NYSPHSAA Northern Regional Class D Girl's Basketball Championship: #6 Chateaugay Bulldogs Vs #9 Schroon Lake Wildcats March 1st 2025

Chateaugay's Irelynn Laplante (12) takes flight on the breakaway score for two of her 16 points on the afternoon. It would be regional finals day from the Clinton Community College with a ticket to the final four on the line, starting with the Class D Girls. It would see the #6 Chateaugay Bulldogs from Section X taking on the # 9 Schroon Lake Wildcats from Section VII. The game would start quickly, but it would be good for the visiting Bulldogs as they would jump out to an 11-lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs would use their quick shooting to jump on, take control of the game with a 16-5 quarter, and take the 33-16 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Bulldogs would keep up their tight defense, have another good quarter at 10-5, and take the 43-21 lead into the final quarter. With the outcome of the game well out of doubt, the coaches would put the benches in for the fourth quarter, and the Bulldogs would win the low-scoring quarter at 6-3 as they would secure the 49-24 victory. In the winning effort for the Chateaugay Bulldogs, they will punch their ticket to the final four and get the winner of LaFragville and South Knighton at Hudson Valley Community College. In the win for the Bulldogs, Madison McComb and Irelynn Laplante each had 16 points as they went to 24-1 in the season. As for the Schroon Lake Wildcats' season, it would end at 14-8, while Olivia Hartwell would lead the team with 13 points. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Champions Challenge Girl's Basketball: #11 Saranac Spartans Vs #12 Peru Nighthawks March 5th 2025

Peru's Madi Marino (3) with the the three from the top of the key as part of a two point night. After over a 15 year hituas it would be the return of the Section VII Champions and on the first night it would be the girl's taking center stage and the second game of the day would see a battle inside the top 15 as it would be the #11 Saranac Spartans from Class B taking on #12 Peru Nighthawks from Class A. The Spartans would start by taking control of the game in the first quarter as they would have a 13-5 lead on the Nighthawks after the first eight minutes. The second quarter would be more evenly matched as the Nighthawks would win slightly with a 14-13 quarter, but the Spartans would have the 26-19 lead at the break. When the teams returned for the second half, the Spartans found their groove again, had a 12-8 quarter, and took the 38-27 lead into the final stanza. In the fourth and final quarter, the Spartans would put the closing marks on the game with a 12-7 quarter and secure the 50-34 victory. In the winning effort for the Spartans, Breanna Ducatte would lead the way with 18 points as they go to 16-3 on the season, enter the New York State tournament, and play the Section II champion on March 12th. As for the Peru Nighthawks, they will fall to 17-4 on the season as Reese Duprey would lead the way with 18, and they are also headed to the New York State tournament and will play the winner from Section II. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball Champions Challenge: #9 Moriah Vikings Vs #11 Schroon Lake Wildcats March 5th 2025

Schroon Lake's Briella Emment (4) with the rainbow shot from the corner as the Vikings would get the 52-39 victory. It would be the opening game of the Girls' Section VII Champions Challenge, and it would see the #9 Moriah Vikings from Class C take on the #11 Schroon Lake Wildcats from Class D at the Cinton Community College gym. The game would start very evenly matched with a 14-13 lead for the Schroon Lake Wildcats. When the second quarter rolled around, the Vikings took control of the game with a great showing on a 15-4 quarter and took the 28-18 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Wildcats would be able to get their game back again, but the Vikings' offense would stay hot as well, and the Vikings would win the quarter 16-14 and take the 44-32 lead into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter would be another tight one, as defense would be the name of the game. The Vikings would win the quarter 8-7 and secure the 52-39 win. In the winning effort for the Vikings, Emma Harrington would lead the way with a 30-point game as they go to 18-4 on the season as they head into their New York State Tournament game against the Lisbon Golden Knights. As for the Schroon Lake Wildcats, they would fall to 14-7 on the season as Olivia Hartwell would have 17 points on the night as they head into their New York State Tournament game against the Chateaugay Bulldogs with a berth in the final four on the line. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class D Girl's Basketball Championship: #2 Schroon Lake Wildcats Vs #4 Chazy Eagles March 1st 2025

Schroon Lake's Olivia Hartwell (12) drives the hoop for the score as part of a game high 29 points as the Wildcats are crowned the Class D Champions. We would have the second game of the day on championship Saturday from the Clinton Community College gym as part of Section VII Championship Saturday. It would feature the #2 Schroon Lake Wildcats and the #4 Chazy Eagles for the Class D title, and after the first quarter, we would have nothing decided as the game would be deadlocked at 13. However, in the second quarter, the Wildcats would start to pull away as they would have a 13-7 quarter and take the 26-20 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would stay tight as the Wildcats would edge out the quarter at 12-10 and take the 38-30 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Wildcats could seal the game away as they would go on a 13-3 run to secure the 51-33 victory and win the Class D title. In the winning effort for the Wildcats, Olivia Hartwell would lead the way with a 29-point game as they go to 14-6 and advance to the New York State Tournament, where they will take on the winner of Section X on March 15th. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Girl's Basketball Championship: #1 Saranac Spartans Vs #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars February 28th 2025

Saranac's Lilly Brown (12) rises for the layup and the score as part of an eight-point game. It would be the final game of the opening day of the Section VII Basketball Championship weekend; It would see the #1 Saranac Spartans and the #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars tipping off for the Class B Girls' Championship. It would be a low-scoring game to get it underway, and see the Cougars have the 9-7 lead after the first eight minutes. However, in the second quarter, the Spartans would come alive and start to take control of the game with a 13-5 quarter and have a 20-14 lead as they went into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half, the Spartans started to take control of the game with a 16-6 quarter and had a 36-20 lead as they went to the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans would put the game away with a 13-9 quarter and secure a 49-29 victory. In the winning effort for the Spartans, Madison Gagnier would lead the way with 16 points as they went to 15-3 on the season and earned a spot in the New York State Class B Girls' Basketball Tournament. As for the Northeastern Clinton Cougars, Peyton Scott would lead the way with ten points, and they finish their season at 9-12. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class C Girl's Basketball Championship: #1 Moriah Vikings Vs #2 Ticonderoga Sentinels February 28th 2025

Moriah's Maggie Spesock (24) with the block on the shot from Tconderoga's Lexia Bechrd (43) to keep them off the scoreboard. It would be the second game of the opening day of Section VII Basketball championship weekend; It would see a battle between the top 2 seeds in Class C Girls Basketball as we would have the #1 Moriah Vikings and the #2 Ticonderoga Sentinels. The upset-minded Sentinels would have the lead early by the slim 10-9 margin after the first quarter. When the second quarter came around, the Vikings would go on a run, have a 13-2 quarter, and take the 22-15 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Vikings would keep their hor roll going as they double up the Sentinels with an 11-6 quarter and take the 33-21 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Sentinels would do their best to try and get back in the game with a 16-12 quarter, but it would not be enough as the Vikings would get the 45-37 victory. In the winning effort for the Moriah Vikings, Emily Nephew would lead the way with 11 points as they go to 17-4 on the season and advance to the New York State Class C Girls' Basketball Tournament. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class A Girl's Basketball Championship: #1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Beekmantown Eagles February 28th 2025

Peru's Reese Duprey (5) with the jumper from the corner as part of a 24-point night as the Nighthawks get the 52-38 victory. It would be the start of Section VII Championship weekend from the Clinton Community College, and it would start with the Class A Girls' Championship and see #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles. It would be a close game at the start as the Nighhthawks would have the 10-7 lead after the first quarter. The game would still be tight in the second quarter as it would be an 11-8 quarter for the Nighthawks, and they would take the 21-15 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, they would still be tight, but the Nighthawks would have the slight edge at 14-12 and take the 35-27 lead into the final quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Nighhawks would have their best quarter of the night as they would have a 17-11 quarter to secure the 52-38 victory. In the wining effort for the Nighthawks, they will advance to the New York State Class A Tournament and take on the winner of Section 2 as Reese Duprey would lead theway with 24 points. As for the Beekmantown Eagles, the season will end, and Payton Parliment will have fifteen in the loss. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball: #14 Moriah Vikings @ Plattsburgh Hornets January 14th 2025

Plattsburgh's Charlotte Boule (4) with the baseline jumper over the outstretched defenders arm for the score. It would be a battle inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the #14 Moriah Vikings would travel up to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets in a late-season tilt. The game would start well for the Vikings as their defense would be up to the task, and they would jump out to a 14-5 lead after the first quarter. It would be more of the same in the second quarter as they would hold the Hornets to nine points while getting another 15 for themselves to take the 29-14 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Hornets would regroup themselves, come out on fire, and take the third 12-7 to tighten up the game at 36-26 as they entered the fourth quarter. It would be the tightest in the fourth quarter as the Hornets would get the quarter 12-10, although the Vikings would hold on for the 46-38 victory. In the winning effort for the Vikings, they would go to 15-4 on the season as they head into their final regular season game next Tuesday against the Northern Adirondack Bobcats. As for the Plattsburgh Hornets, they fall to 6-14 as they finish their season, head to the Section VII Class A Playoffs, and take on the Beekmantown Eagles in the semi-finals. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball: Beekmantown Eagles @ Plattsburgh Hornets January 14th 2025

Beekmantown's Payton Parliment (13) slices through a pair of Hornets for the score as she leads the night in scoring. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls's Basketball action from the Plattsburgh High School as the Hornets would host their neighbors in their annual rivalry game against the Beekmantown Eagles. The Eagles would come out flying in the first, doubling the Hornets with a 13-7 quarter. In the second quarter, the Eagle's defense would be top-notch for the eight minutes as they would hold the Hornets off the scoreboard with a 13-0 quarter and take a convincing lead of 26-7 lead at the end of the first half. When the teams return for the third, it would be a bit more of a competitive quarter, but the Eagles would still be on top with a 14-9 quarter and take the 40-16 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would empty the bench and score high on both ends, but the Hornets would only win the quarter by one at 16-15 as the Eagles would get the 55-38 victory. In the winning effort for the Eagles, they would go to 6-4 on the season as they head into their next game on Thursday against Ausable Valley. As for the Hornets, they will fall to 3-7 in the season as they will be back home Thursday against Saranac Lake. Gallery

Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball: #16 Bolton Eagles @ Seton Catholic Knights January 13th, 2025

Seton Catholic's Lenka Tardiff (5) with the three from the wing as the Knights spur on the offense. The Seton Catholic Knights would host the Bolton Eagles in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference from Seton Catholic in Girl's Basketball action. The game would get off to a good start for the Eagles, racing out to a 13-4 lead after the first quarter. It will be more of the same in the second quarter as they stay hot with a 13-2 quarter and take the 26-6 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would be a closer match as the Knights would find some offense, and the Eagles would win the quarter 8-6 and take the 34-12 lead into the 4th quarter. It would be another t, right quarter in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles would still be better with a 10-8 quarter as they secure the 44-20 victory. In the winning effort, the Bolton Eagles go to 9-1 on the season as they head into their game on Wednesday against Keene.
