The Elmira Soaring Eagles celebrate their 1-0 victory over the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they advance to the NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Quarterfinals. It would be the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Tournament, and it would see an old rivalry renewed at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Elmira Soaring Eagles with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line. The Soaring Eagles would get the game's opening goal at the 13:57 mark of the first period when Erika Goleniak would light the lamp, and that's where the lead would stand at the end of first period. When the teams returned for the second period both teams would have there chances to get a goal as the Cardinals would lead the period 14-6 shots on goal but would not be able to get one in the net so the Soaring Eagles would hold onto the 1-0 lead as they went to the third period. Once again, in that period, the Cardinals would lead the way with 11 shots to 5, but they couldn't score, and the Eagles would get a 1-0 win. In the winning effort for the Soaring Eagles, Sara Sevcikova would make 40 saves in the shutout victory as they go to 21-7-1 on the season and advance to the quarterfinals against Wisconsin River Falls.
