Section VII Class B Volleyball Semi-Finals: #4 Saranac Spartans @ #1 Plattsburgh Hornets November 5th 2024

It would be the start of the Section VII Volleyball playoffs, and the Plattsburgh High School would host one of the two semi-finals on this day. The #1 Plattsburgh Hornets would enter the playoffs undefeated as they would take on the #4 seeded Saranac Spartans with a spot in the Sectionals finals on Friday against the winner of the Beekmantown Eagles and Saranac Lake Red Storm. The home Hornets would come out firing, but the Spartans would do their best to keep the first set tight, and the Hornets would do better with a 25-19 victory. In the second set, the Spartans would after the win from the start of the seat, and they would get the 25-20 set win. As they head into the third set, the Chiefs would leave little to the imagination as they would get the easy 25-7 victory. As they would head to the 4th set, the Hornets would stay hot as they would get the easy 25-13 victory. The Hornets would win the match 3-1 and go to 17-0 on the season as they will take on the winner of the Beekmantown Eagles and Saranac Lake Red Storm Friday evening with a title on the line. As for the Saranac Spartans, their season would end at 10-7. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball: Ausable Valley Patriots @ Plattsburgh Hornets Otber 28th 2024
Plattsburgh's Natalie Battinelli (11) with the spike between Ausable Valley defenders as she would get the point. It would be the last regular season game for the Plattsburgh Hornets as they would host the Ausable Valley Patriots in Section VII Volleyball action from the Plattsburgh High School. Before the game, they would honor the six seniors on the team. As for the match, the Hornets could win straight sets (25-16, 26-24, and 25-9). In the first two sets of the game, the Patriots would be holding their own and even have the lead a few times and had a chance to win the second set. With the win, the Plattsburgh Hornets would put the bow on their perfect season and go 16-0 as they head into the playoffs. As for the Ausable Valley Patriots, they will fall to 5-1 on the season as they have their season finale Wednesday Night against the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball: Northern Adirondack Bobcats @ Plattsburgh Hornets October 17th 2024
Northern Adirondack's Allison LaPoint (12) with the spike that she would send back to the Hornets side for the point. It would be Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball action from Plattsburgh High School as the Hornets would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats in a late-season tilt. The Plattsburg Hornets would leave little to the contest as they would take the straight-set victory by the score of 25-14, 25-10, and 25-14 for the victory. With the victory, the Hornets would stay perfect on the season as they go to 12-0 and head into their next match next week at Beekmantown for a matchup between the top 2 teams in the league. As the Northern Adirondack Bobcats fall to 1-11 on the season, they will meet up with the 0-8 Northeastern Clinton Cougars on October 21st. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball: Beekmantown Eagles @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 23rd 2024
Pittsburgh (11) with the kill over the outstretched arms of Beekmantown's (13) for the point. It would be a battle of a pair of undefeated volleyball squads from the Plattsburgh High Gym in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball action in front of a packed house. It would be a great match from start to finish. The first game would be a see-saw affair, with the Eagles getting it at 25-21. In the second game, it would be more of the same, but it would see the Hornets get out to a 23-17 lead, but the Eagles would go on a run to tie it at 23, and then they would need a volleyball version of overtime to get a winner as the Hornets take the second game 28-26. Then it would be onto game three, and with them splitting the first two, it has become a best of three, so this would be a vital same, and once again, it would come down to the end, and the Hornets would take the game 25-23 and take the 2-1 sets lead. Then it would be onto elimination game four, and the Eagles were not about to fly away without a fight. They would take it to the Hornets in game four by winning it 25-20 to force the deciding game five. In game five, though, it seemed the Eagles had run out of steam as the Hornets would take the game away with a 15-8 win and get the match won at 3-2. In the winning effort, the Hornets would stay undefeated at 4-0 on the season while the Eagles fall to 4-1. Gallery

NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball: Anna Maria Amcats @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals September 21st 2024
Plattsburgh State's Liya Girma (2) gets up above the attacker and gets the two-hand block on the attacker. It would be the second of the day for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals on the Tri-Match day at home as they would take on the Anna Maria Amcats to decide who would be the better team of the three on the day. The match would start well for the home Cardinals as they would win the first game by a score of 25-8. In the second game, it would be more of the same for the Cardinals as they would win that as well cruising away with a 25-13 game. The third set would be harder though as it would come down to wire and the Cardinals would get the last 4 straight points to secure the 25-23 victory and the straight set victory and win both matches on the day to go to 3-9 on the season. In the winning effort for the Cardinals, Iris Mulvey would lead the way with 15 points and 13 kills. They will look to continue their winning ways as they go on the road next weekend to take on the RIT Tigers and the St Lawerence Saints both matches at St Lawerence.Gallery

NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball: SUNY Poly Wildcats @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals September 21st 2024
Plattsburgh State's Anabella Almeida (12) with the set as the waiting spiker is ready to send it over. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have their first of two matches on the day as they would on the winless SUNY Poly from the Empire 8. The first game of the match would be a see-saw affair but the home Cardinals would come out on top in the end with a 25-21 win. In the second game, the Cardinals would have an easier go of it and would take the two sets to zero lead with a 25-11 victory. Then in the third set, the Cardinals would be able to handle their business and take the third game 25-14 win and get the straight-set victory. In their winning effort, Iris Mulvey would lead the way with 11 points and have 9 kills. They will take on the Anna Maria Amcats in their next match. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball: Saranac Lake Red Storm @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 17th 2024
Saranac Lake's Lexie Donaldson (6) rises up for the spike that she would kill right back down the middle. The season may be still early but it would be a battle of unbeaten at Plattsburgh High Gym as the Saranac Lake Red Storm and the Plattsburgh Hornets would look to 3-0 on the early. The first game of the night would be super competitive as there would be multiple lead changes throughout but in the end the Hornets would take game 1 25-18. In the second game, the Hornets would come out and take the early big lead and hold it from there even through a mid-set run by the Red Storm but the Hornets would get the 25-11 win. The times would go to the third and the Hornets would look to stay perfect on the season as they would take on the Lake Placid Blue Bombers. As for the Red Storm, they will look to restart their winning streak as they host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars on September 19th. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball: Saranac Lake Red Storm @ Peru Nighthawks September 10th 2024
Peru's (20) with the block on the spike attempt on Saranac Lake's Gracen Foster. It would be the opening match of the season for both the Peru Nighthawks and the Saranac Lake Red Storm in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball action from Peru. It might have been the first of the season but it might have been a candidate for match of the season as it would go all give sets including the fourth one going to a 26-24 for the Red Storm. In the end, the Red Storm would just be too much on this day for the home Nighthawks as the Red Storm go to 1-0 while the Nighthawks fall to 0-1 on the season. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball: Northeastern Clinton Cougars @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 10th 2024
Platsburgh's Olivia Lewis (16) with the tip at the net for the Hornet's point. It would be the season opener for the Plattsburgh Hornets and Northeastern Clinton Cougars from Plattsburgh High School in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference. It might have been the season opener for the Hornets they looked like they were in mid-season form as they would dispense of the Cougars in just 45 minutes 25-6, 25-2, and 25-7. With the win, the Hornets would start their season at 1-0 while the Cougars fall to 0-1. Gallery
