Plattsburgh Cardinals (21) slides in safe on the stolen base as the ball would skip passing Lyon Mountain Miner's shortstop. The Cardinals would jump out to an early 5-0 lead after the first two innings that they would never give up. They would get one in the first inning and then put up a four-spot in the second inning. The Miners would chip away at the lead by getting two in the third and fourth inning. The score would remain that until the seventh when the Cardinals would get an insurance run on a sacrifice fly to take the lead 6-4. The Cardinals would hold that lead for the rest of the game and take game 1 of the best of three series. They will look to close out the championship next weekend at Bailey Avenue. Gallery

Airborne Speedway Padres Shane Perrotte (2) with the headfirst slide at plate under the legs of Steve Burris (23) to score on the wild pitch. The Padres would continue there losing streak which is now up to eight games with another couple of heartbreaking losses as in game one they would lose 9-6 after giving up a 8 run inning in the 6th inning. Then in game two they would come up one run short again with a 5-4 defeat in a game that saw them behind 5-0 heading into the 6th they would get two runs in the 6th and another two runs in the seventh and had the game-tying run on base. Airborne Speedway Padres Jeffrey Norton (8) tags out the leaping attempt by the Cardinals to score in the late innings of game one. It was opening day in the Champlain Valley Baseball League (CVBL). As the Airborne Speedway Padres would host the Plattsburgh Cardinals in a doubleheader at Saranac High School. The opening game would be a great game that saw the Cardinals score three runs in the sixth to tie the game and forces extra innings. In the extra innings the Cardinals would get one in the top of the eighth then bottom of the innings the Padres would load the bases with no outs and then Cardinals would get a strikeout and then a double play online drive that was tattooed back up the middle as the Cardinals hold on to the 4-3 win. In the second game the Cardinals would get one in the second as that would be all the needed as they go on for the 4-0 shut out victory. With the opening weekend in the books the Padres fall to 0-2 on the season and the Cardinals have the early lead at 2-0. Gallery

Airborne Speedway/Hockey Plus Padres Matt Rivers (88) connects on the pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning for the walk-off grand slam as the Padres beat the Plattsburgh Cardinals 4-1. In-game two of the doubleheader the Padres get 1 in the first Cardinals would come back in the second to tie it at one. Then throughout the next few innings the Padres would add to there lead to complete the sweep of the Cardinals with a 6-2 win. With the sweep, the Padres move back 500 at 6-6 as they host the Fourth Ward Timberjaxxs. As the Plattsburgh Cardinals fall to 8-4 as they host the Lyon Mountain Miners in a very important doubleheader at the top of standings. Gallery

Both games of the doubleheader would be scoreless until the late innings. In the first game, the Cardinals would get two in the fifth and four in the sixth as they would get the 8-1 win. In the second game, the Cardinals would get three in the fifth inning to get the 3-0 win and sweep the Padres. With the sweep the Cardinals will remain on top in standings at 4-0 and the Padres will fall to 0-4. Gallery
