The first game would be close throughout the Padres would win 6-3 in nine innings. The Cardinals would get the early 1-0 lead in the second. Then the Padres would answer back with two in the third. Then the Cardinals would get 1 in the 4th to tie the game two. The two teams would trade runs in the 5th to make it 3-3. That's where the game would remain until the ninth when the Padres would open up the offense and the cardinals would have costly miscues and score three runs and get the 6-3 victory.
