The Seton Catholic Knights celebrate their overtime 2-1 win against Lake Placid. The Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys soccer season continued Wednesday afternoon with a competitive matchup between the Seton Catholic Knights and the Lake Placid Blue Bombers. Entering the contest, Lake Placid carried a 4-3 record, while Seton Catholic was looking to improve on its 1-4 start. The Blue Bombers struck first and controlled much of the opening half. In the 20th minute, Black found the back of the net to give Lake Placid a 1-0 advantage. The goal stood as the lone score of the first half, sending the Blue Bombers into the break with the lead. Seton Catholic came out determined in the second half and kept the pressure on through the rest of regulation. The Knights generated several quality scoring chances but couldn't break through until late in the match. Their persistence finally paid off in the 75th minute when Matthew Dubay scored the equalizer, bringing the home crowd to its feet and knotting the contest at 1-1. With neither side finding another goal before the final whistle, the game moved into overtime. The Knights carried their momentum into the extra period and completed the comeback in dramatic fashion. In the 82nd minute, Noah Heins scored the game-winning goal, lifting Seton Catholic to a 2-1 overtime victory. The win improves the Knights' record to 2-4 as they prepare for a September 25 matchup against Northern Adirondack. Meanwhile, Lake Placid falls to 4-4 and will look to bounce back when the Blue Bombers take on rival Saranac Lake on September 25. For Seton Catholic, the win could spark the season, while Lake Placid will aim to regroup ahead of one of the most anticipated rivalry matches on its schedule. Gallery
