It would be a Section VII Class A Girls' Basketball playoff tilt from Beekmantown High School as the #2 Beekmantown Eagles would host the #3 Plattsburgh Hornets for the right to play for a sectional title against #1 Peru Nighthawks at Clinton Community College next weekend. The game would start well for the upset-minded Hornets, who jumped out to a 13-0 lead, but the Eagles would chip away, and the Hornets would have a 17-13 lead at the end of the quarter. The Eagles would keep coming in the second quarter and send the game to the intermission tied at 22 on a 9-5 quarter. When the teams returned for the third quarter, defense would be the name of the game, as the Eagles would take a 29-27 lead into the fourth quarter thanks to a 7-5 quarter. In the fourth quarter, the game would stay tight, and Ava Weiss for the Hornets would hit a three-pointer in the closing seconds to send the game to overtime tied at 33. In the end, the home Eagles would take control in the fourth quarter and get the 43-36 victory. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles go to 9-11 and will advance to the Section VII Class A finals against the Peru Nighthawks on the last game of championship weekend. Gallery
