Plattsburgh State's Caitlin Nash (23) charges down the center of the zone and fires the shot on net. The Plattsburgh State Women's Lacrosse team would be back in action at the Field House as they would host #19 in the country and fellow SUNYAC foe the Cortland State Red Dragons as they would try to end their four-game losing streak. Although the game would not start off the greatest for the Cardinals as they would behind 4-1 after the first quarter getting the lone goal for the Cardinals would be Lindsay Guzzetta while Hopsicker, Janis Hoffner, and Beck would score for the Red Dragons. In the second quarter, the Red Dragons would show their strength as they would score six times for the 6-1 quarter and the Cardinals would trail 10-2 at the intermission as Kate Kennedy would get the lone Cardinal goal of the quarter. When the teams returned for the second half it would be more of the same as the Red Dragons would have another 6-1 quarter and take a 16-3 lead into the 4th quarter as Lindsay Guzzetta would get her second goal of the game. In the 4th quarter with the game no longer in doubt, the teams would play it out for the Red Dragons 3-2 scoring for the Cardinals would be Lindsay Guzzetta (a third of the game) and Cynthia Barnosky. With that, the Cardinals would lose 19-5 and fall to 5-6 on the season as their next game will be this weekend as they travel to Oswego and take on the Lakers in SUNYAC action. Gallery

We would have a little Non-Conference men's lacrosse action as Plattsburgh State from the SUNYAC would host the unbeaten Clarkson Golden Knights from the Liberty League from the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse Soccer Complex. The first quarter would start off well for the Cardinals as they would stay in contact with the Golden Knights and only trail 3-2 after the quarter scoring for the Cardinals would be Michael Swift and John Eiseman. At the same time, it would be Andrew Kearney, Connor Matthews, and Thomas Fiebich for the Golden Knights. Although in the second quarter, the Golden Knights would pull away with a 5-1 quarter on goals from Tyler Hall, Christian Canino, Bryan Penney, Alex Seiler, and Matt Reilly while getting the lone goal for the Cardinals would be John Eiseman (second of the game) to give the Golden Knights 8-3 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would be no better for the Cardinals as they would get shutout 5-0 with Golden Knights goals from Matt Reilly (second of the game), Connor Matthews (second and third of the game), Logan Wilkinson and Alex Seiler (second of the game) as the Golden Knights would have the 13-3 lead as they enter the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter with the outcome already determined the Cardinals would get the two lone goals of the quarter both coming from Owen Lorenzetti as the Golden Knights would get the 13-5 win. In the winning effort, the Golden Knights would stay undefeated at 7-0 as the Golden Knights netminders would combine for ten saves on the day. The Cardinals would lose and fall to 2-5 on the season and Dan Clements would make 14 saves. Plattsburgh State's Sara Krauseneck charges down on the goalie and wrist it over the shoulder to give the Cardinals the 2-0 win. It would be the championship game of the Northeast Women's Hockey League and it would feature the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals hosting the #2 Cortland State Red Dragons for the right to go to the NCAA Tournament in front of a crowd of over 600 fans. It would be a tight and physical game through the first period and neither team would be able to turn the red lamp on and they would end the opening 20 where they started tied at zero. The Cardinals would finally get the opening goal of the game 2:23 into the second period when Ciara Wall would score on the rebound and give the Cardinals the 1-0 lead and that is where the game would remain for the rest of the period. Then on the powerplay, just 4:02 into the third Sara Krauseneck would score as she rushed the net to give the Cardinals the 2-0 lead. From there the Cardinal's defense would stand tall and hold on for the victory as they would only give up 16 shots in the game. In the winning effort, Ashley Davis would stand tall for another shutout as the Cardinals would capture their fifth straight NEWHL title and will wait and see if they get the overall number one seed in the tournament when the brackets are relieved Sunday evening. As for the Cortland Stand Red Dragons, their season will come to end at a record of 20-7. Gallery

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals have been crowned the 2023 NEWHL Champions for the fifth straight season. It would be the championship game of the Northeast Women's Hockey League and it would feature the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals hosting the #2 Cortland State Red Dragons for the right to go to the NCAA Tournament in front of a crowd of over 600 fans. It would be the semi-finals on the SUNYAC Playoffs from the sold-out Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #3 Geneseo State Knights for the right to head to the conference finals. The game would start off well for the home Cardinals as they would get the opening goal of the game at the 9:52 mark of the first period on the Bennett Stockdale for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there all the way till the 9:45 mark of the second period when Brendan Young would score for the Cardinals and give them the 2-0 lead. The two-goal lead would be short-lived though as the Knights would get on the board two minutes later on the Domenic Garozzo goal and make it a 2-1 game. The game would stay there till the 4:32 mark of the third period when Luk Jirousek would light the lamp for the 3-1 game. Then with just over six minutes left in the game, Jake Lanyi would score for the Cardinals and make it a 4-1 lead. The Cardinals would add one more with just over thirty seconds left in the game when Carson Gallagher would get the empty netter for the 5-1 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinals will advance to the SUNYAC championship and take on the top-seeded Oswego State Lakers for the conference's auto bid to the NCAA Tournament. Gallery

It would be the semi-finals of the Northeast Womens Hockey League and the top-seeded Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be hosting the four-seeded Canton Kangaroos at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of 475 fans. The Cardinals would open up the scoring just 4:47 into the game on the Mae Olshansky goal. Then around the 12:30 mark of the period the Cardinals would get two goals in under a minute from Sara Krauseneck and Holly Schmelzer for the 3-0 lead after the first period. The game would stay there till the 12:05 mark of the second period when Lily Stumm would score to extend the Cardinal's lead to 4-0. Although just over two minutes later the Kangaroos would get on the board to break up the shutout and make it a three-goal game again on the Mathilde Couture goal at 4-1. Then with just over 90 seconds left in the period the Cardinals would regain the four-goal lead at 5-1 on the Su An Cho goal. In the third period, the Cardinals would put the icing on the cake as they would get a pair of goals from Bridget Orr and Sierra Benjamin for the 7-1 victory. In the winning effort, Ashley Davis would make 17 saves as they go to 24-2. With the win, the Cardinals will host the NEWHL Championship next weekend against the winner of Cortland State and Oswego State on March 4th. Gallery
