagles would score again to put the game out of reach on the 4 yard sneak from Nathan Parliment and make it 48-28 game. Then with three minutes left in the game the Eagles would put the icing on the cake with a three yard run by Oliver Lacombe to secure the 55-28 victory. In the winning effort the Eagles go to 5-3 on the season and will play the Peru Nighthawks for the Section VII Class B title on November 5th while the Plattsburgh Hornets season comes to end at 1-8. Beekmantown's Patrick Hagadorn (81) with the catch along the sidelines although Saranac's Senastian Dandrow-Pellerin (12) would push him out for the incompletion. It would be the fourth week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference in what would be the game of the week as the Saranac Chiefs hosting the Beekmantown Eagles. It would be a game that would defense driven as both teams were not breaking on the field. There would be no scoring through the first quarter. The Chiefs would get on the board with 4:30 left in the half on a 34 yard feild goal by Nathan Hamel and take a 3-0 lead. Then lead would be short lived as the Eagles would strike on there next drive with a 41 yard touchdown pass to Peyton Viau for the 7-3 lead and thats where the game would stay till the half. Although the Chiefs would come out of the locker room and answer just 1:47 into the third quarter to take a 10-7 lead on a 4 yard run by Nathan Hamel. Then at the five minute mark of the third quarter the Hamel would strike again this time from 57 yards for a 17-7 lead. Then on the Eagles next drive they would get it back to a one score game on a 5 yard run by Nathan Parliment to make it a 17-14 game. From there the defenses on both side would step up and game would end there with the Chiefs getting the win to go to 4-1 while the Eagles fall to 1-4 on the season. Gallery

It would be the opening week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and it would start with the classic rivalry as the Peru Nighthawks would meet up with the Beekmantown Eagles. The game would start off good for the Nighthawks as they would get the opening score of the game at the 2:40 mark on a 12 pass to Zach Hunter for the 8-0 lead. Then just two minutes later the Nighthawks would strike again on a 58 yard run from Jack Hanson to extend the Peru lead to 16-0. The Eagles would get on the board in the closing seconds of the quarter on a 4 yard run from Parker Broughton to make it a 16-7 game at the end of the first quarter. Then at the 3:17 mark of the second quarter the Nighthawks would regain there two touchdown lead on a 13 yard pass to Landon Duprey to make it a 22-7 game. Then just about half way through the quarter the Eagles would strike again on a 1 yard run by Parker Broughton to make it a 22-14 game at the intermission. The Eagles would make it a 2 point game half way through the third quarter on a 8 yard pass to Evan Dixon at 22-20. With just over three minutes left in the third quarter Zach O'Connell would escape for a 36 yard run and the Nighthawks would go up 28-20. Then with under three minutes left in the game the Nighthawks would finish off the game on a 4 yard run by Jack Hanson would close out the game at 34-20. In the winning effort the Nighthawks go to 2-0 on the early season as they head to Plattsburgh next weekend against the Hornets. #3 Saranac Chiefs @ #2 Beekmentown Eagles Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Class C Semi-finals October 29th 2021

Beekmantown's Keith Parent (31) with the leaping catch over Saranac's defender along the sidelines. It would be the semi-finals of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class C playoffs as the #2 Beekmantown Eagles would host the #3 Saranac Chiefs for the right to go to the championship and take on the #1 Saranac Lake Red Storm. In a game that would be moving at a very quick pace, the Eagles would get the opening score of the game at the 6:05 mark when Andrew Vannatten would break a 93 yard run for the score and take a 6-0 Eagles lead. The game would stay there till the 7:13 mark of the second quarter when Hunter Devins would strike from three yards out and give the Chiefs the 7-6 lead. Although the Eagles would regain the lead with 11 seconds left in the half on the 47 strikes to Keith Parent to give the Eagles the 12-7. Although the Chiefs would strike on their first play of the ensuing drive on a 38-yard pass to Hunter Devins as time expired to take the 13-12. The only score of the third quarter would come on a crazy play as Beekmentown's Carter Duccatte that had an interception in the endzone and ran out of the endzone but went back in and took a knee making it safety and giving the Chiefs 2 points and a 15-12 lead. The Chiefs would be able to expand their lead to 2 scores on Hunter Devins's third score of the game at the 5:44 mark on a 1-yard run to make it a 21-12 game. Then at the 8:12 mark of the quarter, the Eagles would hit Keith Parent again for his second score of the game on a 30-yard pass to make it a 21-18 game. Although with 1:32 left in the game the Chiefs would put the icing on the game as Hunter Devins would strike for the fourth time this time from 36 yards to make it a 28-18 game and give the Chiefs the win. In the winning effort, the Chiefs go to 2-6 on the season and will play the Saranac Lake Red Storm for the Class C title while the Beekmantown Eagles season comes to an end at 2-6. Gallery

It would take long for the first score of the game as the Nighthawks would score in the first minute of a 57-yard quarterback keeper as Zach O'Connell would keep it for the score and 7-0 lead. It would only be a minute and a half later and the Nighthawks would double up their lead on a 17-yard pass to Keegan Smith to make it 14-0. The game would stay there till there were four minutes left in the half when the Eagles would cut the deficit in half at 14-7 on the 30-yard pass to Peyton Viau. Although the Nighthawks wouldn't want to be outdone as they would score in the closing seconds of the half as Keegan Smith would get his second score of the game to make it 21-7 at the half. In the second half, both of the defenses would step up their games and there would be just one score. As Peru's Keegan Smith would get his third score of the game this time on the ground for 8 yards and secure the 28-7 victory. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks go to 5-1 and will finish off their season at Saranac Lake next week. While the Eagles fall to 1-5 on the season and finish of there season next week against Ticonderoga.
