PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Clinton Community College made its home debut of the 2026 season on Saturday after opening the year with three consecutive road games, but visiting Genesee Community College spoiled the occasion with an 8-0 victory at the Plattsburgh State Field House. The Cougars wasted little time taking control. George Falzon opened the scoring in the 10th minute to give Genesee a 1-0 lead. Just one minute later, Rafael Alburquerque doubled the advantage, putting the visitors ahead 2-0. Alburquerque struck again in the 21st minute for his second goal of the contest, extending the lead to 3-0. Genesee continued its offensive surge only a minute later when Finn Hansford found the back of the net, making it a 4-0 match. The Cougars kept the pressure on throughout the first half. Falzon added another goal to complete his hat trick and stretch the lead to 5-0. Antoni Walas then joined the scoring attack in the 35th minute, giving Genesee a commanding 6-0 advantage heading into halftime. Genesee showed no signs of slowing down after the break. Alexander Stassen scored early in the second half to make it 7-0, and Jacob Pollard added another tally in the 58th minute to push the lead to 8-0. With the score remaining heavily in favor of the Cougars, the mercy rule was invoked in the 70th minute, bringing the match to an early conclusion. The victory improved Genesee's record to 3-0-1. The Cougars will return to action tomorrow when they face Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Clinton fell to 1-2 on the season and will look to bounce back Wednesday evening when the Cougars travel to Jefferson Community College. Gallery

It would be a battle of North Country rivals from theFlorencee Center as the Clinton Community College Cougars would host the #11 NorthCountryy Community College in NJCAA Region 3 basketball as we are nearing the end of the season. The Cougars would be fighting an uphill battle the whole way through. They would do their best to stay with them early, but the Saints would start to pull away and lead 41-29 at halftime. When the teams returned, the Saints were off to the races, as they led 45-23 at halftime and secured an86-52 victory. The game would be called with around 4 minutes left after a fight broke out in the stands, and with the game in hand, the officials figured that was enough for the night. The Clinton Community College Cougars would host the Finger Lakes Community College Lakers at the Forrence Center as they finished off a week in which they played 4 games, 3 of them at home. It would be a game of runs throughout the first half as the Cougars would have as big a lead as ten, and then the Lakers would come back to take the lead by 6, and when the first half ended, it would be Clinton 41-37 as they looked for their second straight win. When the teams returned for the second, the Cougars would look to take control of the game, going up big. Still, the Lakers would keep fighting back,k and with 5 minutes left, they would have a 5-point lead, and the Cougars couldn't make it up as the Lakers would get the 80-77 victory. In the winning effort, the Lakers would go to 2-12 on the season. As for the Cougars, they would go to 4-10 while Jeffrey Weeks would have a 30-point night. Hudson Valley's Kemontae Thawe (2) drives the lane for the score as part of a 19-point game in the 82-77 win. The Clinton Community College would return home to start the 2026 portion of their season as they would take on the Hudson Valley Community College Vikings in NJCAA Region III action. It would be a game of runs, but the Vikings would always seem to have just a little more or just a little better run, and they would have the 43-33 lead after the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, it would be more of the same. Still, the Cougars would have their chances, getting within a couple of points at different times. Still, mental mistakes down the stretch would cost the Cougars, as they would win the half 44-39 but fall 82-7. In the losing effort for the Cougars, they were led by Jeffrey Collins Weeks III, who went to 3-8 on the season. As for the Hudson Valley Community College Vikings, Julius Reed led the way with 33 points as they improved to 6-8 in the season.
