It would be Championship Sunday from Buffalo as it would be an all–Section I NYSPHSAA Boys Hockey Championship, with the #2 Byram Hills Bobcats facing off against the #3 Rye Garnets. The Bobcats opened the scoring at the 4:51 mark of the first period on a goal from Christian Cipriano. The Garnets answered back at 8:14 when Jamie Morris scored to tie the game at one. Just over two minutes later, the Garnets took a 2–1 lead on a goal by Ryan Draddy. Then, with 55 seconds left in the first period, the Garnets extended their lead to 3–1 on a goal from Colin Nigro, and that’s how the period would end. In the second period, Will Weinman scored at the 12:05 mark to make it a 4–1 Garnets lead on the lone goal of the frame. In the third period, the Garnets put the icing on the cake with Ryan Draddy’s second goal of the game at the 12:43 mark for a 5–1 advantage. In the winning effort for the Garnets, Fernando Mosquera made 17 saves as they captured the state title. As for the Bobcats, Lucas Guggenheimer was impressive in his own right, making 63 saves. Beekmantown's Mason Carter (12) wrist it by the Byram Hills netminder to make it 2-0 Eagles game at the time, but they would eventually fall 5-2. It would be the first of two semifinals in the NYSPHSAA Division II Boys' Hockey Championships, featuring the #2 Bryam Hills Bobcats from Section I and the #4 Beekmantown Eagles from Section VII. The Eagles would jump out to a 1-0 lead just 3:03 into the game on a Pryce Parker goal. The Eagles would keep it going and make it a 2-0 game on the Mason Carter goal at the 8:50 mark of the first period. The Bobcats would answer right back, though, and make it a 2-1 game 49 seconds later on the Andrey Pytel goal, and that's how the first period would come to an end. The game would stay there until the 14:23 mark of the second period, when the Bobcats would tie the game at two on an Andrew Tymus goal, the lone goal of the second period. The Bobcats would get their first lead of the game at the 8:58 mark of the third period on Kai Licznerski's power play goal to make it a 3-2 game. The Bobcats would add a couple of empty netters down the stretch to secure the 5-2 victory and a spot in tomorrow's championship game. Gallery
